Stayed in one of the junior suites in July 24. The room was very spacious and seemed quite newly renovated. Had put in an extra bed for children. Good and large double bed for us adults. The room also had its own terrace with furniture. Unfortunately did not accompany with breakfast in the room, and the breakfast has become relatively expensive (22euro per pers), so we stood over.

The hotel is a large conference hotel, and was very impressed that there were not very many people there this summer. One restaurant and bar were closed, and in some areas of the hotel we had to turn on the lights to move around. Became almost a little nifty hotel when it was so empty and dark. The bar at the hotel is closing at 22:00, but one night it was already closed around 2130. The restaurant was totally ok but has a very limited menu, which made it a little boring to eat there two nights.

The hotel is located in an idyllic and quiet setting, has a lot of golfers. They borrow golf clubs (for drivers) and tennis equipment at no charge. Something that was popular for our child to try. There is also an outdoor pool on site where children can swim. Day two, this pool was closed due to water quality and we were told that we could go to the spa pool (which has an age limit) after 18:00. When we tried to visit the pool we were stopped by one of the staff with a message that the child was not allowed there. Difficult to communicate with employees as they only speak French. We can finally get in anyway.

The staff were nice and helpful, despite some language challenges.
The hotel is an ok starting point for visiting the Bordeaux region, but is a little lonely midnight in the summer season with a little little people for such a large facility.

On paper it looks and sounds amazing, with old chateau style main building, spa and pool.
In reality it is a confusing mish mash of grand old building, which is no longer in use and being left to decay, and new golf resort wing which has been badly designed and built maybe in the early 2000’s. Which doesn’t add anything to grandeur of the old part.
All the facilities are located in the new wing, including restaurant and bar. With the exception of the outdoor pool, which is a long walk and had no facilities near by.
The restaurant was very disappointing with very limited menu on both nights that we stayed. It seems they may be running things down to close soon??
Mojitos in Bacardi glasses but not using Bacardi rum. The last straw in the building so had to cut it in half so we could each have one!
No vegetarian options on the menu at all and when asked, the chef did prepare one ,but it only consisted of a mixture of the side vegetables used in other dishes and charged at full price!
Our room was ok, with a terrace overlooking the golf course and working AC.
Very quiet which considering the size of the hotel and time of year is surprising. But this goes for the whole of Margaux. As a world famous wine region producing very expensive wines you would have thought the place would be heaving and busy with Porsche and Mercedes drivers everywhere as is the case in Cognac. But not so.
Maybe there’s no where decent to eat or to stay?
This hotel isn’t particularly cheap and not particularly good. But could be amazing.

This has been the worst hotel, we have visited and we have visited lots of hotels all over the world.

The pictures on the internet look nice and I have to say that we were welcomed very friendly. After that, everything went down hill fast.

The property is very outdated and needs immediate renovation. Stains in carpet, paint is off the woodwork, and the hotel smells like the windows have been closed since 1992. The bathroom was up to date, if you were in the hotel in 1994. However, on a positive note: the bed was good.

The price of the room including breakfast is way too much for the quality you get. You get the feeling that the owners are squeezing out every euro without investing anything in the property. This feeling is stressed by the fact that housekeeping “forgot” to clean our room.

The chairs in the restaurant were broken (see pictures). Housekeeper from Tunesia was very friendly and helpful.

The main restaurant is closed and we needed to eat in the bar of the golfclub. Breakfast was okay but nobody of the staff was there to greet you and to refill the buffet. The price of € 19 per person was too high.

Flexibility in service (we wanted to have a burger for dinner as we had a good lunch somewhere else earlier) was not there. We could only order a burger as part of a 3 course dinner and not only a burger. Really?

Avoid the “hotel” (I am not sure if this qualifies as hotel, because I could not find hospitality anywhere) at all costs.

We had a box package with one night, one dinner, one treatment and access to the spa. The establishment reserves lunch for us on the grounds that it is cheaper… we maintain dinner at an additional cost, but here we are surprised. Dinner is €35, dessert course, while lunch is €25. 10€ difference between two people means 20€ more to pay, it's not complicated, but we are charged double, i.e. 40€! The explanations given by the receptionist do not hold water, incomprehensible, vague... we have no tangible explanation, the opacity is total and honesty does not seem to be on the menu. As for a commercial gesture, we are light years away. Old hotel that deserves a serious refresh, average breakfast.

It takes a long time to find positive at this accommodation.
A great discordance between the photos of the website and reality.
We are told about renovation of the rooms, it is a nice joke, we must not have the same definition of renovation. After discussion we learned, that it concerned the installation of a new carpet, I did not take a photo so ridiculous and in bad taste!!! on the other hand the joints of the tiles of the bathroom and the blows behind the bedside table, were not to be part of the renovation of the room (this one having been done a priori in 2024).
The bedding is comfortable and clean but the decoration is not of a 4 star level, two tiny frames with birds above the bed....
At the site level it is misleading and can induce errors for example, it offers you during the Reservation of a gift voucher to make additions, except that the takes are not correct, a green fee on this app is 40 € instead of 30 € for a Pension resident and for a person with the club golf card of 22.5 €...

We were stranded at Bordeaux overnight after Easyjet cancelled our flight at 12am and told us to rebook our own flight and accomodation. We couldn't find anywhere at the that time as everything was fully booked. We phoned this hotel and got a taxi 30 mins out of Bordeaux. Reception were so friendly and accomodating at such a late hour . Only 2 rooms left , we were upgraded to the premium room which was huge and extremely comfortable with a balcony overlooking the golf course. We were able to use the swimming pool and spa and had a superb meal in the Brasserie. Staff couldn't have been nicer, and Easyjet will be compensating in full for the delay !!

It's been 3 times that I have come to the spa to enjoy a moment of relaxation and have a bath, scrub and massage treatment for 1 hour. This time it wasn't good at all. The scrub was botched and the massage was abrupt, messy and it was cold in the treatment room. In short, few staff, so I advise you to go elsewhere because for 150€ I think you can find much better.
On the other hand, the spa is pretty and we ate very well.

If you're going to the wine regions of Margaux, Pauillac, St. Julien, St. Estephe, and beyond, the perfect hotel is the Relais de Margaux. This is our third stay and it continues to exceed our expectations.

The rooms are spacious, with beautiful views. It has a tranquil atmosphere. After a day filled with wine tastings and tours, we loved unwinding at the hotel’s spa. The indoor pool, excellent services, and relaxation room provided the perfect backdrop for our spa days, making it a true haven of relaxation.

Located next to Château Margaux and surrounded by breathtaking vineyards, the hotel is a gem in the Médoc region. The picturesque walking paths along the Gironde River and nearby golf courses only add to the charm. Plus, you’re just minutes away from restaurants .

The recent updates to the hotel have only improved our experience, making it feel fresh and inviting. The rates are very comfortable, allowing us to extend our stays and create even more wonderful memories here.

We can’t wait to return for many more years to come!

When we heard about Hôtel Margaux, we imagined a chic and charming hotel. We went there for New Year's Eve 2023/2024. The menu was fantastic and the staff friendly and cheerful. The downside is the decoration of the room and the hotel in general. It's old and needs a big refresh.
We will come back to test the SPA and the GOLF next time
