Gouves Water Park Holiday Resort is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and family-oriented amenities, such as the water slides and pools that are a hit with many travelers. While the rooms are generally clean and spacious, some guests have found them to be basic or noisy. The hotel's cleanliness earns high marks, with spotless facilities and diligent housekeeping. Service is mostly praised for being friendly and efficient, though there are occasional mentions of rudeness. Despite its appealing location near beaches and attractions, reviewers warn that the value is diminished by pricey extras and unexpected charges.

We have just returned from the Gouves Water Park Resort. Stayed for a week Sept 6th-13th. The hotel is great for kids with the water park and there are plenty pools and sunbeds although I can imagine in the height of peak season this may not be the case. We had only been in resort 1 day when the UK applied the quarantine on return and with not wanting to cut our stay short we just enjoyed the remainder of our holiday.
Rooms are supposed to be cleaned every 2 days but ours wasn't and on day 4 I had to ask twice for it to be cleaned and for fresh towels which were eventually just left outside of the room about 5pm.
The food is fine, breakfast is what you expect from a basic all Inclusive, there's hotdogs, gyros, pizza and chips at the outside snack bar all day and on an evening there was always a nice selection on the Chinese section my criticism would be that I felt the staff didn't listen and just piled food on the plate and I don't think I was once served with a smile.
The drinks are as standard for an all inclusive very weak and not much voice if you don't want to drink the sugary cocktail mixes but on the whole we're drinkable. The all inclusive stops at 11pm and the staff are very strict about this we did pay for drinks after this however the baileys I got for 6 euros was definitely not genuine baileys. My advice would be to stick with the zeus bar. Stavros was the best barman and the atmosphere here is way better than the main bar and the payable drinks are the real thing and cheaper.
Gouves itself is a quiet resort there are a few bars/restaurants along the beach (turn right at the beach road) Hersonissos is a short taxi ride away cost us €17 each way but worth it for a bit more lively atmosphere and nice meal out.
We were a little late checking out on the morning as we had gone to the beach for breakfast and on return our key card was inactive. Receptionist was extremely rude and didn't reactivate key card so the cleaner had to let us in to get our bags.

All in all we had a nice relaxing holiday and will definitely return to Greece but will go somewhere a bit more lively next time

We appreciate all your comments concerning your experience at Gouves Water Park and for your time to write this review. Unfortunately due covid-19 and Greek protocol we can't go in the rooms every day for cleaning but every 3 overnights. As about the issue about the payable drinks i would like to inform you that both bars serve the same drinks and also they have the same prices. On behalf of the entire team here , thank you so much for selecting our hotel for your holidays. We look forward to having the opportunity to welcome you again. Kind regards

We booked a late deal for Crete and travelled as a family with a four year old. We had a brilliant week away and there were some great aspects to this hotel. Being very honest there were minor things that could be improved but nothing that really impacted our stay and we went with very realistic expectations for what we paid.
We stayed in a standard room and it was exactly as described. The room was fairly basic but was very clean with a modern bathroom. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard and had everything we needed although I would suggest more storage space is needed. There are a variety of room types which you can pay to upgrade to and some of these did look fantastic but we literally just wanted a week away and don't spend much time in the room so chose to stay in the room we had.
The complex itself is well maintained and is great for families with a number of pool areas and waterslides for all age groups. There was entertainment on every day and the shows we went to were good but we we did go out on a few nights too.
The food was varied and there was stations for grilled food, pasta and also some traditional Greek food available which we loved. The pizza and gyros were really nice too at the pool bar. The restaurant did get busy at times but there is a guide outside which advised on busy times so worth checking that. Some of the soft drinks were a little unusual tasting but a few to choose from so not a major issue. The beer was a bit of an acquired taste but got better after a while!
The main bar could get busy on a night but we preferred the Zeus bar which was quieter and managed by Stavros who took real pride in the bar and looked after us really well. Our little girl loved him!
The hotel is located in a quiet area and only a few minutes walk to the beach and I would recommend heading out to explore the local area. Pella Restaurant on the seafront was great! We also got the local bus to Hersonissos and Heraklion which I would definitely recommend!
Overall we had a really good holiday. The hotel is clean, well maintained with friendly staff and good facilities for families.

Spa is perfect!
The massage is amazing and you get extra 15 minutes because you are a guest from the hotel. Prices are affordable and the service is very professional sure to try, I would recommend

Me and my family had to change to this resort with just a week to go and we have no regrets, we arrived on site early on the Wednesday and managed to get a good 10 hours worth of swimming and exploring the hotel site.

Food.
Breakfast is what you would expect on holiday, but there is a good variety given the restrictions due to Covid.
Lunch there is a good variety in the restaurant but the Gyros, and Hotdogs they serve at the snack bar are to good to miss, they also do two varieties of pizza and some cold sandwiches/mini Baguettes.
Dinner, they again have covid restrictions in place but the food was OK and after a few days there was more of a choice for the children, they have a Chinese food section which is superb and my go to choice of meal
Puddings were your usual Greek pudding with some added surprises and very good flavours.

Water Park
There are plenty of pools to choose from around the resort,
you have the big slides with a 1.5 meter pool next to them
The splash pool which is fun for everyone
There is a two tier big pool which is very spacious and quite relaxing to be near
You also have a 3 tier children's pool where there is a few slides a 0.95 meter pool and a toddler pool with two slides.
There is a small pool bar which is 1.27 meters so fun for all.

Entertainment
Given the late season and the lack of able planning you cannot fault the efforts given by Lion the Animation manager for his interaction with the guests and how he orchestrated his team, they currently have various activities available, some are in the pool bar but you also have Darts, Table Tennis, and water volleyball.
Of the night time there is a mini disco followed by a show and on certain days there is bingo or a raffle in between so again there's plenty for everyone.
There are also a number of games for people to enjoy, pool, air hockey etc.

Resort
The resort is well maintained, and presented extremely well, there are a number of new buildings which are helping with the current climate and making it easier for them to be open, the general housekeeping is good and they seem to take care in presentation and cleanliness, there is a small shop on site with a small variety of everything you would need whilst here.

Bars
There is one main bar during the covid 19 protocols, but the service is quick and pretty accurate, but of an evening there is another bar which has live sport and the same selection of drinks.
There is a little bar next to the 3 tier family pool which has a small selection of drinks available.

I would like to see what it is like during peak season without the restrictions in place as I believe this place would be packed and have plenty more to offer. I will look at coming back in the future.

We visited on 2nd June for an 8 day stay (family of 4 with a 5 & 7yr old)

Positives:
Friendly staff
Clean and tidy resort
Good house keeping service and linen
Varied size/depth of pools and water slides
Lunchtime food pizza, gyros and chips
Unlimited ice cream
Powerful shower & hairdryer in our room

Negatives:
Same food on a daily basis! Not much variety.
Murky pool water (as the days went on)
Alcohol watered down
20€ for taxi anywhere you go
Pricy mini market on site

We arrived on 2nd June at 1:30am to which we had to wait over 60mins to check into our room (only one person behind reception) we were each given a warm bottle of water and a ham baguette.

We booked into a “family room” 1016 which was located by the main pool next to the kids rides! (see pics)
Constant music from the varying kids rides day and night!!!
Leaking balcony which held water on the floor.
Two single beds pushed together for our “double bed”
TV was placed behind the door

We requested a late check out (happy to pay for another day, as we had a late flight 23:40pm or were happy to move to another room)
We were advised to come back on 3 separate occasions to be told they would let us know. On the morning of check out we were told that they were unable to accommodate any room. However we were able to use communal showers and place our cases in stored location.
The cost to keep a room on varied between 80€ to 70€ (depending upon the type of room)

Overall a nice holiday with friends however I personally would be return to this resort as they do not accommodate families especially with late check outs!!!

Currently staying here for eleven nights. Place is beautiful Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Under the current COVID situation the staff are all wearing masks face shields and gloves Social distancing is in place with markers all around resort. The food is tasty although reduced menu still plenty of choice staff serve you wearing PPE and behind a screen so it’s quick and safe plenty of snacks ( pizza fries sandwiches and delicious chicken gyros ) throughout the day at snack bars a range of drinks including cocktails also on offer at bars on all inclusive. Entertainment team are great with children and Lion is the best ents manager always on the go entertaining everyone from aqua fit to fire breathing. several pools with plenty of sun beds. Bar staff friendly especially Stavros in Zues bar who is funny and a genuine lovely guy who makes the best cocktails and a welcoming shot also great to chat to. Cleaners constantly around pool cleaning up especially a lovely happy lady who always says hello and asks how you are. Mini market on sight for any essentials
This hotel is by far one of the best hotels my family and I have stayed in couldn’t fault it. Ten minute walk to beach. Under COVID restrictions I wasn’t sure what to expect but this hotel has had me and my family at ease and we have had a fabulous holiday would recommend this hotel to everyone you won’t be disappointed and can’t wait to return next year

We have just returned from a week at the hotel with a 7 & 9 yr old.
This is a great holiday for families and the price you pay is great for what you get. This is not a 5* sandals resort if that is what you want.
Pros
Location to the airport 30 mins
Location to the small sandy beach 5 mins walk
Room size is good.
Comfortable beds
Modern bathrooms with hairdryer
Lovely clean pools
Great water park for kids and adults to enjoy.
Friendly staff-
Maria at the Poseidon pool bar. She was happy to teach you basic Greek phrases.
Stavros at Zeus bar in the evening always had a smile.
The GM and the Restaurant manager are trying their best to manage Social Distancing and make it a pleasant experience for all. Shame some don't listen.
Good selection of food. Something for everyone and large portion size. Although they could do with giving smaller portions as you see alot of waste.
The serving staff in the Restaurant are both pleasant and humorous.
Good courtesy shower rooms and towels available.

Cons (feedback more than negative)
Need more storage in the rooms. Only 1 wardrobe for 4 people. A set of draws would be great.
Luggage storage you have to pay for in small lockers 2€ each.
Drinks package is the only thing that needs improving. If you are use to AL you may be disappointed. The cocktails included are not fresh cocktail and more pre made which are not very nice you have to pay for the good ones. Mojito etc...
The rose wine is quite nice and the beer is ok. We stuck to ouzo and lemonade which were defo Greek measures . Bonus!

Just returned from this resort 4 adults and a toddler. Had a great family holiday however the cons of this hotel definitely outweigh the pros.

Pros
Hotel is great for kids during the day with a variety of pools, water slides and splash park.
Rooms are a good size
Snack bar serves pizza, kebabs and chips all day so great for kids. Ice cream also available all day
Breakfast has a good variety
Desserts are plentiful and always very varied
Staff are mostly very friendly and helpful - especially Maria at the pool bar and the guy who works in the bar which shows the football (didn’t get his name)
Only 15 mins from the airport
Close to the beach and town - both within a 10 minute walk. Some lovely bars and restaurants in the town

Cons
Lack of storage in rooms, not enough space for a family
Shower doesn’t drain properly and constantly floods the bathroom
Cleanliness of rooms very poor, had to request clean towels as these weren’t always provided and bathroom and floor only cleaned occasionally with a dirty mop!
Pool side also dirty, floor mopped each morning but again was a dirty mop!
Food very repetitive and overcooked. Restaurant had a canteen feel with no atmosphere
Have to pay €20 euros for a safe
Soft drinks eg coke/lemonade are cheap sugary versions and alcoholic drinks are very weak and tasteless
If you want a decent alcoholic drink you have to pay and the bar staff prioritise you if you are paying. This is also the only way to get a glass, even wine is served in a plastic cup unless you pay a premium!
Mini disco does not start until 8.30 which is too late for most kids, there is nothing else for kids in the evening eg a park/swings or slides

We have stayed at many all inclusive hotels and this is by far not the worst however this was not a cheap holiday and we did expect the little things like having a glass not a plastic cup of an evening or having the floor cleaned in our room daily as this hotel does class itself as 5 stars!

We stayed for a week during school half term of October. The hotel is on a fairly big site, quite spread out and much of it has been built within the last few years. There are 4 main large pools, and then rooms on the outskirts with their own more private pools. We paid extra for a swim up pool where the edge of the pool was right outside our room, but it meant we were a bit of a walk from the main bar, and our outside area was always in the shade. The main pools are child focused, the 4 slides and large kids pool play areas are really good. The food is decent quality but it doesn't vary much from day to day, and there is not a massive choice. Great gyro can be had from the poolside bar during the day. All the staff are very friendly and work very hard. The alcohol on the all inclusive cocktails is horrid (presumably cheap) local spirits, for during the day I went to the local supermarket and bought some cans of Mythos lager, better than the weak lager on the all inclusive. The small supermarket 5 minutes up the road is much cheaper than the supermarket at the hotel. Wifi in the room was poor (kids couldn't play Fortnite, maybe a good thing..) and the only channel our TV would pick up in the room was english speaking French news (no BBC etc). Gouves itself has not much to offer at all, lots of bars and hotels that look as though they were abandoned many years ago, and the beach is not great. The aquarium on the edge of Gouves is worth a visit, as is the popular Knossos Palace.

Booked this holiday last year and to be honest i was not disappointed with the standard of facilities that the hotel had to offer .I had booked 2 family rooms and there was so much room in each of the rooms and have never had such comfy beds so made for a good nights sleep rooms cleaned every day .my grandkids were safe all the time we was there they were able to access all the water park features on there own it was well supervised at all times. Location was perfect for the beach which was only a 5min walk away only negative was the ques in the dinning room at meal times it was unfortunate that the ignorance of a certain european nation who just didnt have manners and wanted everything first did get better a couple of days before our holiday was over staff were very friendly would recommend this resort to any family

Its about 5-10 minutes walk from the Sea front, there are some watersports available on the beach there. We didn't go to either, but there is an Aquarium there too. There are some bars, restaurants and shops, but jump on the bus and its 15 mins to Hersonissos which is a bigger town, and about 30 mins on the bus to the capital Heraklion. Plenty to do in both of those areas. £5 on the bus, about £25 taxi

Yes there stuff to do nearby. There’s a small town nearby and they do trip to the capital which is worth going. There is also a dinosaur park nearby and a train that takes u round the area
