Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The location is perfect as it is close to the main centre and you can walk to most things. The view over the lake is good also (possibly better from upstairs). The room was quite small but clean and tidy. There was an enormous bathroom, including a spa bath, but the shower was tiny. It was great for one night but might have been a bit small for any longer.

We chose the upstairs family room with a view, we were not disappointed, a view straight down the lake, wow. The beds were comfortable, we had enough room for all of us, kitchen was adequate and the large bathroom was good. The lady in reception was very helpful with recommendations for dinner, breakfast, activities not just in Tekapo but around the MacKenzie Country. We have recommended this place to family and friends already, you will not be disappointed.

Stayed for two nights with family. Central location and near to lake. The lady at the check-in was very friendly and helpful. Room/apartment was clean and good size and there was a good view from the balcony. We would stay again if in the area.

Great stay there, very helpful and friendly host. Showed us right up and into our room, had already put the heating on for us and recommended a few places for dinner and then made the booking for us while we were still on the drive from Christchurch. Comfy beds and pillows. Great location and would stay again for sure.

Central location right in the centre of Tekapo Village. The Management were friendly & helpful. We stayed 2 nights in a Downstairs Family suite. The unit was clean with a comfortable double bed. However it is badly in need of a major revamp. Lighting in the main bedroom totally substandard - no bedside lights & the ceiling light was dim - with the switch nowhere near the bed. The wall heater in the living area was old & inadequate - would not like to rely on it in the cold of winter! The bathroom had a plastic shower curtain & an area of the wood skirting board was in a state of decay. At $235 a night it was overpriced - in comparison to the other 5 motels we stayed in during our South Island holiday. As we noticed these inadequacies on checking in, we should have taken our concerns to the Management & requested a reduction in the room rate - our mistake!

Our first impression, once recovered of the first sight of the Lake, was that Lake Tekapo is a very small siter and therefore this motel is one of the good options to stay. Quick check-in, stunning views from our terrace, good parking and comfortable beds. The room is not spacious for 4 adults but for one night is OK

Lake Tekapo Village Motel is right in the middle of the town with gorgeous views to the Lake and lots in easy walking distance. Lyn the manager is very friendly and helpful and went out of her way to help with dinner suggestions etc. We stayed in an upstairs room looking straight out to the lake but downstairs rooms seemed to have view too. Reasonable rates and very comfortable.

Loved this place! From the phone call to make the booking back in October, I just knew that our stay here was going to be awesome- and I wasn’t wrong. Our hosts were super friendly, helpful and took excellent care of us. They provided dinner and breakfast recommendations and vouchers for free wine. The room was spacious, well laid out and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was great. We had a private balcony with a lovely view across the car park to the lake. Couldn’t fault the place and I will definitely be back! Thanks for the hospitality!
