Great stay very large rooms quiet not far from city activities - great breakfast with endless croissants the staff are friendly and very accommodating for recommendations of restaurants and things to do. We enjoyed our stay and recommend the Hilton for our next stay.

We stayed at this Hotel on route home from Spain, However when we arrived we didn’t realise it was in the middle of a Housing estate, which was very strange, the parking is secure with gates , rooms are very clean and spacious, and you could get BBC Television, staff friendly. We thought that there was a on site restaurant for an evening meal ( we don’t need fancy just functional) however they offer food that is brought in and then heated in a microwave, not a huge choice either mainly pizza. However there is a restaurant no more then 10 minutes walk called La Belle Époque that the receptionist suggested. The food was very good there , we had 2 starter, 2 main, (Chicken skewer, and Lamb Chop ) 3 glasses of wine , 2 coffee €60. Young girl in there spoken English. Over all a good convenient stop.

Clean, decent cold breakfast choices and a very helpful front desk person (Kathleen) who worked hard. This is the third Holiday Inn Express I stayed at in Europe. There's good news and bad news about that. If you're from the U.S. these hotels in Europe are not like ours. Rooms are furnished minimally but functionally and are very clean (cleaner than many of ours). The down side is the minimal furnishing of things that could really be used in Europe but missing, i.e., no refrigerator, microwave, guest laundry or even an ice machine. These are things we expect at most of their U.S. properties. This hotel is hard to find and when you get there you feel like you're going into a prison with all the locking gates! There is a little grocery store (Spar) about a block away. There isn't much to do in this neighborhood so you will find Spar to be a handy place. I would stay here again but its too bad basic HI-Express amenities are lacking.

Extremely disappointed in this hotel, very different and not the usual HI standard as in the U.K. Stayed here one night, parked car in their ‘secure’ car park, next day discovered car had been vandalized. The hotel is in a rough area and we were dubious about leaving the car there, but had no choice.
The hotel will not respond to us, have also contacted HI client services.
Best to stay well away from this hotel and run down area

Response from IHG Service, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Express Bordeaux - Lormont, an IHG hotel
Responded 25 Mar 2021
Hello kerry111_11, Thank you for allowing us the chance to host you and for taking the time to leave us a review. We always strive to make each stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. However, it's concerning to learn that this was not the case on your most recent stay due to the issues encountered with your car defaced. The experience you described certainly isn’t what we want for any guest. Rest assured that I have shared your comments with the hotel management and I am certain that appropriate steps will be taken so this doesn't happen again. I would like the chance to look into this for you. I have sent you a private message to obtain more details. We hope this incident doesn't stop you from choosing IHG again for your future trips. Best, Jonathan A Case Manager IHGService

This concept keeps attracting us! You know what you get when booking an holiday inn express!
This hotel is brandnew, amazing staff during arrival on the 17th of September in the evening! They really welcomed us very properly. The room was great as always! Especially compared with the price you are paying for. Looking at other brands like louvre and accor you not always know what to expect. HI Express is for us the strongest 3 star concept that excists!
The only disadvantage was the breakfast and check-out on the 18th of September, the grumpy woman at the breakfast (long dark hair and glasses) was very unpolite and did not even look at us. No goodmorning, nothing! Such a shame because she ruines the entire stay of guests. At the reception they where to busy chatting with each other in the back office, you could see management was not on the floor during weekends.
Therefor not 5 but 4 stars!

This hotel is a great location if you don’t want to stay in the city.
There is a tram near by maybe a 15 minute walk and 15 min tram and you are in the heart of the city
Only 20 mins and you are in the wineries and right on an exit to the highway.
The rooms are nice, bright vans new.
There are no fridges but you can get ice from the bar. The breakfast was small but good for HIE.
There is a spa right near it and a bigger shopping centre maybe 5 min drive away.
Parking was free
Recommend and would stay here again

Perhaps it was because we came in winter, but this hotel did not live up to previous reviews. It was very much a mixed bag across the board. I've rounded down the stars as I'd give this 2.5 if I could, as it's definitely not a 3 star place currently.
The Good
- Comfy bed, nice linen
- Comfort in the room in general
- Cleanliness
- Eco friendly large bottles of good quality soap shampoo etc
- Location for leaving the city for day trips
The average
- General location - this will be off-putting for some people as it's in housing estates (and not affluent ones), it's about a 16min walk to the tram station, and very narrow roads driving in making it hard to get to (cars parked all along the sides)
- Road noise - constant but only an issue if you open the window which we needed to as the room was very warm and air con wasn't cold, tho not surprising as it's winter (I expect it wasn't turned on)
- Parking - in a caged/ gated section, wouldn't like to be here at a peak time as it was almost full the two nights we stayed
The bad
- Breakfast - very disappointing, not much choice at all, no effort put into it, no hot foods. Photos online definitely don't represent what's on offer at least at this time.
- In room TV - while a nice TV, no movie channel and no way to connect an external device or log into any of your own services
- WiFi - did not work the entire time we were there (this was not the individual hotel's fault but that of IHG and really for such a huge chain inexcusable)
- Staff morale - while everyone was friendly, no one did more than was expected to the point that when asking about finding a particular regional dish in the city, we were told "I have no idea, just ring some of the restaurants"
Bordeaux is a lovely city, as is the region as a whole. I can't recommend this hotel unless you need to be in that area particularly or are only passing through for a night. I've stayed in Holiday Inns before and while cosmetically this is one of the newest/ nicest, it left a bitter taste in the mouth. We've been staying in lots of hotels in France so far, and this has been the worst experience, for example the following night at a very old and cheap chain hotel in Biarritz next to the airport, we had an incredible breakfast, zero noise with the window open, and wonderful and helpful service (despite France losing the final).

This is a brand new property. Everything inside is new and shiny. Staff were friendly and spoke good English. The room was very large and my preferences were fulfilled. They have a small secure car park behind a locked gate, which is free to use for guests.
I specially booked a hotel outside of Bordeaux for ease of access and knew it was within a 5 minute drive (buttiniere). I also knew it would be in a new development. It was quite difficult to find as signage was poor, particularly when a GPS cannot find the location. The area felt a bit like a building site and I would have been slightly hesitant to walk around on my own at night. I expect in the future the area will look quite different. That being said, it’s a great hotel and I would stay again.

We stayed 1 night in this excellent hotel.
Pros:
1. The free parking
2. The stuff was very polite and helpful
3. Free breakfast
4. The room was super clean, quiet and designed in style
5. The check in and out was very quick.
Cons:
Location, location, location.
Tip: If you decide to go to Bordeaux center from the hotel by tram, be sure to take a drive with your car and park by the tram station; avoid the walking. It's about 20 minutes of walking from the hotel to the tram station. Making this late at night in this neighborhood might be not so pleasant.
