Our trip started with booking and confirmation they could accommodate our "small" family of 6. Mum dad and kids(all under 11 years). Upon arrival Dave made us feel welcome and introduced George his cool pup. Room had double bed and two sets of bunks. Facilities need a makeover but only cosmetic. Showers and pool was grate. Kitchen well stocked with equipment etc. We had a few issues in room which Dave addressed the next morning without delay and made sure we were ok. Our kids had fun in salt water pool and where treated as vips by guests and other guests. Lots of things to do and dave had cheep or free options too. Owners need to spend a bit upgrading basics maybe ceiling fans in rooms, new lino in bathrooms etc. End if day its a YHA not a hotel but dave does his utmost to give you a feeling of being a vip, not just us but other guests too. Bbq was cool to.

Take head owners you have a fantastic facility
but it was Dave, Nic and George made our stay awesome.

We stayed just for one night but I'd definetely stay again :) Dave, the manager, is the most excentric person I have ever met in my travels, but definetely makes you feel super welcome and he DO NOT STOP the whole day doing things around the hostel. He even offered to drive us in his personal van to the bus stop when it was time to leave. The beds are a little soft but even in the dorms not all of them are bunks, so that's a plus. Other than my friend and I, there was just another girl in the room so it was pretty confortable. There are farm animals everywhere which are adorable to pet and be around! The pool seem pretty nice eventhough we didn't use it because the weather was too cold. The common room is huge with a fire in the middle which makes it super cozy. Be sure to bring your own food because there are no supermarkets around at all. Dave has some stuff for sale but not much. The people there is also very nice, a guy even gave us cereal because we didn't have anything for breakfast! Definetely woudl stay again :)

One of my favourite hostels in New Zealand so far, if you want to rest and enjoy peace. It has a kind of mountain refuge ambience, with the fire lit in the centre of the room in winter, very warm, very clean and cosy. we stayed in a double room, which was comfortable. Not too big, but really nice.
Really close to the caves around the Waitomo area and from the Otorohanga Kiwi House. There is a one year old dog in the property, likes to eat shoes that are left unattended in the common areas.

I travelled around NZ for a month, and this was my favorite hostel I stayed in. The overall vibe and all the travellers were upbeat and friendly. It was cool having both the hostel rooms inside and camping spots outside. The pool was an awesome feature, hosts were friendly and helpful, and I loved having the two pigs, goat, deer, and George the dog around! It was such a nice secluded and quiet location, but close enough to drive to restaurants within 10 minutes. Walls were a bit thin, and beds and pillows weren't overly comfortable, but hey, that's how it usually works at hostels. Shared bathrooms were always clean and lots of hot water. Would recommend for sure!

We stayed here with our caravan so can't comment on the dorms/kitchen facilities, but found the host very helpful and accommodating (if a little eccentric!). We felt welcome (including the dog) and the kids enjoyed having Snowdrop the deer in the paddock at the back. The smell from the pigs was a little overpowering at times, but if you can cope with that there's access to a tennis court via the paddock. There's a great DVD selection and TV in the main cabin and also some board games for the kids to enjoy too.

We spent a very enjoyable couple of nights here in our campervan on our way down the north island. The site itself was quiet and secluded, with a number of animals nearby, including cows, sheep, pigs and a deer! The communal facilities are comprehensive and clean, with extensive and comfortable seating both inside and on the large verandah which surrounds the building. But what makes Juno Hall particularly special is Dave, the manager (and his dog, George), who has a quirky sense of humour and a heart of gold, often going above and beyond to help guests and is also a mine of information.
Go visit - it is a gem!

An excellent place to stay and great value for money. Management is friendly and they have farm animals on-site for animal lovers enjoyment.

We stayed two nights on a powered site in August, the communal facilities were nice and warm, the Wi-Fi in the lodge area was sufficient, and we could still get signal in our van but, not strong enough for online videos there, best to do that inside. We would stay here again.

The staff, location, cleanliness, hot showers, great wifi, well equipped kitchen & lounge ….. Max the small dog, all make Juno Hall one of my favourite places, whether I stay in the lodge or camp outside.
I really enjoy bringing visitors here, or even stopping over when enroute through the region. So close to waterfalls, caves, natural bridge.

The hostel in itself is ok. Shower and bathrooms are clean. Kitchen is good. Bed are acceptable but tend to cave in.

What made this experience really terrible for us (I’m travelling with my cousin) was the manager. He barged in our room without a knock or a word at 11pm screaming incomprehensible words and throwing people things around the room violently. This was a very scary moment because he never said who he was; I really taught my life was in danger. We finally understood that he was asking if there was any free beds in the room. Then he stormed off. He came back, screaming and swearing again, with two girls that looked absolutely terrified of him (apparently he had just done the same thing in front of them in another room next door). He had also screamed at the girls because they checked in too late. We asked him who he was the second time he came in the room and he just screamed “I’M THE MANAGER!” and then stormed off again. The whole thing was so disrespectful and unprofessional. It felt super unsafe to stay there after. I would highly recommend to stay elsewhere just because of him. I feel like he needs medical attention.

Great pool! It was unexpected & well used! Friendly, welcoming staff & a gorgeous wee dog running around as well (George.) Loved the kune kune piglets running around the grounds well. Excellent value for money. Awesome location.

The females shower room could do with a bit of a spruce up although it is a YHA. Also the Wi-Fi does t appear to reach down to the powered sites but the pool.

Most likely you can get an Intercity bus to Otorohanga which is the nearest town, but really you do need a vehicle.
