Wonderful accommodations and two of the most gracious hosts one could hope to find add up to the best of the best!Breakfast was served in their garden with the freshest of fruits and other goodies. We were especially impressed with our hosts love for what they do and their total embrace of their guests. Thank you, Ron and Susie!
A wonderful home within the city walls with a spectacular garden and owners, Ron and Susi, all combine to provide for an outstanding experience. We have been fortunate to have stayed here several times and always enjoy it immensely. Ron and Susi provide excellent suggestions for restaurants in town (and there are many excellent ones within easy walking distance). We have also received guidance and directions to many of the small hill towns around Barga that were a joy to explore. Love, love, love it here!!
One of the best experiences we have had in 44 years of travel. During our stay we enjoyed engaging with Ron and Susi, their hospitality, accomodations, food and the opportunityto meet our now dear friends from Scotland John & Rita Barga
We visit Casa Fontana most years (and sometimes twice or even three times!) We come back again and again for so many reasons: The house. Traditional and lovingly restored by Ron and Susi. Six varied rooms: one with a bath (the others have walk-in showers), two with balconies, unbelievably comfortable beds. No TV (which for us is a definite plus.) A comfortable sitting room and cantina breakfast room. A beautiful garden to sit in and chill with wine, beer or tea/coffee from the honesty bar. Great breakfasts with local produce (some very local, from the garden!). Ron and Susi are well on top of Covid requirements and depending on number of guests breakfast may be served in the garden or in rooms. The location. In a wonderful location inside the walls of Barga with lovely views. Fabulous walks from the door (Ron can provide laminated sheets with instructions) and many interesting sights in town such as the fabulous Duomo. There are great restaurants just a stroll away, plus coffee shops, and a gelateria. Note that although Barga is in Tuscany it is completely untouristy compared to many of the cities further south. No big chains of stores or coffee shops makes for a different atmosphere which, for us, is part of the attraction. Ron and Susi. Nothing is too much trouble and both take a pride in anticipating questions and having the answers ready. They are so well integrated into the local community that on the very rare occasion they don't have an answer they will know where to find it.…
I loved my stay at magical and relaxing stay at Casa Fontana. Ron and Susie, the owners, were lovely, warm and accommodating. I immediately felt like a long-time friend. The location was perfectly situated almost in the heart of town and within easy access to a free parking lot. I loved the garden, the views, great bed, and breakfast outside under the pergola. I highly recommend staying at Casa Fontana when visiting Barga or the Garfagnana especially during the jazz festival in August when the sounds of jazz waft through the Casa Fontana in the evening. .
