By booking a middle range motel, I wasn't expecting to be pleasantly surprised. Firstly by the welcome and attention by the proprietors. The room was comfortable and cosy with good heating. Shower- great pressure & plenty of hot water. Bed comfortable, linens spotless. In fact the whole unit was spotlessly clean. I guess the decor is a little dated, but they're obviously working on that.

Excelent hosts, amenities and great location for sight seeing. Mark and Tanya are very good to deal with, always obliging and helpful.

Amenities provided are tidy and adequate. We were a group of 9 and we all enjoyed the stay.

Room was quaint but dated though the beds were very comfortable. We arrived at the motel within 15 minutes of booking online and were immeditely given our keys and directed to our room without fuss. Our fan wasn't working in our room (7) which was a bummer and dishes were still a little dirty otherwise we had everything we needed and plenty of space.

We stayed here for one night and just needed a comfortable bed and room for the night. This motel barely delivered that. They couldn't even extend to a small bar of soap, instead only offered a very basic soap dispenser on the wall. Certainly no sign of shampoo let alone a shower cap. Very tired looking room in need of some paint.

We stayed at the Highwayman Motel in April 2014 for a bowls tournament. The owners Mark & Kylie were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our unit was clean, bed comfortable and water was always hot for showers, even though all the units were full during our stay. The washing machines and dryer were free to use and the staff, especially Shirley, were also very friendly and helpful. Local shops and a Pak&Save close by, plus the Cosmopolitan Club a short walk away added to an enjoyable week. We would recommend this Motel. Thank you Mark & Kylie

This motel had a budget price and so our expectations weren't too high. We don't mind older furnishings, but the room we were in was badly in need of some TLC. The first thing noticed was damaged paint work around the under sink cupboard and the step into the shower. Rust in the shower, stains on the bedside table, mould in the window sills & a missing sliding door on the toilet. So, I'm afraid I couldn't recommend this motel to others unless they really couldn't afford anything better.

We booked a 2 bedroom unit for 4 adults (youngest 58). On receiving a lovely welcome on arrival, we found our unit had beautiful decor, very spacious, immaculate, all mod cons (plus eg blow drier,) 9 degrees outside we were cosy and warm. The bathroom most useful even from a disabled family member angle - fold down seat in shower. Highly recommend. It was superb!!!

We stayed in Masterton for a couple of days. We had our baby with us and were very lucky to have a generous room with all the facilities we needed. It was quiet and clean. It is in walking distance of restaurants and shops. We would stay here again next time we are in the area!

We booked an apartment!!! It was Ok!! A bit outdated and really need modernizing. Beds were comfortable. Table big enough for us all to sit at. Shower was drizzly -but plenty of hot water. Its motels like this that make you wonder just what you should get for your money. No milk. No desire of owner to take you to your rooms. I really dont know what I would expect for $480 for two nights for 5 of us,

The motel we shared with our family was adequate but not great. It was disappointing that after a days travel there was no complimentary milk to have a cuppa on arrival. This is the first time we have experienced this.Just handing a key and pointing is hardly a welcome .
No dish cloth and a faulty TV did nothing for our enjoyment .
The facilities were fine but a little more care for guests would make the stay more enjoyable.
