Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As I was passing by, I noticed no one has reviewed this incredible B&B, more of a intimate boutique hotel than B&B. We have stayed there twice and will be staying there again 2/07. I can't imagine being on South Island and not staying there. It would be like not dropping by to visit old friends. Joyanne and Richard do everything to ensure a fabulous stay, from the extravagant breakfasts that stretch into lunch to the platters of late afternoon snacks and drinks, to the complimentary stocked fridges with wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages.

The rooms are all charming and restful. The bathroom toiletries are lovely. The towels are big and fluffy. Everything is done impecably. Then there are the gardens and grounds...beautiful. The setting provides absolute quiet and rest.

Joyanne will do anything to ensure that her guests have a wonderful time. When we came back soaking wet from a rainstorm during a hike, she sent us off to warm up and get dry while she had our clothes laundered. She knows all the local points of interest and where to find all the local arts & crafts. If you want to be left to yourselves, then you shall be left alone. But if you want conversation and to get to know the locals and South Island from the inside, then Joyanne and Richard are great company and full of information.

A stay at Wairepo House is a must, consistently lovely and a great value for the money, especially compared to some of the other boutique B&B's, hotels, and lodges in New Zealand. And believe me, over the years we have stayed at many of them. This is the only place we'll stay when we are in the Nelson area.

The hosts, Joyanne and Richard, are great people. We had a busy schedule while staying here, but they made the time to have breakfast with us. The room was OK, the bathroom had its best time. We loved the gardens and the surrounding estate. The hosts did what they could to make us feel at home here.

The welcome was wonderful as was the stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Joy and Richard who booked tours and dinners for us and made sure we knew where we were going. The house is very comfortable, quiet and relaxing, just what you need after a hard day's excursion.

This location should certainly be on anyone's list.

Thanks Joy and Richard for a great stay.

This tranquil oasis was one of the highlights of our tour of the south island. The accommodation was very spacious and comfortable but the star was the garden which is simply amazing. Joyanne and Richard are fabulous hosts - lovely breakfasts and excellent advice on what to see and where to eat and charming company. One day after spending hours on a wine tasting tour we decided that we could not be bothered to go out to a restaurant ... within minutes Joyanne dropped in with a platter of food for us for which she would accept no payment. Definitely worth going out of your way to stay here.

Joyanne and Richard run a beautiful place and even though they were so busy during our stay, they always had time to spend chatting to us and making sure that we made the most of our visit.
The room we stayed in was extremely spacious, well laid out and comfortable. We certainly slept very well.
The gardens around the house are absolutely beautiful, and if we hadn't been so busy dashing about seeing all the sights, I am sure it is a lovely place to relax and while away the time whist sipping a glass of local wine.
The breakfasts are second to none, plenty to choose from and a freshly cooked option also.
I can highly recommend staying here if you want to visit Abel Tasman and the surrounds as it is very convenient but also Joyanne and Richard have so much knowledge of the area, they point you in the right direction for restaurants and places a little off the usual tourist track

We did enjoy our stay with the family for two nights at this wonderful place with our friendly hosts and by far the best breakfast during our 3 weeks trip through New Zealand. The kids loved the garden and the pool.

Wished we could've stayed longer at Joyanne and Richards and this is the only place I'd have liked to stay longer during our 18 days in New Zealand. Greeted by a treelined entrance and the hosts came out to greet us, we had an amazing "Caribbean" inspired room that was so comfortable. Jo made sure we had everything we could possibly need and came to our rescue when we arrived from a rain-soaked day of hiking and boating, umbrellas when we needed to get to our car and to great dinner establishments. Loved wandering the amazingly large and diverse grounds and acres of apple orchards. Missed the peony season but maybe another time. Food was fabulous and fresh apples everyday. Don't miss a trip up the same road to see Sue's Pottery. You will not regret this choice!

What an amazing experience to stay at Wairepo House and to meet Joyanne and Richard Easton; the owners and hosts of this magnificent homestead. A truly special getaway and we felt like we were in a world of our own. Joyanne and Richard went out of their way and over and above to make us feel welcome and to make Mum's birthday extra special. We timed out visit during the peonie harvest season and altho buzy Joyanne and Richard took time to explain the whole process to us and show us through it and gave us the most gorgeous peonies to take home. I cannot recommend Wairepo House and it's charming, gracious and generous hosts enough for someone wanting a world class high end luxurious getaway they will remember for ever and don't forget to wander through the estate's magnificent gardens which are something to behold.
