Nice place to spend time and relax if you are on the way to whakapapa in the winter. Good place for a fishing trip if you want to catch trout. They will also provide guidance and support during your trip. Has a space for cleaning your catch and the kitchen will cook it for you. Rooms were comfortable.
The motel is a bit dated but as a place to put your head down after a busy day it is a great location and the spa was welcome after climbing Tongariro. It’s also close to town for dinner and the staff were very accommodating.
It's a good place for the crossing. The units are large and with a full kitchen. The furniture and interiors are very dated but functional. The beds were too soft for our taste but had this issue in NZ before. It's very hot in the summer, we opened the windows but got mosquitoes in. The wifi is a little slow. The good pricing makes it very good value for money.
Despite the dated kitchen area and bathroom, I loved this place. The motel is a peaceful retreat set in a sheltered garden filled with native trees. We found it the perfect spot to relax after a hectic day of travelling and meetings. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable and although the kitchen and bathroom could do with an update, we had everything we needed and the unit was spotlessly clean.
I last stayed at this motel 25 + years ago! Lovely hosts and perfectly located in turangi. Loved the kids playground and trampoline. The swimming pool and spa pool looked great but we didn't use them as its winter! great suggestions on where to visit around the area.
We were a group of 9 stayed 2 nights at this nice motel in Turangi. We found motel keeper very friendly and caring. grounds re beautiful. Apartments are spacious and well equipped but bit dated and perhaps do well with refurbishments. We have stayed in several motels in Turangi before and 2 things distinguished this place. The friendliness of the hosts and the surroundings. Will stay again if there is an opportunity.
I understand why there are 1* and 5* reviews to this motel as this is accommodation with great potential that desperately needs updating. Lyn and Rob were extremely welcoming and friendly and could not do enough to try and make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The pool was warm and inviting and the spa soothed the sore muscles of those of us who did the Tongariro Crossing. We received a very early morning breakfast and packed lunch as requested. Rob was always available to reboot the wifi or to open the spa cover or.. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. However the room was in desperate need of a makeover. The ensuite shower area was tiny and unwelcoming. The decor was very tired and even the breakfast could have been more 21st century. The wifi could never have lived up to what was claimed as it rarely worked except for 10 mins after each complaint. This also needs updating.…
What a find and great value for money. Big spacious room, wonderful hosts that were really wanting to help a couple of travellers, they couldn't do enough for us. A private place that really friendly.
We booked this motel for one of our employees and found the staff extremely helpful. Great location, great size rooms. Highly recommend to anyone travelling for business or personal reasons. The pool was also a really welcome find. Thank you for your hospitality
Had the misfortune of being booked into this place by the travel company that books our work stays. Served by the owner (sporting a fresh black eye) who started off by apologising for the state of the room that my colleague was going to be booked into. The room looked straight out of the 1970’s. While the room was clean, it was very tired and depressing. It also had black mould the toilet wall and a leaking toilet. It was also infested with white tail spiders. The wifi was almost non existent. And when it did go.... slowed to a crawl. The male owner was very rude and embarrassed us about removing the pool cover to swim. Even tho the pool is the only attraction in the complex’s and it was the middle of summer. And when challenged on his outburst he decided blame everyone but himself. This place is the pits. I would rather have stayed at the back packers down the road than stay here. Do yourself a favour and skip it. I know this goes against the other reviews on this motel but trust me. It’s the worst.…
