Wow! This place is stunning. Firstly the accommodation is spectacular, all newly renovated to the highest quality, also offers a fantastic outdoor seating area/extra hangout space, this spot has all you need and more with absolutely beautiful rural scenery on offer to. This place is peaceful, you get that country feel but still close to town to get what you need- Te kuiti is lovely.
The hosts are also fantastic. Can’t wait to go back.

We enjoyed every minute of our child-friendly stay. Emma and John were extremely welcoming, with beautiful views of farmlands and the Te Kuiti township. How could one complain?!

The accommodation had recently undergone renovations. Our rooms were large with an ensuite, and I cannot stress how comfortable the beds were... I had the best sleep ever!!!! The kitchen/dining area was immaculate, with new appliances and furnishings.

There is an outdoor dining/rec room, where you can have a bbq, play darts or board games. The fire pit was the crowd favourite, roasting marshmallows and star gazing.

Definitely recommend the Hunts Farm Accommodation when planning a trip to Te Kuiti!

Stayed here with three friends for weekend rock climbing trip to Pakeho. We stayed in the four bed bunk room. Comfortable beds and room has own shower and separate toilet. Next door on the covered veranda is the well equipped and spacious kitchen dining room. Both rooms have good heating and it is all in a beautiful rural setting. What more could you want? Hosts John and Emma are personable with good communication. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Hunt Farm Backpackers back when it was known as Casara Mesa (in 2015). We absolutely loved the location above the town of Te Kuiti.
Judging by the photos the lovely atmosphere of the place has survived the change of owners. The living room had an effective stove which heated the water in pipes behind it to distribute the heat. Staying off season was no problem.

The perfect getaway spot! Hubby and I stayed here for a few nights for our anniversary, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Lovely hosts, stunning location, and so close to the town centre. We will definitely be back!

We loved our stay at this place. We were camping in our campervan and also someone travelling with us had a bed in the dorm room. Very clean bedrooms and bathrooms. The dorm room had its own bathroom. Big kitchen with everything you need. So quite and peaceful as not a big crazy backpackers and the location is beautiful. Very good valve for money and the owners were so nice and helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Casara Mesa turned our day around. We found ourselves stranded in Te Kuiti after our camper van blew its head gasket... suddenly we're homeless and unexpectedly in the market for a new car- not an easy situation in a small, sleepy town in NZ.
After a day of going from cafe to cafe waiting to hear the news on our van, we searched for hostels to stay in. Thankfully we found Casara Mesa!! We called and spoke to the wonderful Emma- she kindly came and picked us up from the town centre to save us walking up a big hill. She was incredibly helpful, we couldn't have asked for better service. There's so much good to say about this place and this lady that I'll break it down:

Room: - beautiful modern decor- 5 beds in the room but Emma directed later guests to other rooms so we had the place to ourself. Very comfy beds, shower and toilet within the room and all facilities within it were very clean.

Location- about 2k from town centre, it also falls on popular walking trails which results in keen hikers dropping In. This place is on a farm and it has the most stunning views accross the valley and of the town. The rooms have a veranda around them with benches and even a rocking chair- this was the perfect place for us to sit and get slightly merry with a lovely Australian chap who was also staying- we also stayed on fireworks night and so we had a great view of all the fireworks going off across the town 👌. The surrounding farm grounds are beautiful!

Facilities:
Shower- lovely hot, clean shower (hard to come by in a hostel!) towels provided by Emma on request.

Kitchen- lovely, clean- all mod cons. Felt just like being in someone's kitchen at home in their farm house. Doesn't have a hostel feel at all. Emma even offered us food- tea, coffee, cereal- even said we could help ourselves to the freshly laid eggs of her chickens! We couldn't resist! Kitchen large enough for everyone and has a nice dining table to sit at by the window.

Wifi- Free and excellent connection

Laundry- free facilities, Emma even did our washing for us! I'm not sure if this is standard practice or if it was because we had a rough day- either way we love her for it!

Service/ management- Emma and her family are just a genuine, lovely bunch of people and you can tell they enjoy the business they do.
Emma helped us with our search for a new car and her family joined us to watch some fireworks. She made sure we had everything we needed and we highly recommend this place to anyone considering the stay!

Oh, thank you so much for this review! Wow. We actually just spoke of you guys this week, because we bumped into the seller of the car in town. We wondered how you guys ended up and hopefully that car is still going well for you!!! It was lovely to meet you both. Wishing you the BEST for the holiday season :)
