Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We realised that our journey to the Coromandel Peninsula was going to take quite a while from the Bay of Islands - in fact due to errors in navigation it actually took us 7 hours to get here and it was such a relief to see our fantastic room at Brenton Lodge. This certainly is 5 star accommodation set in a lovely hill top garden setting. All of the guest rooms are separate to the owners accommodation which is more private and less intrusive for the hosts. Our room was spacious and so very clean and all facilities were excellent. We had a little private balcony overlooking the ocean. It is very well situated and we walked along the beach that evening prior to relaxing in a lovely comfortable bed for the night.
On arrival we were asked our breakfast choices by completing a form which we were able to leave outside for the hosts. The following sunny morning breakfast was served on the terrace and it was by far the best breakfast we had throughout New Zealand - Eegs Benedict and smoked salmon to die for! There are 3 rooms and it was so nice to have breakfast served on a individual table alongside the other guests but far enough away to have a quiet breakfast if preferred. Through bed and breakfasts in NZ the majority of breakfast are served on a large table sitting with other guests which does not always suit all people.
Our hosts were attentive but discrete - perfect!

All suites are located on the first floor, offering the best vistas towards the town of Whangamata and the Pacific beyond.
The garden is beautiful; has several seating areas, both in the shade and in the sun and a small swimming pool.
The Garde Suite is a beautiful sunny room with a small balcony.
Breakfast is a feast and a treat, with choices for hot dishes; and served outside weather permitting.
Sallie and David are splendid hosts.

We had a very comfortable room which was well equipped & fabulous views. Breakfast in the garden was lovely. Sallie was very welcoming & gave us local tips & organised a taxi to take us into town for dinner. We enjoyed relaxing in the garden with a glass of wine. A great place to stay.

We stayed 2 nights at Brenton Lodge at the beginning of March and were greeted by owner Sallie. Although we arrived early (to see where it was) Sallie said our lodge was all ready for us and we could go straight in. The lodge was beautifully kept, clean and spacious, with a superb veranda to sit on at night with a bottle of wine and snacks. The sunrise the first morning was glorious, looking from the veranda across to the sea. Breakfast on the outside terrace was plentiful, tasty and freshly cooked. Sallie was an excellent host and very knowledgeable with local sites, trips and venues. I would strongly recommend this for anyone wanted peaceful, restful accommodation in a great setting, with hosts that can't do enough for you.

You will get a warm welcome from Sallie and David to this beautiful property with views over to the sea. Our room was spacious with comfy bed and lounge area, and well appointed. The bathroom was modern and everywhere was spotless.
The breakfasts cooked by David were delicious and offered a good choice. The garden was lovely and the pool inviting, although we didn’t try it out.
We were offered information about dining in the town and what to see. The wharf area and beach were attractive. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here.

Such a lovely spot to stay in while in Whangamata. Kerrie and Neville we're really the perfect hosts and made sure we had everything we needed while staying. The room itself was spotless and we were provided with a lovely breakfast each day. The accommodation is a short drive into town, walking takes a little longer but a path runs from the property to the edge of Whangamata which allows you to avoid the roads. Would highly recommend.

On arrival you drive into an amazing view on the beautiful gardens and coastal view beyond. We stayed in Moana 1st floor. An extremely well equipped apartment with very lovely quality decor and furnishings. A great little cupboard opens up to reveal a mini pantry with kettle, coffee maker, toaster and fridge. With yummy looking prepared breakfast items. The views were amazing. The bed the best ever. We loved it wished we could have stayed for longer. Many thanks to the owners.

This is a lovely bed and breakfast. Our room was on the first floor and our terrace was almost in among the trees where several fantails came close, letting us see them easily. The breakfast cupboard was really well stocked. The towels were thick and fluffy and the bed was very comfy. The lodges are set in a lovely garden and there is also a swimming pool. We can highly recommend this B & B! We only stayed one night but would happily have stayed there longer.

Whangamata, New Zealand20 contributions9 helpful votes
Hi Georgia, my sincere apologies, due to covid and some changes with the TripAdvisor website, I completely missed your question. The short answer to your question is that we are generally booked with international guests so haven't considered ever holding weddings, and not even sure that the property would be suitable. I hope that you have managed to find somewhere suitable.
