We turned up after hours the staff were very friendly and had turned the heaters on for us we stayed in the family house quite comfy and plenty of room. Would suggest fire extinguisher and smoke alarms to be installed.

This place does the job: half way between to Tongariro and Taupo. But it really does need some TLC - the shared kitchen was extremely run down. This is reflected in the price i suppose. More than do-able for backpackers and budget travelers.

The campsites are lovely and private. The facilities are close for ease but not too close to cause disturbance. The kitchen had lots of cooking utensils compared to other sites we have been and it was a nice area to sit around and share stories...More

This is a pleasant holiday park with big shady sites. But be warned that there are curbs on the roadways around the campground that you have to bump your motorhome or caravan over. You can hear some traffic noise from the highway at night but...More

This is a historical campground. The original base for the 1950s power project, it was once home to hundreds of Italian workers who were involved in what was then the biggest engineering project in New Zealand. For ...More the casual camper looking for a quiet spot away from the main road, here you'll find large, individually-hedged sites with plenty of lovely shady trees, each having a tap and a picnic table. Older-style, well-scrubbed amenities include a basic kitchen with lots of pans, crockery and cookware, ablutions with free curtained showers, a coin operated laundry, and a drying room available for a small charge. The covered deck off the kitchen is a beautiful spot to sit and eat your meal, and you can use the fish cleaning sink and outdoor BBQ s to cook up your catch of the day. Too tired to cook? Town is within walking distance for a takeaway or a meal. Working towards being an Eco friendly camp ground, there are ample recycling stations, a bin in the kitchen for your organic waste that goes to the worm farm, and a herb garden is also being established by the kitchen. Children have a couple of small play areas and plenty of room to run about, while on rainy days there is a large games room and guest lounge. Internet access and a dump station are also provided, and your dogs are welcome but by arrangement please. Charges are from $22 per person, children 5-14 from $10, and under five are free. Our cabins is very basic and have a bottom sheet, pillow and pillow cases. You need to bring your own bedding. You also need to use the communal kitchen and bathrooms. From $55 per cabin. Our Family cabin has a TV, fridge, small kitchenette with its own crockery and cutlery. You need to share the bathroom and kitchen with the other guests.Bring own linen. From $75 per cabin.
