Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A fabulous place to stay on the Timber Trail if you want to a unique experience with a dash of luxury!! Quirky accommodation with luxury linen, a hot tub and a lodge with all the comforts but with a retro feel. There is a pool table, games and books, a fireplace if needed and a short walk to a beautiful waterfall. Rachel and Mark are superb hosts, and the food was first class. Would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation - an unforgettable experience. The bike ride was also pretty awesome!

We had a most enjoyable stay at Blackfern Lodge (2 nights), delightfully quirky accomodation, a relaxing spa for after a great day riding the Timber trail, and incredibly accomodating hosts Mark and Rachael. The food was great and being catered made for a very relaxing stay. The bush location is lovely, with a short waterfall walk and whio (we didn’t get to see - possibly as heavy rain had made river levels rise). Would absolutely recommend a visit and stay here

Absolutely awesome one night stay. Stunning walk in the setting sun down by the river and to the waterfall. Great to meet your neighbours (Mr and Mrs Goat and the kids). Lovely and friendly hosts with a delicious home cooked meal. Loved the Forge, the woolshed brought back memories of growing up on a sheep and beef farm. Thanks so much! Ben and Hayley

Unique and quirky in the best way possible, would be a great place for a party. Loved the spa after the big hill at the end of the ride. There is charging points for ebikes. Definitely would stay again and enjoyed that there was no wifi. We felt free.!!

This place is amazing. Really comfortable, clean and so much fun - with a funky feel to it, yet in the middle of nowhere in a georgeous valley only minutes walk from a picture perfect waterfall. A bit of a cycle off the Timber Trail, however definitely worth the extra effort. Rachael is a great host, with a sense of fun that matches the place.

A marvelous, uncomplicated stay. Credit goes to 'mine host' Rachel - brilliant. The venue and surrounds is very special and worth a stay on its own. Think retreat. The first day's hour trip to the starting point of the timber trail had real meaning through the marvelous commentary provided by Rob. Great hearing such a well balanced and positive commentary.

What a fantastic place to stay! Everything from the comfy beds, delicious meal and quirky decor including the dressups were just perfect. Loved the waterfall for an icy dip after our ride with a warm soak in the spa after. Rachael and Mark do an awesome job as hosts. Thanks for a great 3 night stay.

As we rode/pushed out bikes up the steep hill (which we knew about!) at the end of the track to Blackfern Lodge we were glad the Bush Lokey ride back to the top is available when leaving. Rachel and Mark are friendly, helpful hosts. The Lodge is rustic, quirky and perfectly clean and comfortable with great facilities - indoor and out - and dress up outfits for the fun loving : ) While the dinner was adequate as foodies we were somewhat disappointed. Hot pots with accompanying hot veg dishes appears to be the standard fare - more for mid-winter than mid-summer - and a piece each of shop bought cake/slice for dessert. The ham/salad wrap packed lunch and snacks were enjoyable the next day. I would recommend Blackfern Lodge as a place to enjoy a back country stay in a peaceful environment.

Highly recommend!!! Amazing, friendly hospitality. Beautiful peaceful location. Don't be put off by the 6km off the trail (different pine forest that's different to all the trial) and they can even drop you back at the top the next day. Blue ducks by the waterfall! Delicious evening meal and lunches. Shuttles and car transfer effortless. Comfy beds. Thanks for an awesome stay
