We had the best stay. We were upgraded to a house from our originally booked apartment due to the room not being cleaned properly and a description difference from original booking (no lake view). The house was really comfortable and the location amazing. Looked out straight onto the lake. We were also given a meal voucher as an apology. Cannot fault anything about this trip to Tekapo. Even the weather was amazing. Thank you Lake Tekapo Holiday Homes for making our trip so memorable.

The views of the lake are wonderful at this campsite. Kitchen is small but sufficient and the shower/toilet block is new and clean. Showers have a timer of 6 minutes so don’t fuss about, be efficient and you’ll have plenty of time. The track to the observatory starts from here as well. It’s about 10 minute walk to the village.

Gorgeous location, lakeside, with super views. However. Felt like site was still under construction, no grass, dirt roads, diggers, piles of earth etc. Motorhome pitches a bit crammed in together, but in my humble opinion far too many to be comfortable. Facilities good, modern, clean….but far too few for number of pitches. Waste baskets were overflowing, plus no loo roll in some cubicles. Showers are frustrating.. six minutes, then a 3 minute wait for more hot water. Plus queues at all of them. All well and good, but can’t do one in/one out very easily when there is no hot water! Nice kitchen, helpful Yorkshire chap on reception, good recycling. But at $58 for two for one night a bit pricey to be putting up with a slightly 2nd rate stop.

We had an awesome stay in this lovely Lockwood home. Nice views and close to town. The house was cozy and warm. I would definitely stay here again and have already book my next trip with Tekapo Holiday Homes.

I booked Smithy's place through Lake Tekapo Holiday homes. So happy, I did. The house was spacious, had a fully equipped kitchen and laundry, and felt like a home away from home. It was immaculately clean and, very importantly, so warm and cosy. It was an easy 10-minute walk to the village and had a lovely view from the master bedroom of the lake. The folks at Lake Tekapo Holiday homes were welcoming, and checking in and out was effortless. I would absolutely use Smithy's house and Lake Tekapo Holiday homes again.

Askray on Rankin is a 2 bedroom apartment under a private home. It was clean, warm and with a great view. Would stay again. The office person administering the various homes rented out was friendly and efficient.

My wife and I stayed in the stargazers retreat for our honeymoon. We found that although some of it was quite nice, there were a few things which dampened our experience. The website made us believe this house was somewhat private, but it was right where all the tourists could see and it was right next door to another house. The bed was supposed to be a king but felt more like a double and was very uncomfortable, and the pillows were horrible. It looked to be styled very nicely but was a weird mix of old and new styes. The oven was hard to use and you had no idea what temperature it was at. There was no PS4 and the smart tv kept crashing. They said you could see the stars while in bed but there were just two little skylights which you couldn't see through while lying down. The couch was very uncomfortable and there is no separation of the bedroom and living spaces. The flowers we got were nice and the view is amazing, and the bathroom was quite nice, but overall we felt it wasn't worth it for the price.…

We booked with Lake Tekapo Holiday Homes but hadn’t realised that the place we were staying at was actually a part of someone’s home. It would appear that we had basically booked an Airbnb without actually having the choice of where we stayed. It had all of the downsides - lots of notes posted around telling us where we couldn’t access, to keep things clean and put away (or we would be charged extra) There were no replacement toilet rolls and only a quarter of a roll left to use for our 2 night stay. Keep the garden gates closed (because of rabbits) - now the gardens were lovely but Don’t pour anything on the lawn (as per the sign) but the home is in need of some TLC. The double bed was way too soft, the shower was over a “half bath” which was too small to bathe children in. There was a laundry with washer but no dryer and no clothes horse to dry clothes on, on a wet day. So overall beware - an Airbnb without any of the positives. …
