Went here and was unpleasantly surprised by the receptionists reaction. Brazilian or some such.. Her attitude was very take it or leave it. Gave us keys to the rooms and left us to it. Decided we didn't like either room and left.

Enjoyed our stay here. Receptionist was lovely. Got a wee room upgrade. Was so close to the lake and the Church. Had a delicious and generous breakfast in their cafe in the morning, also excellent service. Was pleased we could do a load of washing there also. Clean room, big lovely shower.

This the kind of place that when you get into the room, you say ‘well this will do for the night.” Frankly the place is unimpressive; no one at reception, narrow corridors and a smallish room but a large shower. No dining room; the café closes at 3.30, although the few other places open for dinner are all within easy walking distance. This is a new hotel and full of hard concrete edges. It was ok. Rooms were clean and fresh and beds were comfortable. I didn’t think the place was good value for money, but for one night, well it’s ok.

Dear John We appreciate you sharing a review on our property and we are sorry we didn't meet your expectations. You are correct, we are currently not opening for dinner due to the lack of customers in town (not enough for everyone to be open). We prefer for other local businesses to keep running their restaurants for dinner instead- helping each other as a community. I hope you saw the email we sent with all this information when you booked with us. Thank you for choosing us and we hope you enjoyed our beautiful town. Kind regards

The Godley Hotel is well positioned for walking everywhere you need to go in Tekapo. We had a lakefront room which was tired, but very clean. They do offer renovated rooms, but, at the time of writing this review, these are not lakefront. I chose view over new! The beds were not super comfortable, but not terrible either. Being an older building the noise insulation was not good. The service was friendly. I felt the cost was fair to the stay.

Our rooms were in upstairs room in accommodation block closest to lake with great view for first night then on return in main (original) hotel building which has reception and restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and neat. The accommodation block room is ready for refurbishment- which had been done in the main building room we stayed in (also with terrific views of the lake and church). Quiet, easily accessible, and good value for room rate
