Good location
Friendly staff
Kettle in the room with coffee and tea
Comfortable bed
TV
Fast WiFi
Large, walk-in shower
Negative:
Smoking guests at the entrance, whose smell comes into the room when the window is open
Air conditioning was on when we arrived and set to 10 degrees. Who wants 10 degrees in their room?
Shower door leaking, water running into the rest of the bathroom
Questionable toilet "door" in the room
Smoke detector at the entrance covered with a plastic bag, is that fire safety compliant?
If you like bedside tables or at least a shelf by the bed, the B&B in Aalen is not for you, because the philosophy is "We don't have bedside tables" according to the motto "It's not a bug, it's a feature"
There was actually no wardrobe. Except for a rod with 4 hangers that was attached to the wall in the corner. We had to store our luggage on the floor in the middle of the room.
On the right side of the bed you had to be careful not to step on a socket that was lying open on the floor and was connected to power cables.
The toilet:
The missing toilet lid was the smallest drawback. The toilet door couldn't be closed and so you could hear each other defecating. Because the toilet door couldn't be closed you could also listen to the ventilation for 20 minutes at night, unless you went to the toilet without turning on the light.
The bed:
The next day when we lifted the bed sheet we saw what we had been lying on all night. There were some indefinable, yellowish stains. What was definable, however, were the menstrual marks.
When we complained to Mrs. Tatic on the day of arrival - we didn't know about the stains on the mattress - and asked for another room, we were refused, saying that the hotel was fully booked.
When we decided to cut our stay short the next morning and look for other accommodation, we found out at reception that there was still a room available.
The staff are very friendly and speak good English, and they were happy to advise on a place to eat out in Aalen.
Wi-fi is included in the price of the room, as is breakfast, of which there is a lot of choice; including hot bacon and eggs, cereals, yoghurts and pastries.
There is limited parking behind the hotel, otherwise you can park in the street out front or if you have a small car or are particularly brave then there is an underground car park available.
The rooms are clean and brightly coloured, the pillows are quite small, but this seems to be the norm in Germany. There are plenty of towels available in the room, but the only slight issue is the toilet door which doubles as a mirror and doesn't have a lock on it.
I would stay here again.
The hotel is excellent and staff are very friendly.
My only criticism is regarding no access to BBC world news or Sky News. Apparently no French channels either.
I’m disappointed with this as surely this should be provided on your tv offering.
