I stayed at Hotel Waldblick because it was near the village of Leibenau. I wanted to visit Leibenau because my mother and grandmother were prisoners of war there in 1945. Mr. Walter and his wife were very accommodating and even drove me to and from the St. Lukas Hospital where the POW camp was located. Mr. Walter even drove me to the train station in the morning, right before breakfast was served to his other guests... Such a nice man!!! The hotel could use some updating but was clean and the bed was very comfortable, which is one of the most important aspects of a hotel, in my opinion.
I stopped and had beers at the Gasthof Hirsch and met some very nice people there too. I showed them pictures of my mother and grandmother at St. Lukas during the war and they were very interested in hearing their story.
I also had pizza at Speedy Pizza next door, awesome pizza!!! I only had a $20 and the young man didn't have change so he gave me my pizza for free.... after my beers at Hirsch I went back to Speedy Pizza and paid my bill, and then some...
The people I met in these small towns reminds me that we are all so similar to each other even with our cultural differences! We can all relate to each other on basic levels, if we all try to remember that maybe we can try to get along with each other a little better...
