Detailed Reviews

I just spent 3 nights here while playing in the Wijk aan Zee chess tournament and I loved it. There are three studio apartments with a main room, kitchinette and bathroom as well as a double room.
I had booked the corner studio with the garden view on the ground floor and although it was lovely, I preferred to take the slightly more expensive corner studio above it with the dune view which was more spacious and had a bigger sitting area. There was a double bed in both studios and while it was fine for one person it might be a bit cramped for two so a couple would be better off in the larger studio with a garden view on the first floor adjacent to the dune view studio.
There were three large windows so I had a perfect view over the village green but couldn't really see the sand dunes. The room was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was well-equipped with a fridge, four gas hobs, a kettle and a coffee maker but no microwave. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower and nice pink towels.
The owner Letty and her family made me feel very welcome and responded to any enquiries immediately and I felt looked after throughout my stay. The free Wifi worked fine but I had a problem with it on the last day and although they rebooted the router it still didn't work.
The weather was awful while I was there and it was very windy which meant that the room was a bit draughtly at times and the ventilation unit above the gas hobs rattled but there were two electric heaters in the studio and one in the bathroom so I didn't feel too cold. I liked the personal touch of the small candles on the windowsill and large ones on the table which gave a cosy atmosphere when lit in the evenings.
There are 24 channels on the TV but nearly all of them except for ZDF in German, National Geographic and Euronews in English, were in Dutch although there were some programmes on those channels in English.
To get to the B&B from the nearest train station in Beverwijk take the number 78 bus which costs €4.20 and takes about 10 minutes. Get off at the first stop in Wijk aan Zee called Julianaweg and walk a few feet back to the B&B which is on the corner on the same side as the bus.
There is a supermarket nearby, laundry can be done for a small fee at the B&B and it is just over a 5 minute walk to get to the centre of the village then another 10 minutes to get to the beach.

A warm welcome when you arrive, followed by a lovely interior room where you find everything you expect from a accommodation. 10 min walk from beach and next to a supermarket, you also find all kind of restaurants and bars near by.
