This accommodation is definitely the very best you could wish for. There were the most fantastic views from the balcony of this flat above a large barn. You could see for 360 degrees including Mount Taranaki and across to Tongariro. The flat is wonderfully equipped and the breakfast basket was just to die for with fresh eggs and milk from the Barberry Hill farm plus peaches and home-made muesli, Vogel bread and spreads. Yummy! The owners were lovely and friendly. It is well worth the money.

The weather for our 3 day stay at Barberry Hill unfortunately ranged from blustery gale force winds to hail and sleet and rain to some dry but very cloudy breaks - like everywhere in New Zealand that week except the sunny east coast! So sadly we didn’t ever get a complete ‘reveal’ of snow clad Mt Taranaki from the many vantage points in our amazing hill top eyrie. But lots of tantalising glimpses. However we could not have been cosier or more comfortable in our stylish, spacious and so private loft apartment. Our welcome from hosts Margaret and Peter and ongoing communication throughout our stay was likewise warm and full of fun and local insights. The Barn was an outstanding place to stay. Self catering was a pleasure in the well appointed kitchen especially with the generous basket provided of farm fresh goodies - including local eggs, fresh bread, butter, homemade muesli, yoghurt and fresh milk straight from their cows! Complete laundry access and under cover car shelter are a rarity when travelling so both were much appreciated too especially given the weather. The Taranaki region provided a wealth of things to explore and delight in and it was always a pleasure to come home and relax in our special ‘home away from home’. Thanks Margaret and Pete for all your additional ‘quality time’ especially the fun and informative milking session with the Dolly cows!

We stayed at Barberry Hill in March 2017 and to be honest did not want to leave! The owners Margret and Peter could not have been more friendly and gave us such a warm welcome and the apartment is amazing. Where do I start? The barn the apartment that we stayed is very large and has everything you could possible need to make your stay comfortable and memorable. All of it is purpose built totally unique and the fixtures and fittings to a very high standard. Now to the best bits, the view Taranaki is there in all its glory out of the windows and very large verander, you won't be able to keep your eyes of that view. The breakfast basket has all you need from eggs, butter, delicious muesli, bread jams and the farms famous Dolly Milk straight from the teat! The night skies when we stayed were incredibly clear, it was amazing to be able to see all the stars and the Milky Way. One night We were able to see the International Space Station fly over which was a real treat but of course you will have to be there at the right time to observe that. In some ways I feel I should not be writing this review as this location is so good that if I praise it to much it might be fully booked when we want to stay again in the future but that would be very selfish!! Thank you so much Marge and Pete until the next time Chris and Lynn

We stayed in The Shed, a modern, clean, spacious well-equipped loft space that had terrific views of the farming landscape. Our hosts, Margaret and Peter, were very nice and helpful. We were extremely comfortable and happy there!
