This hotel is just a short drive from Villafranca del Bierzo..literally 5 mins...and is absolutely worth booking if in the area. ( they also have bikes you can use if you can face the uphill pedals!) Having stayed at the Parador in Villafranca at the start of our trip in Spain I would recommend skipping that and staying at Villa Mencia instead. (food at the Parador was ok and the reception staff lovely but the room was tired and old, no view ..other than that if the motorway which it overlooks .generally more like that of an old B&B...!) so my advice would be skip it..stay at the Mencia instead. Half the cost..the room we had was modern, ( ask for one with balcony for the most stunning views but if can’t get there is a veranda which affords the same with comfortable seating) immaculate..shower great..beds comfortable with pristine bedding...staff kind, helpful...food absolutely delicious..in fact all in all a 5/5. There is also a cafe serving snacks, coffee and drinks all day..all for half the price of the Paradors we stayed in. Just wished we had found sooner! On top of that there are some lovely walks straight from the hotel...pick your degree of difficulty..straight up or more gently up (!) and off you go.

On our tour in Spain we stayed one night in the hotel “Villa Mencia” in the place called “Corullón”. This is a hotel on the border of the road in a small village, with a private parking, elevator etc. At the reception the welcome was very warm and friendly on our arrival. Our room on the second floor was from a good size, with a private bathroom and TV. We also used in the evening the restaurant from the hotel, and we can tell that it was more than ok, quality / price, and on top the kindness from the staff. To resume we can tell that we had a good evening meal, and have passed a good night of sleep, even if the hotel is on the street border, you do not have any street noise into the room. We can warmly recommend this hotel, and will certainly return there when we are traveling in the area. When using the coordinates, the hotel is about 150 meters on the right before you arrive on the small place (Indicated by Tom Tom).

Really cosy and quite close to Villafranco by car. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are cozy. Air con in the rooms too! The people that run are really nice and it has a nice family feel to it.

The rooms are really nice and comfortable. And quite. The dinner and the breakfast were oustanding for the price; they served us a very good wine included in the price, that is unusual. And the staff was more than gentle and friendly. Really nice people
