Detailed Reviews
While our room was quite small (it was upstairs in the old hotel part of the complex), it was well appointed, with a comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, good toiletries and a good shower with plenty of water pressure. Thee was a very quiet heat pump which provided adequate air conditioning for the hot February weather. (The room would've been like an oven without it!) There's good off-street parking and it's an easy walk into the main shopping centre.

We booked this hotel for a business trip to Whakatane and it was perfect. We occupied 10 of the units with free parking for each. The rooms are new, in good condition with excellent facilities such as microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery. The rooms are reset every day and very tidy. It's a great location with cafes and restaurants easy walking distance, I particularly enjoyed breakfast at White Island cafe a 2 minute walk away. The Comm Gastro Pub is next door and great for a drink or meal.
Diane who runs the hotel is incredibly helpful and accommodating. A really positive experience.

Only place I wanted to stay - the architecture, history, secure, lit, quiet and an unexpected, culturally significant waterfall I could hear from my bed - had the best sleep! Kind owner, down to earth and very grateful my requests were met. The ensuite is super clean, has a huge shower . . and a view of the waterfall. Modern and warm, everything I needed, an evening sunlit room, felt like home. Worth it, no regrets and definitely returning. Thanks very much Diane.

We had trouble finding any hotel with a vacancy so went to the Information Centre who after numerous phone calls were able to find us accommodation here. This is a very welcoming hotel providing great service. Loved the little dog, Osca. The room was clean and most comfortable. We would certainly stay here again. Very affordable.

We loved this Motel, absolutely spotless, great layout of the rooms, nobody next door, above to below you. Lovely friendly staff, very convenient for town & the great people of Whakatane. The Com is a great dinning venue next door, great safe & yummy food.

We have been to the motel several times and each time it has been absolutely perfect. From the super comfortable beds to the cute little doggy cuddles from the reception mascot, I couldn't ask for better. Will be staying twice in the month of October so can't wait.

We stayed 2 night here in the new studio room, upstairs. We were lucky with the traffic and got in earlier tha we thought but they quickly checked if our room was ready and it was. Great location- walk a couple of blocks and you will go past all the bars and restaurants you could want. We also had a great walk from here out to the heads and a quick walk around the corner to see the waterfall. Parking was easy on site too.

We had a wonderful two nights at The Com Plex in Whakatane at the end of December. Our rooms were in the old Bank building and we’re beautiful. So clean, comfortable beds, and plenty of room with a small kitchenette. Extremely helpful staff. Great recommendation for coffee just a short walk away. Perfect position for walking into town and to the playground and the heads. We definitely recommend this accommodation.

This was my second time staying here. The first time I stayed in an upstairs room in the historic building, and my second time I stayed in one of the new units.
Both times were good. Nice showers, large with good water pressure. Good size rooms, that are clean and tidy. Quiet.

I booked one of the newer rooms for an overnight stay. Perfectly clean, excellent shower, good sized room, very comfortable bed. The layout is great as there's no adjoining walls. Easy walk to the main strip for dining etc. Very friendly service.
