DO NOT STAY HERE!! Disgusting old rooms, cutlery looks really old, beds are so soft that I got a very bad backpain in the morning. It seemsthat the rooms are filled with stuff collected from kerbside spring cleanout. Most importantly, the owner is one unetchical and unprofessional business person I have come across. We left behind a toy of our daughter and a phone charger, when contacted initially he asked me to send a pre-paid courier envelope, but when followed up he put me to ranson to first delete a negative review that I didn't even write at the first place. He was so rude that he didn't even listen to me and hanged up. So, a man who has the audacity to throw a child's toy, over charge customers for disgusting rooms, and hang up on his guests doesn't deserve any business whatsoever. This pandemic should be an eye opener for such shady businesses. #donotstayhere…
It has been 5+ years since we stayed here, and we still find it a comfortable spot. It isn't the flashest motel, but is well laid out and in summer with front and back doors open it can be pleasantly cool without needing the air conditioning (and it does get VERY hot in Turangi mid-summer). Clean and comfortable with all the items we needed in the kitchen. The WiFi is okay, but we did experience some glitches in the evenings. It is a short walk to the river or in to Turangi for food and takeaways. We find it a good spot and will stay there again if stopping in Turangi.
We arrived late evening and were given a friendly welcome. We found the room and beds warm and comfortable. Heat pump , electric blanket and lots of extra blankets if needed. Very toasty warm on a cool evening. The shower had good pressure. While the decor was a little dated we found the room clean and comfortable .
While this motel is well located it is in desperate need of an overhaul. The furniture is in very poor condition and is so old that it is holding all the odors of a rotten kitchen, cooking smells, and body odor which is overwhelming as you enter the unit. The kitchen is well beyond its use by date and badly needs removing. The smell of rotting chip board permeates as soon as you open a cupboard. The bathroom has had an update to an open wet area which is great but needs a good clean to remove mould. Fittings and fixtures are old and tired but there is good heating with a fairly new heat pump. The bedroom is roomy a bed the bed quite comfortable enough for a short stay.
A good room with a reasonable sized lounge/kitchen and a good size bedroom. Our room was showing some wear and tear but do not let that put you off. The town is within walking distance but there was not many restaurants.
We've passed thru Turangi on our way between Auckland & Wellie...this is a great place, plenty of space for 4 to sleep, kitchen, etc. Owners are accommodating and helpful...called us to check on our arrival time so they could turn on aircon to cool room before we arrived! An awesome option mid-way as you travel down highway one.
We stayed here for a week over Christmas. The owners really go out of their way to make sure you’re enjoying your stay. Our room, although a bit tired, had everything we needed to make a simple meal, a fridge, a hob and a microwave with plenty of utensils, frying pan, saucepans etc. There were also free bbq facilities under a covered seating area. Everything was kept clean, towels and bedding were changed frequently. There was a washing machine, which was $2 and you had the choice of tumble dryer (extra cost) or line drying. We had a four person accommodation, there were studios too but they did not have many facilities. We found this stay was very reasonably priced, was close to the town for food shopping etc but was quiet. The WiFi was a bit slow and sometimes dropped out completely. We wanted to phone our family on Christmas Day but it didn’t work too well but this was a minor inconvenience. Compared to subsequent motels we have stayed at, Judges Pool had the best facilities.…
We made the mistakes of getting a small unit and it really was very small with no table no chairs and super compact. There was no frig but the manager let us use his. The room was clean and staff was helpfulI and it’s very quiet.
Stayed at Judges Pool Motel 3 Times in last two months.Excellant stay each time.Rooms are clean and good size and at a good price.Quiet back street near river and short walk to Shops.Rhett and Stella are very friendly and obliging Hosts. Many thanks 😊
Previously we didn't know Turangi except as a place to drive through, but staying at this motel, which is very accessible to the Tongariro River, a children's playground across the street, and nearby walkways. We stayed in a family unit set up for two adults and two young children (3 and 5). Nothing flash, but everything in the room appeared generally tidy and hygenic. Staff were polite and helpful. If I could have a gripe it might be that the children's beds were in the front room instead of their own bedroom, which effectively meant that after we'd gotten them to sleep we couldn't use that room nor anything in it. For a short stay that's a minor compromise, though.
