Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a great place to stay. I had the room with a private bathroom and it was all comfy enough for the couple of nights I stayed. The car park is small and quite awkward, so I parked on the residential street which was no problem at all and lots of safe parking available. The facilities are well maintained and all the other guests were very respectful and it was pretty much quiet by 10pm. I didn't see any staff - the keys were left in an envelope in a check-in area, with a clear map of where your room is located - it worked very well and no issues. It's only a short walk to the lakeside so this accommodation is great value for money. When I arrived the room was very hot from the heat of the sun so the following day I kept the curtains closed as there's no air con. This definitely helped to keep it cool.

Fantastic place to stay in Tekapo for a very comfortable night off the trail. Excellent beds, very clean, well set up kitchen and laundry facilities. Staff friendly and helpful, grounds beautiful. Have stayed here twice now and will return. Kath and Lou

For this style of hostel, it was pretty OK. The ensuite room was a little bit bigger than the double bed. The bed itself was comfortable. The room was clean and tidy. The communal area was spacious, with lots of room for cooking. There were two big fridges for lodgers to store their perishable goods. They have a system where you put your name, room number and date of departure on your food. We put a pack of smoked salmon and it was still there the next day:-) It's located within 10 minutes walk from Lake Tekapo and the main restaurants near the lake. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 is because they didn't refill the shower gel and shampoo dispenser in the bathroom.

We had a nice stay. It was clean and functional. One reason this place stood out when booking, was the animals around the place. There were only two chickens, which was sad. We don't know what the story is here. The runs are there, just no animals.

We loved our 3 night stay at Tailor Made. The animals everywhere around the grounds just made it that much more enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed my daily big bunny fix. We had a double room with shared facilities (that we didn’t share as it was so quiet!). The room was basic but cosy. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and of a much better quality than I’d expect to find in a backpackers accommodation. Lovely hot showers and a heater in the shower room too. The kitchen was large, tidy and well equipped with plenty of seating areas. We couldn’t fault the cleanliness anywhere - it was done to a high standard. Another thing we really loved was that the signage around the hostel was subtle. There aren’t posters everywhere telling you to clean up and don’t do this or that, just a few small reminders. On that note, it is not the place to come if you want a party - the building isn’t very noise proof so it much better suits the quieter traveller and therefore, was perfect for us. Excellent location to town and all the beautiful walks around. Great work Jovana and Richard.

Thank you so much Jovana and Richard! Wish I could stay longer in your beautiful one of a kind accommodation and have thoroughly enjoyed the one night I did stay with my mate while road tripping on our bikes. All the best for the future business here and I highly recommend the accommodation to anyone looking to stay in the Makenzie County! And definitely check out the bar and restaurant 'Our Dog Tuesday' for some of the best burgers and beers in town!

My room had a queen and king-single/double bed with ample room so as you aren't tripping over each other - I was a single traveller and they had upgraded me to this quiet room which was very quiet, clean, comfy bed, spacious bathroom. The standard basics supplied: cutlery, plates, glasses, mugs, microwave, fridge, linen - more that adequate. Short stroll into the main Centre, supermarket, Lake and Church. Lovely garden to amble and see the various animals kept on the property. Be aware though, if travelling with children there was no TV. Super friendly checkin lady; highly recommend and will stay again.

Friendly, clean, tidy. Petable friendly Guinea Pigs, Giant Rabbits, lambs, chickens. Beautiful setting. Minutes away from shops and restaurants. All the facilities you need at very reasonable prices. 20 minutes walk from Hot Pools. We will be booking again for sure.

We stayed here at the end of our trip and in the middle of a very cold period. The room was fine, not fancy but you get what you are paying for. It was a little cold but a heater was provided and the weather was very cold at the time. Double glazing helped keep the room warm and quiet. Amazingly hot showers, kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. There was a cosy lounge with games and fireplace. My kids loved the animals and the tennis/sports equipment with the court right next door. Good location and a nice outdoors although we didn't make the most of it.

Overall an okay place to stay. Kitchen facilities were great. One shower for possibly 10 people. Accommodated our late arrival. Never saw anyone from staff but didn't need to. Price was average. Probably would stay again.
