Detailed Reviews
From the welcome to the departure, Stephanie looked after us very well in her and Alastair's beautiful home. The rooms were very clean and eclectically decorated with very interesting art and artefacts which we will remember for some time. It was a great location from which to visit Mt Cook and the surrounding area but we did not warm to like Tekapo as a town and the "best restaurant" was not great for non-meat eaters. Stephanie was a mine of information on he Country and the local area and the breakfast was excellent. In sum, loved the guest house; luke warm about the local area.

Many thanks Fred and Gail. Great you enjoyed your stay with us and that Mt Cook made an impression! Very much enjoyed our breakfast discussions. Staying in a personalised accommodation facility does allow for interaction with the "natives" and I love it when the conversation segues into obtuse areas....! Best, Stephanie

We loved our 2 night stay at the Lodge as we came to the end of our 1 month tour of New Zealand.
Thank you to Alistair for his delicious omelettes from his special frying pans, best breakfast on our tour.
Thank you to Stephanie for some great hosting which included restaurant bookings and tour organising.
This lovely lodge is so welcoming from the message on the front porch to the guests room with complimentary coffee and tea , beer and wine.
The Lodge rooms are extremely comfortable, well decorated and has a nice veranda with views over the lake.
It’s also well situated for the town with a 5 minute walk to the shops and restaurants.
While visiting Lake Tekapo this is a must stay Lodge.

It was lovely having you and Elaine stay with us Mark. We do try to use our local knowledge to help our guests with their plans - hope you enjoyed your Air safari grand Traverse en route to Christchurch? And the Busker Festival? Safe travels home and you never know, you just might end up in this part of the world again! Best, Stephanie

We had a fabulous two night stay here. Our hosts Stephanie and Alistair were incredible-exceptionally kind, helpful, knowledgeable about the whole area and clearly passionate about what they do. Stephanie had already reserved us a table at a local restaurant for our first night without us even asking her to do so which made our lives very easy having driven a long way to get there.
Our en suite accommodation was excellent-the best ensuite facilities we have had in any B and B with a fabulous shower and the bed was incredibly comfortable , giving us an excellent nights sleep. Each bedroom suite has its own outside terrace area with chairs to sit in and soak up the view over the lake. There is a wonderful lounge for guests to use with facilities to make hot and cold drinks and alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks available. We had a delicious breakfast each morning with views over lake Tekapo from the dining room that took your breath away. Two nights here was not long enough. It is such a warm , luxurious and welcoming home. This is an astonishingly good place to stay and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone visiting the area. Thank you so very much Stephanie and Alistair for making our stay so special .

Stayed here for two nights in February as part of a tour of New Zealand South Island. This is a beautiful little oasis. Very stylish , but still comfortable and very relaxing. Stephanie is very helpful with local knowledge and also of places further a field.
Nothing is too much trouble, this ticks all the boxes for location, accommodation and great hosts. Highly recommend.

Hi Gillian and Martyn - so happy you enjoyed Tekapo. Mind you the gorgeous weather did help... It was great you managed to stop for lunch at our fav spot in Waipara which I hope sets the bar for my other recommendations as you travel around... We like to make sure you experience the very best of NZ. You still have to come back though. We can't make it all too easy for you to see and do everything in one trip! Best, Stephanie

Myself and my husband have just reluctantly left Lake Tekapo Lodge after a wonderful two night stay. Our hosts, Stephanie and Alistair were absolutely lovely, welcoming us into their home and making us feel very comfortable from the minute we walked in the door. Lake Tekapo Lodge is beautiful. The room we had was beautifully and comfortably decorated and we had doors leading to a patio area with the most stunning views. We enjoyed sitting there on an evening enjoying the peace and scenery. There is a gorgeous communal lounge with refreshments available which is a really lovely touch. The breakfasts were delicious and we really enjoyed the chats we had with our hosts and other guests at breakfast. This is a beautiful place to stay with extremely friendly, accommodating hosts and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and would hope to get back someday. We loved it here. Thank you Stephanie and Alistair.

We arrived after a long journey from the south to a homely welcome from Stephanie and Alistair. The view from our room was over to the lake and The Good Shepherd Church and the majestic mountains.
We really appreciated that Stephanie had booked a table for us on our first night so we didn't have to find something for ourselves.
The room was exceptionally comfortable as was the rest of the guest accommodation. We particularly enjoyed the freedom to help ourselves to refreshments at any time.
Alistair cooked awesome breakfasts which kept us going for hours.
Thank you both for your wonderful hospitality.

This was simply the best accommodation on our 13 hotel road trip, Stephanie and Alistair were the perfect hosts in every way from the initial welcome to the breakfast and their in depth local knowledge, The views from the individual rooms and breakfast room are just stunning. Stephanie’s unique taste in art is apartment throughout the property which I enjoyed immensely, and she promised to leave me a particular sculpture that I admired (haha). We would definitely recommend that you stay here.

+1
On arrival the host welcomed us so nice. She showed us the very nice and spacious room with a breathtaking view to the lake.
In the morning she made breakfast for the 6 guests. The lodge has only 3 rooms and the 6 guests sit together at a large table overlooking Lake Tekapo. The breakfast was very good with everything you could imagine, eggs, fresh fruit, müsli, joghurt toast.
The host Stephanie provided us with a lot of helpful hints what to do and where to go for lunch or dinner. We definitely will come back.

Absolutely loved our stay with Stephanie at the Lake Tekapo lodge! We were greeted so warmly and shown round the modern, luxurious lodge by the welcoming and helpful Stephanie. The room was gorgeous with a delightful room of the lake, and was nice and warm as it was a cold day. The bathroom was spotless and had kitted out perfectly. The bed and robes were so comfortable. The rooms are all in one wing of the lodge, including a guest lounge with drinks and comfortable sofas for a cosy night in. The breakfast was delicious, with cold yoghurt/fruit/granola as well as cooked breakfast with perfectly poached eggs. Stephanie also gave us really helpful tips of what to get up to while we were there. If you're going to Tekapo stay here if you want a friendly, modern and luxurious trip.

After returning from our 5 week trip through New Zealand we can say that staying at Lake Tekapo lodge was definitely one of the great highlights of our trip. Stephanie and Alistair are wonderful, warm and welcoming hosts who gave generously of their time to answer our myriad of questions about New Zealand. They prepared wonderful breakfasts in the beautiful dining room overlooking stunning Lake Tekapo. Our room also had a beautiful view of the lake and the common room that all guest share is well stocked with beverages of all sorts as well as interesting reading materials about the country. Stephanie is very knowledgeable and also recommended places to hike and things to do for the rest of our trip. This is a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of this area of New Zealand.
