Detailed Reviews
My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights whilst making our way down to Wellington.
The Motel has got everything you need and more. It’s spacious, with a well equipped kitchen and a lounge area to relax in with a TV which includes Sky channels.
An additional bonus is that there are washing / drying facilities onsite which are free for guests.
The hosts are very friendly and go out of their way to do anything for you. I would recommend this motel to anyone who needs accommodation in this area.

Great stay. I was part of a family reunion - over 30 people. When we needed something from hosts they were more than happy to find, sometimes from own pantry.
Thanks Pip and Ross. I was expecting smoked trout. Instead I’ve never enjoyed so many crayfish so far from sea:)
Motel is older but very clean snd tidy for its age. Gardens are lovely.
It has own kitchen in each unit - including oven.
Beautiful Tongariro River is short walk away and hire bikes to ride Tongariro River Trail
- awesome and very exciting but still manageable for anyone. Ross encourages everyone to go fishing and it is really a fishing motel. Maybe next time.

I was looking for a base for Hiking, Dog Friendly and great local dining- and 2 out of 3 is no bad thing, expecially when one of the ticks is dog friendly.
Decent size clean studio rooms with everything you need as a base. The hotel will set you up for fishing, biking and hiking. If you want a day long spa, full body massage and mud face pack then Taupo is just down the road, although the owners are exceptionally accommodating and Ross could probably arrange a mud bath in a nearby river.
There's a New World Stupermarket a few minutes walk away and a Tavern nearby that would not be out of place in a Crocodile Dundee movie. Taupo is a 30 minute drive if you want to go posh for an evening.
Hiking, riding and fishing opportunities are simply world class.
A great base run by Ross and Pip, nicer (and funnier) hosts you could not meet.

Thanks to Pip, Ross and his son James we had the best time in Turangi. The use of the bikes on the first day was the perfect start to our stay. The bike track was stunning. This fishing advice from James meant we all enjoyed a great day fishing. Ross was a great tour guide and we followed his tips for a great to see an amazing waterfall and manageable walk in the Tongariro national park. Pip was also a perfect host and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to all, we will be back.

It was a return visit to the motel for us. It sums up the good Kiwi motel experience for us. Cosy ‘log cabin’ type accommodation, spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed and friendly helpful staff and even a complimentary newspaper delivered in the morning - all at a very good price. There’s a free laundry for guest use. We really appreciated having somewhere we could stay with our dog too.

The room smelt musty as we went in, the bathroom was not as clean as I would expect in a motel. Bed linen not nice & crispy as is expected in clean motels. Decor dated, no Sky channels. Room was quiet despite being close to main highway

The decor is very dated throughout the Unit; the shower was very weak, I would not have been able to wash my long hair effectively; the double bed was uncomfortable, we ended up rolling into the middle. The pillows were like bricks. The single bed was noisy when rolling over. A general lack of plugs to charge up phones.

Comfortable motel with warm and welcoming hosts.
We love the resident dog! Lots of thought put into making the stay as comfy as possible.
Easy access to turangi township and a short stroll to Creel Cafe.
