Stayed on our first night of the Alps2Ocean and loved it. Well worth including on your itinerary for so many reasons; stunning location (even if it is cloudy and rains, you still get a sense of the amazing landscape around you), serenely peaceful (can't explain why, just is!), incredible home food (steaks, fresh new potatoes and then rhubarb crumble with ice cream!!) and great hosts. Julia looked after us really well and breakfast and pack lunches were better than the ones we had from the larger hotels in the area. Its also worth looking at the book they have there on high country stations, as it gives you a sense of history of the various stations and what people have put into it to achieve what you see today!

As the first night on our 5 day trip, Julia and Hamish set a very high standard for the rest of the week. Our stay at Station Cottage was a highlight. From the clean, well laid out cottage, to the dinner which we could cook when ready, the views of Aoraki Mt Cook and the relaxing vibe that was Braemar Station, we loved it!
Definitely recommend.

We were fortunate enough to spend 2 wonderful nights in the 'Middle Cottage' in June. The cottage was just beautiful. Everything we could want/need was there & more. The fire was lit when we arrived & the extra touches throughout were very much appreciated. The cottage itself is beautifuly furnished & very clean.
The views from the Middle Cottage were breathtaking. We were lucky enough to experience all different weather while there, sunshine, fog, rain, wind - but that made our stay even more beautiful.
This was one of the top highlights of our first NZ trip!
Thank you Julia for making our stay so wonderful & sharing your beautiful property with us. We hope to be back in the future!

Our group of 8 stayed one night at the station's Shearers Lodge - gosh we wished we were there for longer! An amazing property with the most incredible view (despite the few clouds). The accomodation itself was dreamy and catered perfectly to our group. Julia's communication and understanding during covid was delightful. We hope to be back soon!

What a treasure! Day one of A2O and rode up to Pine Cottage after a bumpy ride. The stunning view and cosy cottage was so welcoming. We loved the food, beds and wonderful service from Coco. Dinner and breakfast was exceptional and the packed lunch was just spot on. We are all thinking of another reason to revisit as we enjoyed the whole experience so much. Thank you.

We stayed in Braemar on the first night of our A2O ride. Fabulous location , couldn't take enough photos of the mountains and lake. Julia supplies a lovely meal with the best steaks plus salads and excellent apple crumble . All you need the following day for breakfast plus a nice packed lunch to take on our journey.

On our trip around New Zealand, we had booked nearly a dozen places to stay and if we could return to just one, it would have to be here. We were completely blown away by the whole experience. Braemar Station is an enormous sheep, cattle and deer farm which is bordered on one side by the impossibly blue and massive Lake Pukaki. At one end of the lake sits the majestic Mount Cook and its range of mountains which are visible from most points of the farm.
That view! We could hardly take our eyes away from that view.
We stayed three nights in Pine Cottage which is spacious and comfortable, with everything we could possibly need whilst being rustic and cosy. We then had two nights in Station Cottage which is modern and sleek with a huge porch and just as comfortable.
Braemar is located twenty minutes down a gravel road which promotes the feeling of being away from it all but it's a working farm so we never felt too isolated.
Welcome to wander across the huge landscape of the farm, we were able to walk for miles. We swam in the glacial blue lake to cool down in the afternoons. We sat on the porch as the sunset turned the mountains pink and then we watched the amazing array of stars fill the night sky.
Julia, our host and co owner of the sheep station, was extremely hospitable and friendly and we really enjoyed talking with her and learning about the history and the day to day running of the farm. Julia works hard to ensure that her guests enjoy their stay here and along with her helper, Teagan, she does an excellent job.
There are two other rental properties on the farm, Shearers Lodge and Hilltop Cottage but all the accommodation is very private and well spread out.
Our stay here was magical and will stay long in our memories.
