So happy we discovered and booked two nights at Oreti Village Resort for our recent stay! Our lodging was quiet, spacious and clean with a magnificent view of Lake Taupo. While the furnishings were a bit dated, we very much appreciated the kitchenette and washer/dryer. Service from staff was exceptional, especially Debbie. Debbie kindly arranged for a packed breakfast and lunch for the day of our trek. We dined at the Oreti restaurant both nights and enjoyed wonderful service, flexible reservations and delicious food. We also appreciated the great recommendation for transportation to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing with Tongariro Adventures. We highly recommend Oreti Village Resort!

We held our beautiful daughter and her beautiful groom's beautiful wedding in this beautiful resort. What a Fantastic place we chose. From the beginning of planning with Fleur, she made it so easy, thinking due to her experience and good nature. Approx. 100 people in attendance, the accommodation in the Resort for all, was comfy and warm, full amenities like washing machine and dryers and displaying spectacular views. The staff of Oreti Resort are amazing, Fleur and her father Alex, the Chef, Barry the property man, ngā kaimahi, just everyone was hands on and so friendly. I would 100% recommend this beautiful resort, for a lovely relaxing holiday, celebrate special events. Thanks so much Fleur and team for your lovely premises that made our daughter's wedding so wonderful.

Deserves 5* to be honest, if not for the upstairs guests in room 20A! They were up really early and back late, just their footsteps troubled us in 20B :/ Not sure if it is the flooring?
Anyway. Other than that, Oreti is beautiful! Ridiculous lakefront views of Taupo, it is everything we could’ve asked for. We loved our mornings as the sky lit up across the lake, little birds on our balcony. The apartment is not just fully equipped but drizzled with thoughtfulness - from the washing powder to the portable heaters. Electric blankets were a plus! Fridge/ freezer was top notch, our ice packs were solid and ready for our day trip to Whakapapa. We just got back to AKL and my husband exclaimed “OK - Oreti is better than this house”! Haha I fully agree :) Thank u for having us! Trying to come up with an excuse to be back soonest.
PS. Maybe gun for the single digit apartments, first row to the lake. Numbers 4-9? It does help not to worry about other guests above u.

Unit 2b has a nice view from the deck overlooing the lake. However with unit 2a above it and you can hear their guests walking around like a heard of elephants. Unit 2b has a dated feel to it. There is a DVD player that's not connected to the TV. There is an old radio with a CD player. There is a basket with a game and a book in a foreign language. At $315 / night you'd expect a bit of luxury like clean towels, but they come only after three days (it's noted on small print in the bathroom). Great ambience in the restaurant but the filet was inedible. All and all - a bit disappointing for what you pay.

This place advertises itself as a luxury resort and Google says it’s a five star hotel. That is definitely not the case. This place is more of a rustic lake camp. Our place smelled like mildew and all of the furniture and fixtures were old, tired, and grungy. There are no screens on the windows and quite a few mosquitoes so you can’t enjoy the fresh air with the windows open. There was a kitchen but limited dishes, utinsils, and supplies for having a meal in. No napkins, no dish brush or sponge. No way to clean up other than putting dishes in the dishwasher. There are ashtrays on the deck tables. Luckily the people around us didn’t smoke or we would have been miserable. Their website mentions a number of things that aren’t accurate. Says it’s lakefront but it’s actually way above the lake and there’s no way to actually get down to the lake from the resort. They also advertise that you can book fly fishing and their chef will cook it for you. My husband booked the fly fishing and normally does catch and release only but I thought fresh fish would be awesome for dinner so he brought back a huge trout. When I asked the woman at the bar to cook it she stared at me like I was crazy and said we don’t do that. Then they tried to tell us we could bake it in the oven in our room. We didn’t even have a baking dish much less foil, butter, or anything else to put on the eventually, after telling them their website says they will do this and we didn’t want to hav killed the fish for nothing, they cooked it for us but nothing special. Not with a meal in the restaurant. They just sent us back to our room with it in foil. Don’t get me wrong, the views are amazing and if you go in expecting more of a lake cabin, it’s fine, but it’s definitely not luxurious. They do weddings and I don’t know how you could possibly feel clean and beautiful dressed up for a wedding staying here.

Sometimes we dont always get it right but really disappointed to read this and feel most comments are an extreme over reaction or are completely untrue, if your room is not acceptable would you not say something at the time ? No we dont have screens we just recommend like everywhere in NZ, that if you are out side to close your doors if the lights are on. All of our kitchens are generally well equipped to prepare a meal, I guess everyones expectations on this differ, But suggest if main things are missing you advise us and we can remedy for you. Again all units have brushes and dish cloths and it would be rear exception for our extremely busy house keepers to miss things like this and again could have easily been addressed had you asked. We are lake front on a hill .... there is nothing in front off us but bush no road -if you look at our website it clearly illustrates this ..... And we DO have a track to the lake .... it is advertised in compendiums . In regards to the Fish ..... this is just a staff training issue and I apologise and I will have a chat- with my staff its actually not a request we frequently get these days - we could have cooked and served in Restaurant but you opted to take back to your room, obviously that comes with a service cost. We do many weddings every year and have many happy couples ! your comments are very untrue and rather unjust -

Fleur and her amazing team hosted our group for our daughters wedding. There was nothing that was too much trouble. We were looked after so well in all facets of our stay, from the organising the day before, the actual wedding overlooking beautiful Lake Taupo, to the great service from all the staff before and during our sumptuous dinner. Then to a very comfortable and well appointed 2 bedroom Chalet with stunning views up the Lake, and then to wake up to nature with the dawn chorus from the surrounding bush and the plentiful Quail on the lawn. Paradise! Thank you Fleur, it was a memorable weekend.

Stunning views, private, spacious apartment that provided ample space for our family of 3 generations. We breakfasted on the deck in the sunshine each morning. Bliss in April. We enjoyed a meal in the restaurant and the staff produced lovely meals for the vegetarians in our group

Lovely premises. However very disappointed that we were provided with no house service. I think this should be highlighted when you book. For once I was looking forward to someone else doing the beds. The small sign in the bathroom states that they only do room service on the third day. But no where on your website do you state the 3 day service level. I’d prefer no surprises.

We paid $640 for two nights Oreti is very tired. Bed must be original because it was so uncomfortable we rolled into the middle and couldn’t sleep. Worst of all bed lined not clean we checked bed on arrival and noticed that bed quilt had stains we asked reception if we could have a clean quilt and we were told they had none to spare. Kitchen tap very old and sprayed everywhere, kitchen not well supplied, air conditioning down stairs and bedrooms freezing on upper levels.

Thanks for your comments- I have discussed with my team and their recollection of events may differ from yours. Many of your complaints now in this public forum were not bought to our attention and many we could have rectified. Eg giving you another heater ( you were here at the start of the coldest time of the year.) In regards to the bed you are the first to bring that to our attention. I will discuss with the Owners who will be here later this week. My team did their best to attend to your requests and closely inspected the bedding and found no issues. Sometimes we don't get every thing right, but given the opportunity at the time we will always do our best and in this case we were not given the opportunity.

We stayed a couple of nights with friends, the rooms were spacious, had fantastic view of the lake with big deck. Views from restaurant were also fab. The staff very friendly. Had a great time sitting on the deck sipping gins and tonics. Our only comments for improvements would be air conditioning in the bedrooms, it was January and so hot at night difficult to sleep, and the chairs on the deck could have done with some padding. Rooms a bit dated but very comfortable and clean. Great stay
