Detailed Reviews
We stumbled upon this place on a day trip from Whangamata. Christine at reception is truly one of the most genuine, relaxed, and helpful people ever to sit at a front desk. The feel of the place is complete luxury and privacy combined. Absolute perfect getaway. And absolute beyond belief value for the $150 charge for the night. Divine beds, spotless, modern, perfect getaway. The beach is seconds away and there's virtually NOBODY there. Town has one cafe - closed Mon and Tues.

California family visiting the islands looking for the best place to stay on the beautiful north island coastline and we found it!! These chalets are clean, warm, and comfy. Very reasonable prices and beautiful location. If you want the best beach chalets on the island they are here, very friendly small neighborhood and a wonderful beach to enjoy when you wake up. This place is a must! Thank you for everything!

The chalets in Onemana are amazing. They are huge and can sleep up to 8 people, but my partner and had a chalet to ourselves. It was a bit more pricey than we were generally paying at £70,but was so gorgeous it mad it a bargain.
Christine and Paul were extrenely helpful, taking us late in the day when we couldn't find a room up the coast. The huge chalets have been furnished beautifully, with really modern kitchen (with everything in it you could need), lovely materials and really nice touches to make it feel more like a home.
The chalets have wrap around balconies so you can have dinner outside and bigs tvs in the living room. After staying in chalets on campsites for a couple of weeks, this really was an amazing stay. Would definately recommend if you want a quiet stay somewhere a bit luxurios. Fabulous!
Leave yourself time to use the free spa.

We had booked 3 nights for 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 3 at the Onemana Beach Chalets. We were given chalet number 8 - the chalets looked nice from the outside. However when the door was opened we were met with a terrible smell we tried to get rid of the smell by opening windows and even drove to the supermarket to buy a fragrance dispenser but we could not get rid of the smell. The carpet was disgusting, in bare feet it felt wet and sticky, the curtains were mouldy and it was generally in need of a mayor refurbishment. We managed to stay for one night but we checked out the next morning. We would not recommend staying in Chalet 8 unless it had been refurbished.

We hired 3 chalets for a trip away with friends. We had chalets 8,4 and 5. 4 and 5 were really nice, well presented and immaculately maintained. Chalet 8 was a bit of a dive. Rotting wood, peeling wallpaper, and foundations that felt like the building was going to collapse. With an extreme makeover it could be as nice as the rest but it’s hardly fair to be charging the same price for such different properties. The could who ran the place were lovely and tried to be sympathetic but there’s not really much they could do with what they have.

We regularly come to Onemana for relaxation and a chance to recharge and the Chalets have everything we need. Christine the manager is wonderful and keeps the place running smoothly and looking great. The beach is quiet, soft beautiful sand and close to Whangamata for supplies and shopping.

We had a wonderful time in such a scenic location. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had everything we needed to enjoy our time. With two boys (8 and 6), this was the perfect spot to relax. I would go back in a heartbeat!

We happened upon these charming cottages within walking distance of the beach and hiking trails. The owners were so friendly and helpful letting us check in early and giving us boogie boards to use for our stay. The cottage was clean with comfortable beds. Cleaning and linens were including in the cost. It was a great deal especially if you have kids who could sleep upstairs in the loft trundle beds. This unit also included use of the beach club with a pool and private jacuzzis. We will definitely come back to this quiet location again!!

We stayed at the chalets for 4 nights with 3 teenage kids and it was wonderful. Managers are very friendly and helpful, the beach is close by and the chalets are spacious and well equipped. Kids loved the loft.

My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed at the Onemana Chalets in January 2014 and we loved our visit. Christine was a great manager who accommodated us, assisted us with finding different restaurants, attractions in the area, and helped me a great deal when I was trying make my reservation. I was making the reservation via Skype internationally and the connection was bad, we kept getting cut off, but Christine was very patient.
Accommodations: My wife and I agree that when we retire we want to own a home like the chalet in which we stayed. The size is right, there is enough room for everyone. I loved being able to park our car next to the chalet. Fully stocked kitchen with utensils, we enjoyed making our own meals and eating on the deck overlooking the entire property. My wife and I agree that the chalet is one of the nice properties were we have stayed.
Location: Within walking distance of a beautiful beach with not many people on it. My family and I made great use of the beach.
Onemana is a small town about 8km from Whangmata. In Whangmata, we found a variety of places to eat, including a good Indian restaurant. We enjoyed seeing all the Santas on surfboards from the light posts in while in Whangmata.
I highly recommend this property and I look forward to staying there again. Can't say enough about the property and Christine. My family and I had a great experience!
