Alton Lodge Motel, Whakatane New Zealand. Close to the Pacific Coast Highway this mid-town Whakatane accommodation complex allows easy access to the famous Ohope Beach. A range of heat pump/air conditioned self contained unit sizes available, from a studio (Queen bed open plan within the living room) through to a 2 bedroomed unit (sleeps up to 7 people). Our indoor swimming pool is great for the whole family. Handy to restaurants, takeaways and hospital. Major credit cards and EFTPOS accepted. Take a leisurely stroll into Whakatane town centre or enjoy a round of golf at one of the 3 nearby golf courses. Other recreational options include White Island tours (which we can book for you), bush walks and a variety of water-based activities. Onsite we are equipped with high speed wireless internet and free parking. If you just need to relax there is a heated enclosed pool with outdoor barbeque facilities and outdoor seating.

Ideal facilities and location. There for an eight day work trip. Good wifi, good table to work at, comfy bed, good shower. Kitchen had everything I needed. House keeping was thoughtful but not intrusive. Very quiet neighbouring section (you’ll see why when you stay!). Good value rates too. Stayed in room no. 2.

We had booked a twin studio unit and this was just what we needed for the two nights, although not a unit for a long stay as there was not a lot of storage for clothes, other than the wardrobe, and a bathroom vanity would have been handy. There was no spare kitchen cupboard space for food supplies with all cupboards taken up with kitchen accessories, including the electric 2 burner cooker which was stored at the bottom and back of a cupboard (not easy to find and get out). However, on the plus side it was all very clean, the bed was very very comfortable, there were all the kitchen and bathroom accessories we needed, and the motel was handy for the venue where I was attending an event. It was surprisingly quiet considering the motel is on the main road into town. The pool was closed as not in season, but it looked nice and if it had been open I would probably have used it. Many thanks for your review and from what you say you were in one of our disability access units which has meant that the kitchen space has been limited and why there is no vanity. It has led to challenges for us to fit everything in. Glad everything else suited you.

we had a 2 bedroom unit which was nice and clean, well furnished very sunny full kitchen. heated pool. nice operators, cost effective and close to town. an older complex worth a visit. units are back from the road

Alton Lodge in Whakatane, was good value for money, but a bit tired.Some maintenance needed on some items. Friendly owners, very helpful. Clean unit. Well laid out. Close to town. Covered pool, warmed.

Alton Lodge was a pleasant stay (it was at the beginning of July 2020 so a few months ago!). We stayed in an excellent, well appointed and clean unit. Great price if booked through the motel. A car is needed as it is too far from the CBD to walk. Good restaurants to choose from in the CBD. We would recommend this motel and will stay again. Note: Our ratings are before COVID hence the "Not Sure" options taken regarding hand sanitizer extra.
