Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I stayed at the Olive Rabbit for two nights for our scheduled Tongariro alpine crossing. We were rained out of the hike but found the misfortune mitigated by the fantastic B&B experience crafted by Mary and Tim. We felt at home the minute we checked in. Clean, beautiful house and rooms. It turns out Mary may be quietly establishing herself as the best chef in town. Some of our days most memorable moments were created around the breakfast table. Thank you again Mary and Tim

What wonderful guests you were too: so easy to entertain and our conversations were great. We are thrilled that you were able to see some hidden gems around the National Park in spite of not being able to do the Crossing. There is always plenty else to do: you could have stayed a week. Maybe we'll see you again to attempt the Crossing. It will still be there for you.

Mary and Tim were wonderful hosts. Each detail was looked after. The breakfast was superb. Mary was very helpful and knowledgeable about the local activities and attractions, which we took advantage of. Splendid little quiet place, just off the beaten path, but in the center of it all.

You have summed us up so well. We know we're slightly off the beaten track but there is so much to do around here, especially if you are a hiker, a biker, or a fisherman. However, having a car will also take you to many places that are not on the tourists' maps. I know you found some of them and we loved having you.

Thank you Mary and Tim for this excellent experience. You were outstanding hosts. The recommendations for atcitivies were very helpful as well as the fabulous breakfasts and the wonderful pizzas. You are definitively amoungst our top favourites on this NZ trip. We had also the pleasure to meet other guests with which we had good conversations. Mary also helped with booking our "glow-worm experience" near by Rotorua. Thank you for everything. Very memorable.

We're so delighted that you were able to manage the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We work in with a wonderful guiding company and knew you'd be well cared for. Then it was up to us to ensure you were well catered for, back at our place. The pizzas are always a 'hit': very popular with our guests and our breakfasts always satisfy the palette. We're thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us at The Olive Rabbit.

The Olive Rabbit is a slice of paradise in Turangi! Mary and Tim are such gracious and attentive hosts. Mary greeted us when we arrived and never ceased to make us feel at home. We did hike the Alpine Crossing and felt very prepared due to Mary’s guidance and to-go breakfast and lunch, which were delicious. We would recommend The Olive Rabbit to anyone, you wont be disappointed ! We cannot wait to come back soon.

Coming to Mary and Tim is like coming home to Mom and Dad. They take care for everything and let you feel being at home. Breakfast and pizzas are delicious, even if they needed be be lactose- and gluten-free for my wife. Mary and Tim take care for all of your wishes and help you organising your stay not only in the Turangi-region but also for your further travels. Never had hosts like the Mary and Tim before.

Mary and Tim are lovely and attentive hosts. They are warm and helpful and go out of their way to make sure their guests are taken care of. Their b&b is comfortable and homey, but it’s most outstanding feature must be its breakfast which should be judged on a different scale as it was truly gourmet. In addition, their son is a chef with a nearby restaurant called the Hare & Copper Eatery which is a phenomenal place for dinner and a drink. The Olive Rabbit would be a nice place to stay for several nights or as an overnight when driving south. We look forward to visiting again.

Excellent and friendly hosts. Enjoyed my time and would definitely stay again. Room was clean and well appointed. Chose to eat in and food was very tasty but hosts offered assistance to go to a restaurant which was above and beyond.
