This motel is right in the Tekapo township so was easy to get around to shopping, eateries and the night sky tours. We had the accessible 2 bedroom unit. Bathroom was excellent. Living room is a little tight for a wheelchair. Would be helpful to have a concertina door between living room and main bedroom that folds away totally to allow better movement around the bed.. Would struggle with layout if totally confined to bedroom. Was much better than lots we've stayed at.

We stayed in an upstairs unit which Had a great view of the lake and also over looked the planetarium.easy parking. It is a 2 min walk to restaurants and supermarket. You can do a 25 min walk to the Hot pools along the walk way or a 5 min drive.Wi Fi was perfect andSky had all channels.Check in time 2 pm easy check in,paid for on the morning before our arrival by advance credit card number no surcharge. As to dish washing which you need to do we didn’t mind the system as the place was spotless and the cleaning crew do a perfect job from what we could see when we arrived.Bed comfy with electric blankets. We think The village inn is great value for the service provided. If you do book in advance do take note of the instructions on how to get to reception as some reviewers on here couldn’t find the entry it’s simple if you follow the instructions given.Highly recommend staying here

Good location, but needs a revamp Spa bath not working, rooms were clean. The view from the ground floor is of the car park to view the lake you have to sit on the main walking deck which is where people have to walk past to get to rooms. Ask the lady owner if I could pay on arrival which she said would be fine, she still wanted my credit card details which I gave to her in good faith, arrived in the afternoon to find out she had already deducted our accommodation fee. Very disappointed. The TV was only in the main bedroom, no other seating apart from the table and chairs and two outside collapsible chairs, no couch to sit on. A night in after a long drive is watching TV in the bedroom, definitely not very good. The weekend manager was great, very helpful and friendly.

Only stayed the one night en route to Christchurch. Standard Motel offering, everything you would expect, clean but lacking that extra touch. Nice view of the Lake from the balcony. Little else to add other than you are expected to wash your dishes (2 x mugs...) which is a bit hard with no sink. Plus I would have thought it would be a requirement to put them thru a dishwasher? For some reason accommodation in the district was pricey which reflected in what we paid. Had better for less on our trip around the South Island. Pleasant lady on reception, appreciated the restaurant recommendation.

Great location. Easy parking. Really comfy rooms. Great spa bath of a decent size. Easy walk to all the restaurants and very short stroll across the park area to the lake. It was a bit rainy during our visit but the view from our room was still beautiful.
