We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Burn Cottage Retreat before tackling the Dunstan Lake trail and a few day walks. the cottage was just perfect , very quiet yet close to Cromwell shops. Hosts Gill and Noel were very helpful with local knowledge and more like having good neighbor's to chat with. The cottage is set on a small farm with a picturesque garden and very friendly sheep! The walk up the up the hill behind the cottage was well worth the effort for the sunning view. Would recommend to anyone wanting time out in a lovely setting. Would definitely book again.

Hi Simon Thank you for your kind review. Noel and I both enjoyed hosting you both and would love to host you again if you are back this way. Our sheep are very food orientated so love anybody who visits - especially if they take them out some nuts. we are currently eagerly awaiting the birth of their lambs to extend our flock.

Burn Cottage Retreat lived up to our expectations and more. We stayed for a week and were sad to leave. It was the perfect setting to return home to after each day's activities in the Cromwell region. Nestled in a peaceful valley, it's well positioned a few minutes from town and as a central base for exploring the wider area as we did. The cottages are surrounded by extensive gardens that add a restful element to the very comfortable accommodation. Hosts Gill and Noel were most welcoming, going out of their way to provide extras (such as fresh scones and Nespresso coffee) that made our stay truly memorable. The Dunstan Bike Trail is a must do (e-bikes are very popular). Desert Heart winery in Bannockburn serves exquisite platters along with their first class wines. The Crown Range road (NZ's highest main road) from Arrow Junction to Wanaka offers some spectacular views. And of course, the stone fruit and settled weather make this area the perfect destination in March.

Thank you for your lovely review Paula. We are so pleased you both enjoyed your stay. Burn Cottage Retreat is a very special place, as we are still discovering, and part of that uniqueness is that it is a peaceful oasis where you can relax and feel like your in the country and yet it is only a short drive to town. I hope all your family and friends enjoyed the lovely Central Otago fruit. Hopefully we'll get to see you again some time in the future.

Our three days at Burn Cottage were absolutely delightful. The cottage is more spacious than we expected and has every amenity for a relaxing stay. It’s easy to while away the hours, reading in the cottage, wandering through the beautiful landscaped gardens, or setting out to explore the Central Otago area by car or bike. The hosts Gill and Noel were charming, attentive and helpful with local knowledge. Definitely a place to return to!

I decided to test my sanity by turning a 50th birthday party into a surprise wedding and do all the organising. Retiring to the Moonlight cottage after such an exhausting, yet amazing day was Mastercard priceless. Even if you live in Cromwell, this is a magical place for a night away.

Very nicely situated. The cottages are very well equipped. The cottage keepers are a polite and funny couple and care about your wellbeing. We enjoyed every single day on our stay and could have been longer for a couple more days. Always again, thank you!

This is the best BnB we have stayed at in a long time. Cecilia and Darryl were fabulous hosts and take great pride in their beautiful property. We stayed in Moonlight Cottage which was exquisitely furnished with a super comfortable bed. The cabin was spotlessly clean. We arrived just after 2 lambs were born which was very special. We stayed 2 nights and only wished we could have had another night. Highly recommend.

What a truly hidden treasure Burn Cottage Retreat is! We had the absolute pleasure of being hosted by Cecilia and Darryl in early April 2021. The warm greeting and freshly baked scones were the start to a wonderful four night stay. The tranquil setting was matched by the delightful and luxurious cottage that became our own little hideaway. The cottage was cozy and warm and well appointed with everything we needed including a barbeque that was ideal for the lovely evenings in the secluded outdoor area. Thank you Cecilia and Darryl for your hospitality and we look forward to seeing you again on the stay we have booked for later in the year. Trevor and Belinda, Greymouth NZ

We stayed for 6 nights in Little Rascal Cottage . We had the most special time. We LOVED the cottage and gardens. The cottage was spotless and superb. Cecilia and Darryl were the most amazing hosts and could not do enough for us. It was the little touches that made our stay extra special. The cottages are set on farmland and have beautiful gardens to wander in. Our cottage was very private and had its own BBQ and garden. We cannot rate this cottage highly enough. It was a wonderful base to explore Central Otago from. Our stay was perfect . We will certainly be back.
