Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved it here - made to feel really at home. Lovely quiz on the first evening - made to feel really included by the onsite staff. Great beach and lovely town. Brilliant atmosphere and very relaxing. Had our own unit with ensuite, which was lovely. So friendly.

Loved our stay here with a helpful family who also have great tours you can join. Comfortable space although limited kitchen and no washing machine but this was fine as you can walk 10 mins up the road in to the centre of town. 3 mins to the beautiful beach. Totally recommend

One of the best hostels I've stayed in NZ! Super chilled, good vibes, nice and clean place. The owners are real friendly. Great location, really close to the beach and the surf. Definitely coming back.

We stayed here while doing a bit of a road trip around coromandle. The atmosphere was nice and the other guests were nice to chat with but it was hard to figure out who actually worked here and the building it's self was poorly maintained and cleaning seemed to be minimal at best with only one bathroom for all the guests to share and the room we had the blinds didn't work properly and it had a glass window to the kitchen which meant any talking was loud and lights came straight in at night. The "complementary breakfast" was a bit of a joke as it was just a egg on the BBQ and some toast. All round it's what you get for paying $32pn

It's good to have feed back to better our place. Blinds are ordered. 4 staff live on premises and when working wear shirts surf n stay. Breakfast is 2 eggs and unlimited toast with jam and tea or coffee, rather fair and better than nothing. It's cooked on the bbq as kiwis do on holiday, which gives travellers a time to get together. We hope your roady continues well. :)

This hostel was great. The staff was very friendly and open minded. There is a really nice big terrace outside where you can soak up the sun :) It is located a few minutes walk from one of the most beautiful beaches you can imagine.
There is a communal area with a TV and a small kitchen. Beds in the 6-bed dorm were comfortable and there was a free breakfast included. You also have great deals on Kayaks and surf scool. I would recommend it if you like nice homely hostels.

I came here to surf for a while and this hostel has everything a surftourist would need. Good breakfast for the energy, variety of surfboards and a good vibe.
The size of the hostel makes it possible to be very clean and you get to know people easily!
Keep up the good work!

Me and a friend stayed there for 6 night, enjoyed nice surf, good instructors, amazing yoga and an overall lovely staff.

Not the biggest dorms but with the essentials, same goes for the kitchen. One toilet for the hole floor but it was nice and clean.
