Villa IL COLTO is a beautiful villa on three floors located in the countryside just outside of a small town. Due to its location on the top of a small hill, it is thought that the villa was once a look out tower for a nearby castle. It was later transformed into a family villa and was once owned by the renowned Medici family from Florence. The villa is set in a garden with its own private pool and has views to the surrounding countryside and towards the local town, which has avariety of local shops as well as a supermarket, restaurants and bars (1km).

This vacation was wonderful. The Villa is more beautiful than it’s pictures, plenty of room for us (we were 10 in total). Laura and Elena are right there to address any questions or concerns. Communication is prompt and effective (like when we couldn’t remember where the pool lights turn on and off). We were three generations from four different countries, this Villa really helped to make it a memorable vacation. The location allowed us to visit so many beautiful towns like Lucca, Florence, San Gimignano, etc. Even the 1.5 hour drive to Viareggio beach is worth it.

We had the once in a lifetime experience of staying at this extraordinary villa a couple of weeks ago. There were 7 of us.. all siblings/inlaws. Laura and Elena were warm, accommodating and gracious hosts. The villa was incredibly lovely, so clean, open and spacious with 5 or 6 areas where we could all gather to hang out, eat, swim, have coffee or a glass of wine. Honestly, we could have been happy staying for a month. It is a 5 minute walk to town and perfectly located for drives to the many surrounding beautiful Tuscan towns like San Gimignano, Lucca, Pienza etc. We also had 2 exceptional meals prepared for us by the charming Simona and her adorable son Daniele. They prepared and served the most beautiful and delicious food. Thank you Laura and Elena for sharing your beautiful villa with us and giving us an experience that far exceeded anything our bucket list would have imagined.

We were a little nervous that Villa Il Colto wouldn't look as nice in real life as it did in the photos. In the end we needn't have worried, as it in fact looked far nicer than we were expecting. The house is beautiful, the gardens, swimming pool and outdoor dining areas are all very well maintained and the bedrooms were all spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and (importantly!) well air conditioned. The kitchen was fantastic, and with 8 of us staying for a week we were very grateful for all of the available cupboard / larder / fridge and freezer space. We also loved unexpected touches like the pizza oven (built into the side of the house), books and games inside the house, and the table tennis table. Laura & Elena were lovely - it's easy to see how much pride they take in sharing their family's home with visitors to Tuscany (which is, obviously, a stunning part of the world). We felt lucky to visit, and would love to return one day. Thank you!

Villa il Colto is the the perfect Villa for your Italian vacation! Laura and Elena have really created something special. The villa is well appointed, clean, and has everything you need. We enjoyed the pool, the ping-pong table, and the new sitting/dining area. Not to mention the gorgeous views!!! We were a family of 7 ranging from 13-76 and there was something for everyone.
Thanks to their suggestions, we were able to hire a driver to go the outlet mall and train station, tour guides that picked us up from the villa to tour Siena, Arezzo and other smaller medieval towns, a walking tour in Florence, and a guided bike tour. We also had 3 nights with their private chef, Simona, who we adored!
Another nice perk is the small, quaint town of Terranuova Braccolini. It’s about a 5 minute walk downhill (15 back up) where there is a nice local bar, gelato place, pizzeria, butcher, bakery, fruit stand, etc. The more fit members of our group made the walk back and forth a few times, even bringing back pizzas one night.
Staying at Villa il Colto is like staying with family with warm and attentive hosts. The location, gorgeous surroundings, and amenities that you can add on, make for an easy and rich experience. Buon Viaggio!

We recently stayed at Villa il Colto with friends for our 20th anniversary. The hosts are two lovely sisters, Elena and Laura, and this was their family home. It has been renovated to the highest level and couldn't fault anything in the house. All bedrooms are very comfortable and have every amenity you need for a great nights sleep. The kitchen is enormous and was comfortable for all of us to gather together and prepare meals. They have just built a new outdoor area that has a table for 12, separate sitting area and hot tub. We spent our evenings here enjoying the fabulous view and the local wine and food we purchased that day. The villa is located just about 45 min south of Florence and easily accessible to the hill towns in Tuscany. Must say this was the best villa we have ever rented in all of our travels. Thank you Elena and Laura for being such amazing hosts and we will definitely be back to stay with you!

This villa has everything and more that that you would want in a place to stay in Tuscany - fabulous and varied accommodations, furnishings and supplies galore, a stunning view of the valley with gorgeous sunsets most evenings, a lovely pool, and numerous "getaway" spots. Laura and Elena are perfect hosts and went out of their way to make us comfortable, even helping us with emergency medical needs. The villa is well located for touring Tuscany - less than an hour from Florence; 2-3 hours from the Amalfi coast, Pisa, Luca, & San Gimignano; 30 minutes to Arezzo; and walkable to the lovely town of Terranuova Bracciolini. The grocery, pharmacy, restaurants, and bakeries are also close, most within walking distance. I can't say enough good about this villa and the hosts and highly recommend it.

We recently stayed at the villa with two other couples. It was beyond our expectations! The villa has all the amenities you need to make as comfortable as home.
It is well located to explore Florence, Rome, Cinque Terre and many of the quaint small towns in Tuscany for the day.
Elena and Laura were always available to help us with any needs or questions we had.
We could not have asked for better or friendlier hosts!
The best part of our day was coming home to the fabulous meals prepared by their
talented chefs whether sitting on the new patio with the spectacular view of the countryside or the other outside dining area.
I highly recommend Villa il Colto. You will not be disappointed!
It is well located to explore Florence, Rome, Cinque Terre and many of the quaint small towns in Tuscany for the day.

We began planning this first week of our Italian vacation over a year ago. The wait was well worthwhile. The Villa is spectacular, a home away from home. Elena and Laura are delightful, welcoming and quick to reply to questions, make recommendations and assist in any way possible. Enhancements to the property-a hot tub, an additional covered seating area overlooking spectacular foliage against the mountain backdrop, additional dining area and barbecue-are all up to the highest of standards as one would expect. And arranging for chefs Simone and Claudio to prepare gourmet dinners and delicious pizzas is a must. We did not look forward to the end of a fabulous week and strongly recommend the Villa and its hosts.

Our family spent five fantastic days at the Villa it is a beautiful house on the hill was a beautiful views in all directions close to all major sites
The house is beautiful restored with Updated bathrooms with meticulous attention to detail huge kitchen with everything you need to keep your family fed and the large table to eat at. Close to the small town with supermarkets and restaurants, close to Arezzo Sienna and Florence.
Hosts are fantastic easy to reach speak excellent English and very nice.

Villa il Colto is a beautiful spot well suited for a family holiday, especially a multi-generational stay like ours. The hosts, Laura & Elena were so welcoming and helpful before and during our stay. They couldn’t have been more accommodating. We had two special meals - one pizza and the other pasta - selected from their list of chef options. Both Claudio and Simona were excellent chefs. We hope to make a return visit in tue future.

Florence and Arezzo are only half an hour by car or train, Siena is around 40 minutes by car and the Chianti is literally on the doorstep. Cortona is also around an hour from the Villa and there's plenty of lessa known but inspiring places to visit nearby like the historic Medieval Town of Loro Ciuffenna with its beautiful tower, bridge and waterfalls and Pieve di Gropina or the hidden Art treasures in the churches in San Giovanni Valdarno...all a Stone thrown from the Villa !
