This has been one of 4 visits now to Jacaranda Lodge and I haven't been disappointed yet. As I know the area fairly well anyway, this hasn't been the purpose of the trip. The main reason for visiting in the past, (and will be in the future) is one of escape. Escape from the city for some chill out and catch up time. Being a keen motorcyclist and it being such a nice ride up through views and coastline (that only Coromandel can offer) has added appeal. A tranquil haven in any season is the only way to describe it. The gardens and lawns are great to wander around with the scents of the country being strong in the air. I spent 4 nights at the bed&breakfast place Jacaranda Lodge. I had a very good time there and would recommend it to anybody who cares to ask :-) * Clean & pretty rooms * Plentiful breakfast with organic homegrown/homemade food * Host is very helpful & has a lot of good advice what to do & where to go * Quiet place, i.e. no traffic or other noise * When it is cold outside, a lovely fire is burning in the big & comfortable lounge * Kitchen for guests is available, although I didn't use it * Wireless internet connection is available for a small fee The only drawback for people like me without a car: The place is about 3km out of town. Modern, colonial style house. Immaculately clean. Only sounds are birdsong. Wonderful feature is breakfast on sunny terrace. Home prepared breads and preserves, all using produce of the garden. Orchard with figs, persimmons, grapes, every variety of citrus, apples, plums, peaches etc. Host Robin is knowledgeable about the area and ensures her guests know about local attractions, events and restaurants and cafes. Spacious guest lounge with wood burner stove. Kitchen available for guests. 2 outdoor seating areas. Rural outlook with beautiful backdrop of hills
Robin was an excellent hostess. Breakfast was wonderful outside in the sunshine, with fresh fruit from the orchard, and homemade museli, it was a long affair putting the world to rights with Robin and the other guests. We enjoyed our stay very much, the house was good, very clean and had everything we needed. The company was excellent, and we enjoyed Corramandel very much.
