My wife and I stayed for 3 night and did the coastal walk return one day which was amazing and a great track even in winter. Depending on your fitness level however we completed in 5 hrs including breaks. The retreat rooms are very well appointed and equipped and we enjoyed the gas fire on the chilly evenings. They have a few spas so nice to have a soak in the evenings. The brew their own beer which is worth a try. The managers are very accommodating and provided great service. We heard Kiwis 2 out of the 3 nights which was cool! We ended up with a flat tyre but the rural delivery guy took it and dropped it off at white cross station in Colville then we just picked up from there when fixed for $25. Great service by both guys. Looking forward to another stay at some stage.

There's nothing really negative to say about this retreat. It is isolated and peaceful, set it a huge, native rain forest. Access is by road (partly dirt) or helicopter (for the other half). There is a variety of cabins that are well provisioned and generously sized. There's a stream that runs through the grounds which leads to a swimming hole. For the less adventurous there are heated spa booths that are private and set under the forest canopy. They brew their own beer that can be purchased at the bar. There's an eatery that serves pub food. The nearest beach is a 12-minute drive, but don't expect crowds of sunbathers. When we went to Stony Bay we had the entire place to ourselves for more than an hour before one other car arrived. This is not "the place to be seen", it is the place to disappear.

My partner and I stayed here over the Labour weekend and found it to be more then we were even expecting, being in a remote location on the Coromandel Peninsula. The manager, David was so welcoming, friendly and hospitable, the chalet was beautiful and clean and bigger than our own house, the surroundings beautiful, peaceful and serene, delicious dinner in the restaurant and lovely relaxing soak in the semi-private enclosed, hot tubs while gazing up at the starts through the ferns. We had hoped to book a massage when we were there but unfortunately the therapist fell ill a bit before we arrived. Despite that, the experience was just amazing and we would definitely return and have already raved about it to all out friends. Special thanks to David for making us fell so welcome.

We enjoyed our stay Tangiaro Lodge, and felt reasonably relaxed during our stay we arrived early on new years eve and was allowed to enter our room early which was great the lodge we stayed at was a Lockwood style cabin. The bed was comfortable and the cabin was well maintained and was equipped with all the usual equipment for our stay, the water pressure was excellent… The buffet put on New Year’s Eve was amazing and we returned the next night to the restaurant because the food was so delicious. We visited the water hole along the stream which was nice , additionally we had used the guest spas and they were satisfactory. Unfortunately there were some negatives with Tangiaro Lodge, the glasses in cupboard were dirty and there was No Wifi (even after resetting it) luckily we had 4g . Our final gripe was the gravel road right outside kiwi lodge chalet 1 with the constant traffic in an out all day clearly not adhering to sign of 20kph at the entrance of the property, it was really off putting because we had the main road at the back of the cabin and gravel road at the front, we had to sit out the back to avoid the noise . We really wanted to enjoy our stay at Tangiaro Lodge but felt it somewhat fell short of our expectations. The website states
“Nestled beneath beautiful Moehau Mountain on the Coromandel Peninsula, a little river trickles its way quietly through tranquil fauna. Birdsong, tinkling water and tree breezes are the only sounds to be heard”
More like Birdsong, tinkling water , tree breezes and tyres on gravel are the only sounds to be heard.

We were very kindly upgraded to a two bedroom executive chalet, a quiet and well appointed chalet up the hill with lovely views. The chalet itself was cosy with a gas fireplace and electric blankets so we were never cold. It had a wrap around deck which soaked up the sun and a gas BBQ which was great to cook on. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, incl a dishwasher ! There's even a washing machine and dryer too. We stayed here so we could do the Coromandel Coastal Walk which was only a 25 min drive to Stony Bay. Was nice to come back and have a nice soak in one of the spas. Our chalet also had a great deep bath. The managers are absolutely lovely and can advise you of places to visit nearby. We had a Stony Bay beer from the bar and can recommend. Great place to escape too and look forward to returning.

What an absolutely breathtaking location! While we didn't have the chance to spot Kiwis, I believe there's potential for more wildlife encounters in this stunning place. The Coromandel Coastal Walkway offered us some truly amazing walks. Our accommodation was impressively spacious, clean, and featured a lovely, large comfy bed. Admittedly, the place could benefit from a bit of a refresh, but please don't let that deter you. They've faced challenges over the last three years and truly need people to experience this incredible destination.
From the property, we took a picturesque walk along the Tangairo Stream leading to a secluded swimming hole where not a single other human was in sight! Kylie, with her exceptional hospitality, added an extra layer to our experience, sharing insightful knowledge about the area.

We were in a group of 14 people biking the loop around the top of the Coromandel . The lodge were perfectly positioned on the loop and could accomodate all us in seperate chalets. We stayed in one of the deluxe cabins which was newly built. It was spacious and comfortable with a good sized kitchen, Freeview TV, Washing machine and seperate bedroom with ensuite. There was also a good sized covered deck with BBQ overlooking the deck. The only issue I found with the unit was that it was a bit dark. David and his staff were excellent and we also dined in the restaurant where the food was exceptional. The spa area is a perfect spot to relax and listen to the birds. Would highly recommend this place when visiting the top part of the Coromandel or to walk/bike the coastal track.

I stayed here with my boyfriend and we had an excellent time - the Manager made us feel immediately welcome and was extremely helpful. We were going to be arriving later than usual but reception stayed open for us and the chefs also stayed around until we had finished our meal. The food was delicious and good value, with tremendous views from the dining room. The chalet was huge, with a fully equipped kitchen which we used to cook on the second day. The bed was comfortable and shower was fab (with nice toiletries). The hot tubs on site have to be booked ahead but are free to use and as two city-dwellers we have never seen so many stars whilst in a hot tub before! Whilst the wifi isn't the speediest ever, it is still strong enough to download on Netflix (albeit slowly) and we certainly weren't coming to the Kiwi Retreat looking for fast wifi. The swimming hole on the property is awesome and an adventure to get to. Nearby beaches are beautiful and pretty empty. Would love to come back here if we make another trip to NZ!

My wife and I stayed after walking the Coromandel Coastal Walkway which was fantastic. We started with a nice soak in one of the hot tubs and dined in the restaurant. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the gas fire warmed us nicely on a cold night. The service was excellent and friendly. This is not a 5 star lodge but I thought good value for money and a lovely experience...it is a very comfortable way to visit a little slice of paradise!!

Tangiaro is an amazing place to visit and stay. A real kiwi experience set in a great part of New Zealand. Delraye is a wonderful, friendly, organised and efficient Duty Manager. A complete star. I highly recommend a stay here.
