Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is absolutely a pleasant stay with beautiful views. The place is very spacious and neat. Everything inside is user-friendly and make the guests feel at home. At night, we saw the beautiful stars right outside the door! This accommodation is certainly highly recommended for anyone visiting lake tekapo!

When we arrived we were welcomed by Sam with a loaf of freshly baked bread, how lovely.
We (family of 3) stayed in Lodge 4 with lovely views of the mountains and Lake Tekapo.
The Lodge was beautiful, clean, homely and very cosy with everything you need for a perfect stay. Two double bedrooms with amazing comfortable beds (we all slept so well) and with plenty of storage space. Loved the bathroom, nice and modern with a great bath tub (heaven)! and walk in shower.
The location of the Lodges is stunning and so peaceful, it felt like our own little ‘home’ and we didn’t want to leave.
We will be back!

My wife Cate and I came for One night and ended up staying for Six, from the moment we rang and spoke with Missy for our booking (ringing direct so saving them fees on the overseas booking websites) everything went very smoothly during our stay.
We stayed in one of the new lodges, Great view of Lake Tekapo and Mt John Observatory and we couldn’t hear the traffic from the main road.
When the fire was lit the whole lodge was warm and snuggly especially when it snowed on the third night of our stay.
The layout of the lodge has been well planned, two large bedrooms (very comfortable beds) great kitchen area which I found very easy to cook in and still be engaged with Cate during our stay and lastly a large bath and separate shower area with underfloor heating in the bathroom.
Lisa, Andy, Missy and Chris helped enhance our stay with some great local recommendations (Tekapo Springs, The Cairns Golf Course, Blue Lake Tekapo best to pre book as it was extremely busy, Kohan restaurant and The Greedy Cow great coffee and options for brunch along with numerous different walks in the Mackenzie district).
One of the most relaxing holidays for us both, for me 5Stars and we will be back soon for another break.

Staying at The Cairns was a dream, and not just because the beds are luxuriously comfortable. My parents and I shared a 2-bedroom cabin overlooking the lake for a couple nights in April. Everything from our arrival to our departure was personable and facilitated a memorable experience. The entire Cairns Team was so welcoming and generous with recommendations. Andy even went so far as to call a trail-running friend about an estimated route time for me (a trail runner) to complete the Mueller Route Track when my parents completed Hooker Track. The cabin itself was like something out of Architectural Digest, absolutely stunning and relaxing. We enjoyed being able to walk to the lake and central areas of town, as well as the easy access to Aoraki/Mount Cook. My parents had fun with the golf course and the views it provided. We all had our breath taken away by the clarity and wonder of the night stars. We were already planning our return before we even checked out! Needless to say, we highly recommend the place and can't wait to go back.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Lexi’s Lodge in Tekapo. What wonderful accommodation. Thus facility has two good sized bedrooms and a loft that comfortably sleeps two and possibly three.

The place us very well supplied with everything you could ever need. It’s spotlessly clean, quiet and so comfortable. It’s just a five minute walk to the village where they serve excellent coffee.

Upon our arrival at Lexi’s the host gave us a loaf of freshly made bread which was delicious. I don’t recommend this place highly enough.

We absolutely loved our 4-night stay at The Cairns! We had everything we needed and were blown away by the beauty of the surroundings. The Cairns offered spacious and cosy interiors, incredibly comfortable beds, a full kitchen, and super easy access to shops, restaurants, playgrounds and the lakeshore. It was the perfect base for exploring Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki and Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park was only an hour away (by car). Our toddler also enjoyed meeting the resident sheep, ducks and alpacas. A truly memorable experience!

An absolutely outstanding place to stay and the best property I have stayed at. The property was immaculately clean, modern, quiet, in a prime location and I can’t fault it at all.
The outdoor bath was heavenly and the lady that checked us in was absolutely lovely. The fresh loaf or bread, chocolates and personalised welcome card were such an awesome thing to arrive to.

We attended a family reunion at the Cairns. The cabins were very comfortable and thoughtfully provisioned. Only a short walk into the village. The kids loved the petting farm. The staff were helpful and gave great advice on local tour providers. We would definitely rebook.

Our group of ten had a most enjoyable stay at The Cairns - in The Homestead and an Alpine Lodge. We arrived in glorious summer weather and enjoyed lounging in the sun on the outdoor decks, admiring the expansive grounds and the beautiful wandering chickens; and ended our stay in winter conditions, nestled inside with a roaring fire! The Homestead is spacious and very well equipped, with modern bathrooms, kitchen and laundry. Mind the single step in the long and darkish corridor! The staff were welcoming and helpful, quickly responding to requests. We can thoroughly recommend this venue.
