What a beautiful and tranquil retreat after a long ride in. The 2.4 km of dirt road was worth it to end up at this beautiful house. The breakfast was delicious the next morning. This is a must see if visiting NZ

A beautiful place to visit. Our host greeted us upon arrival; and set the stage for a wonderful holiday experience. Provided many flexible options for our enjoyment but really took advantage of their down home hospitality. Only regret was the short time we had to stay and we would gladly return and stay longer if in this area again.

Spacious and homely. Our boys rugby team enjoyed their stay that they did not want to return back home! Leanne is lovely and is very easy to deal with. Made us feel right at home, and we enjoyed how close it was to the beach. Thank you!

9 of us recently spent 3 nights at the lodge and had a fabulous time. Such a comfortable and lovely place to stay. We had 3 days of hiking with Leeanne guiding us on 2. Such beautiful walks and certainly NZ’s native bush at its best. So lovely to be going places that are fairly deserted and you really felt away from everything. I highly recommend getting a group together and doing this. We also had all our meals provided which was great and the meals were fab with so much food. Thanks Leeanne you were wonderful!!

Very nice and accommodating owners. However, make sure you understand how remote this property is with nothing close by. Long distance on gravel roads from famous caves. Large cottage is far from the charming main house. Furnishings, layout, cleanliness--not up to the amount charged. Breakfast consisted of groceries provided. Beautiful scenery, pool non functioning, minimal outdoor furniture.

Response from Leanne M, Owner at Waitomo Boutique Lodge

We take a lot of pride in our "Waitomo Boutique Lodge", "Cosy Cottage" and "Country Home". Part of the beauty is the isolation and privacy not to mention the spectacular views, well manicured gardens and layered rolling green hills and the vastness of the Estate and beyond to spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Some times we have maintenance going on, ie; the pool, as was explained at the time and hoped you could see passed this to all the beauty around you.. Unlike the "Lodge" the "Country Home" is a separate dwelling at the entrance of the Estate and is a self service B&B with all the fresh produce supplied. All the same Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are very sorry to hear you had concerns, nevertheless we have taken them on board and will always endeavor to improve. :) Kind regards Leanne

From the moment we booked our reservation, Leanne responded quickly and professionally to all of our inquires. She even recommended an excellent restaurant in town since we were arriving late. Little did we know she and Rod would be so charming in person. Their idyllic setting in the rolling hills of New Zealand was a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. We enjoyed a glass of wine and great conversation when we arrived. (and a quick explanation of Sevens Rugby by Rod!) We stayed in the Cozy Cottage and it was perfect. Waking to the birds in the morning was very relaxing. Then a morning run along the country road was highlighted with the young cows joining in. The views were gorgeous and I returned back to a delicious breakfast that Leanne had prepared. Leanne and Rod have a special place and they enjoy sharing it with others. We have had the oppportunity to travel around the world to cities and small villages alike and this Lodge is truly a HIDDEN GEM! Thank You Leanne and Rod!

Pictures do not do this lodge justice! To call this place “boutique” is almost misleading. The main house, where we stayed, is sizable. Flanked by hand-stacked limestone and surrounded by manicured gardens, this modern home looks like a white gem held inside the deliciously green rollers of Waitomo. We stayed in the panoramic window room. The picture window in this room sports a vista you will remember- vibrant green hills dotted with white sheep. For farmers and residents of Waitomo this is an everyday site. But if you are city folk like us - this is an extraordinary place! Leanne and Rodney are amazing hosts. They are relaxed, welcoming and ready with good conversation! It’s a treat to share a glass or two with such good people who hail from Waitomo themselves. Leanne is a font of information about Waitomo caving history, local sites, Waitomo flora and fauna and local conservation and land management efforts. Expect good food, good company, overwhelming beauty (if you’re it from Waitomo) and many opportunities for decompression or quiet contemplation on this stunning 2,500 acre historic farm!

Unbelievably beautiful views of the rolling hills. Our last day when the sky cleared up, we could see miles and miles of green hills with mountains at the backdrop cos the lodge is perched on a high ground. The owners have impeccable style and furnished the house tastefully. Warm hosts. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Only regret was that we booked too late and couldn't get the room with the panoramic view.

Whenever I think about paradise, I remember Waitomo Boutique "Palace". Such a beautiful place. The views are to die for. The swimming pool is cozy and the picturesue pond created by Rod is a treat to your eyes. Rod and Leanne are a beautiful couple and they make you feel at home.Leanne is a fantastic cook. The place itself is kept so spic and span, that you would love to live in it forever.A "must" visit, if you are planning a trip to the glow worm caves.
