From the arrival time till the check out time we had an amazing experience. The hotel room was spacious open plan kitchenette lounge and sleeping space, with queen size bed and single bed, and in another room there were 2 single beds, ready for a family or friends stay, dining table, small fridge microwave tv sofa and the most amazing view from your balcony. Free tea coffee and drinking chocolate are available and milk in the fridge. Bed was very comfortable all kitchen utensils that you would want are available, shower pressure was great and they had amenities available if you left anything at home.

If you are going to get caught in a severe weather event in Coromandel (as we were), then this was the place to be. An older style motel unit to be sure (decor wise), it was comfortable, spacious with stunning views over the harbour (weather permitting). We would love to come back another time when NZ is not experiencing a 1 in 100 year downpour. Out unit had a well appointed kitchen (sans oven), so were able to cook for ourselves rather than having to go out all the time. That said, there are excellent cafes and restaurants not far down the road. We would have loved to use the deck and its comfortable chairs more had the weather permitted. The Kauri tree/Pa lookout walk starts very close to the hotel. The owners were brilliant about being flexible regarding our check out, given that local roads were closing at a moment’s notice; they also kept us informed about what was happening (they had more local sources of info than us), and they had a fantastic kiwi sense of humour (the motel unit guide is full of quips).

We stayed 3 nights at The Harbour View Motel and enjoyed the peace and quiet away from busy Coromandel Town. Ross and Jocelyn were very informative and we especially enjoyed the tip about Thursday night Roast Night at the Coromandel Hotel as is was great to get vegetables. The motel is older but very clean and it was convenient to be able to do a load of washing and borrow a drying rack. The walking trail up the hill to town was lovely.

We booked one night here but wish we'd booked more. It's less than two kilometres from the centre of town and has panoramic views across the bay to the mountains beyond. The sunset was to die for. The units are large and well-equipped and the host is very friendly. Some may baulk at the fact that the decor hasn't been updated in a while but this added to the charm for us. Each unit has a deck overlooking the bay and parking is free. We'll be back!

The property is older, but clean and spacious. The best part is the amazing view. One wall of our room was windows, which looked out on the bay. We really enjoyed sitting out on the lanai and soaking it in.
Unfortunately, it was rainy the one night we stayed there. I'd like to go back in good weather and stay longer as they have bikes and kayaks for the guests to use, plus there is a walking trail through the forest right near the motel. It is located away from the main town, so was wonderfully quiet. It was wonderful to hear the rain on the roof and the sound of birds.
Our room had twin beds in the bedroom, a queen and single in the very large main room, with table, chairs and kitchen with stovetop. Beds were slightly on the firm side but comfortable and we had a perfect night's sleep.
There's also a self-serve laundry, plus games in the office to take back to your room.

The bad smell from the room - I think it was the carpet - made me sick. Not sure what exactly it was but I later heard that they allow dogs here. If I had only known that before. The doors do not even keep the wind out, so forget about sound protection.

We only stayed one night on our way further north. It is an older style motel, with quite a steep driveway leading up to it, and limited parking and turning. But the views are great, and our unit was spacious, with a separate bedroom with 2 single beds and a queen bed in the lounge overlooking the view. There's a deck off each unit, all with great views. There is a lovely walk starting from right outside the motel, and leading up and over the hill to the township. We walked over it and had dinner in town, then walked back along the (quiet) main road. While the bed seemed very firm (not my preference), I had a good night's sleep. Overall, a pleasant stay.

The views from the rooms and the decks are amazing. The owner is really friendly and hard working. We really enjoyed staying here, but the rooms need some modernization. I hope this review is not seen as a complaint just as a constructive feedback. it would be good if the bathroom would have fan and the kitchen can do with a new bench and cabinets. Also the couch showed that it had be in use for quite some years. The bedding was good. The unit was clean as well. As I wrote before the location is great. It is a couple of minutes walk from the town, but directly waterfront. Also the hill walk to the village centre starts at the motel.

The buildings are quite old but are well maintained. But this place is all about the view. Sitting out on the verandah will a glass of wine and a beer and it doesn't get any better than this watching the boats come and go and the tide go in and out. We were planning on going out for dinner but the view was so inspiring that we opted for takeaways on the balcony instead. Had a great couple of nights here and will be back at some time in the future.

Each unit has a large deck which is conducive to enjoying a cold wine while watching the sun set. Looking across the harbour and the mussel beds is always enjoyable. Totally recommend this as a place to stay. Perhaps a little to far from the shops to walk to, but the situation makes up for this.
