Beautiful view from our lakefront room, we didn't mind the people walking past as enjoy people watching. Friendly receptionist on checkin & checkout. Right beside restaurants which was perfect. Curtains were great, blackouts made for a nice sleep in. Comfortable pillows & bed. Parking at our door was appreciated. Room really needs updating, peeling paint in the bathroom, mouldy tile grout, very tight on bathroom supplies, no electrical blankets, heater really wasn't very efficient. Had to boil the jug numerous times to have a hot enough bath. Excellent location, uninspiring room.
The only good things were the receptionist, she was very helpful and friendly, she organised an extra heater for us, and the location. The rooms were dark and gloomy, they need a revamp. The bathroom was basic but clean.
Clean and tidy hotel. The staff were lovely and polite, we had a quick and stress free check in. My own fault for not checking but didn't realize there was no aircon in the room. It was extremely hot there was a fan provided but it wasn't that helpful. Beds were comfy enough and the shower was really nice. Parking is free and right in front of the hotel.
A nice place to stay. Had a lake view room with bath, which was great. Had stayed around ten year ago and it has recently been refurbished. Bed super comfy and warm. It has heating but no aircon, so would be very warm during January February unless there was a good breeze blowing. Isabella on reception went above and beyond in sorting out wifi issue that some of us guests were experiencing which turned out to be an update issue from their providers. Thanks for your calm manner and great attitude in ensuring we we were sorted out. Jacks cafe on premises is superb too. See separate review.
We booked the superior room. We booked for 2 nights. It was disappointing that they don't bother to service the rooms for you (take dirty towels away). This is a service that you will receive at many motels. The view is nice. But it's expensive for what you get.
Marg and I stayed here for a night. We were greeted by a friendly young man at reception who said we could have an upgrade if we liked. We accepted the upgrade which was a room with a lake view. The room was comfortable and warm. The bed was firm and cosy and bathroom facilities, shower etc, good. We enjoyed our stay at the Godley. Thank you, we'll be back.
We stayed for one night on our way from Christchurch to Queenstown. Well positioned on Lake Tekapo with beautiful views from our room. Multiple restaurants and eateries are just a short walk away. Warm, clean and comfortable room. Parking was limited.
This is a great accommodation. Nice place. Very comfortable and very friendly team. The room was great and has tremendous views. It was quiet and very warm even though we were near the end of winter. Very lovely place and I look forward to staying here again.
Very warm and lovely stay. We visited during school holidays and hotel was packed with guest. Very friendly staff and lovely lake views from our room. WiFi and other amenities are also good. Hotel is located on the main street and easy access to all the eating joints and tourist attractions.
Fantastic lakeside location. Although the buildings in front obstruct the whole beautiful panoramic view to a point, we could still see the top of the lake and gorgeous backdrop of mountains which was spectacular. The room was very warm and tidy but very compact. Good for a short stay but could be a bit annoying over a long period of time. Sadly there are no lifts so you have to lug your bags up the stairs yourself - not ideal. Some of the staff were more friendly and helpful than others. When enquiring if the towels were replaced daily, we were told we need to let them know on the day if we wanted them replaced?!?! On asking another (more friendly) receptionist the same question, she said to just simply leave towels on the bathroom floor and they would be changed. So slightly mixed messages. The towel-changing issue was pretty important as we were experiencing cold winter temperatures and there was sadly no heated towel rail in the bathroom, so dry towels were definitely a necessity. Loads of parking in the front of the building which was good.…
