Well this is a bit like the faulty towers of Malgrat de Mar. The reception staff were very helpful and polite. There was one woman behind the bar who was extremely rude and unhelpful and the same in the restaurant in the basement.

We didn't use the pool as it wasn't very clean or inviting and the rooftop pool looked like a health hazard with a wobbly rail to stop you from going over the edge of the roof.

The food was average and luke warm unless you had it off the freshly cooked griddle. The beer was good however I am not to sure about the spirits.

There was a great restaurant a minutes walk away and the location was fairly good for the train station which we used to travel into Barcelona for the day.

We would not stay here again as we have had a much better hotel for the money further down the coast at La Pineda.

The hotel is not in the best condition, it is certain that the restaurant and certain common rooms need to be renovated. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are really big. We stayed for 10 days on a half-board service. The food was excellent. All the staff are very friendly, I would especially like to praise the guy who works at the reception, he speaks perfect English and is always smiling. I'm not sure what his name is, but he's the only guy working at the front desk. We went to the pool once, there's really no need, the beach is across the street. The sea is cold, it is immediately deep, there are no shallows because of children, but it is very clean. The approach to the beach, as in the entire part of this coast, is a passage under the railway. It is clean, bright and really correct.
At the hotel, they give you beach towels with a deposit, which they return to you at the end.
When leaving, you have two options, either a late check-out or they give you towels and you can take a shower and get ready for departure if your flight and check-out from the hotel are late. As anyone wants.
Barcelona is close, about 60 km, you can go by train, whose station is 800m from the hotel, the train goes every half hour, and stops in the very center, at Placa de Catalyna.
The price of a return ticket is 11 euros per person

We stayed all inclusive for 5 nights 29/08-02/09 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Before travelling, we read varying reviews but can honestly say we felt Tropic Park offered excellent value for money and exceeded our expectations.

The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean and we were lucky enough to have a sea view from our balcony! Great shower and plenty of wardrobe space for our stay. We were on the front of the hotel above the busy Main Street and train line, but we weren’t able to hear any noise at nighttime which was brilliant!

The food was delicious and there was plenty of variety throughout the week. Lovely hot grill section where meat and fish was cooked to order. The chocolate fountain was a highlight for me on the dessert station, sadly it was only out for one night during our stay! If you aren’t a fan of continental food then your range of food choices would be much more limited.

Good range of drinks on the all inclusive menu, certainly enough to have a bit of variety throughout the week. Anything on the menu beyond the included drinks was reasonably priced. We didn’t try any of the snack options, but saw others enjoying them and they looked tasty.

The pool area was partially shaded throughout the day, which was ideal for us as it meant we could escape the very hot sun if needed! We arrived at the poolside about 10am each day and had no problem getting sunloungers throughout the week. The pool was fairly quiet for most of our stay, perhaps due to the partial shading and proximity to the beach!

The beach is accessible via a subway which is just around the corner from the hotel entrance. The sand is quite coarse and the sea gets deep very quickly so would definitely need to take care with children. There were loungers and parasols available to hire for around €6 per item per day.

The entertainment was fairly basic and not many people watching seemed particularly engaged, although we did enjoy a good dance at the disco one night! Entertainment isn’t important to us when choosing a holiday, so this wasn’t an issue for us but it is important to some people so it seems only fair to mention it!

The staff were all very very helpful, attentive and spoke extremely good English. They really do appreciate it when you try to speak a little Spanish too.

We caught the train to Barcelona, the hotel is pretty much equidistance between Malgrat and Santa Susanna stations - around a 15/20 minute walk to either. The train took 1hr 15 mins and cost €11 return. Well worth it for a day trip out!

All in all, we had a fabulous week and are leaving very relaxed and raring to return next year!

The hotel is clean and tidy with very friendly staff. The rooms are decent and well kept, they are spacious and have good double showers with a rainforest head too. The hotel is basic and has just 1 bar, 1 restaurant and quite a small basic pool downstairs. The pool area is shaded in the morning, however beach is only 5-10 min walk away. They do also have small pool on the roof. The food is all buffet style with a side chef area where they will cook food fresh in front of you, there are no al la cartes at this all inclusive, however the food is varied and tasted really good, as does the drinks on offer. I had no trouble getting as much food and drink as I wanted, the bar staff were really efficient. All drinks were served in glasses and there was no scrimping on the portions or using little plastic party cups. The all inclusive started from 10AM and finished at 11AM, you couldn't even get a bottle of water from the bar before 10AM, however breakfast downstairs provided drinks at the restaurant between 9-10AM. The evening entertainment was lacking, It was in need of some local semi-professionals or talents to put on more of a show, it seemed that the hotel was cost saving on doubling up the hotel staff jobs to provide entertainment. I would recommend walking down the strip which is right on top of the hotel for a bit more evening entertainment. The building exterior like the rest of this area are old and tired looking, there is also a train track that runs passed the hotel, although the trains are infrequent. Beach is standard and sand is a bit harsh like very tiny pebbles in some areas. If I could give 3.5 rating I would and if the hotel was down as a 3 star hotel, maybe even a bit more. Overall good location for beach and strip, great food and drink and nice staff. Just a pretty basic hotel. Oh and from 10AM check out your all inclusive stops, so no food and drink for free for those on a late flight.

Before booking, I read some reviews that said the hotel isn't very welcoming for UK but I chose to believe the positive ones instead. Unfortunately, I really don't think the hotel or the area wants travellers from the UK and I wish I'd listened to those reviews!
We got the train from Barcelona airport to Santa Susanna (hotel is exactly midway between Santa Susanna and Malgrat de Mar stations). We tried to get a taxi for the remaining 1.5km to the hotel, due to having suitcases with us. However, at the taxi rank the first taxi said he couldn't take us but that another taxi would be there in 5 minutes. No other taxi ever came! We went to Tourist Info over the road to ask them if they could call one for us but they wouldn't, and just told us the number to ring instead which we couldn't do as we (embarrassingly) speak only very basic Spanish (and no Catalan) and nobody seemed to speak English. We had no choice but to walk to the hotel with our children and cases.
The hotel itself is in a great location near the beach. Unfortunately we were given a room with a view of the supermarket and the apartments opposite. The room was tiny without enough storage, and there were stains on the bedside lamp and peeling wallpaper. Last summer we took a roadtrip across Europe, staying in lots of basic chain hotels and youth hostels. We never ended up with a room this small or grubby, even in hostels rated 2*. We were extremely grateful to the manager who moved us to a room which was much bigger and cleaner after two nights. I do wonder if we ended up with the original room (220) due to booking through a UK company (On The Beach), as it seemed like the poor standard in 220 wasn't reflected in the majority of other rooms (most guests aren't from UK).
My son and I are both coeliac so, as we always do, we emailed the hotel the week before our arrival to alert them to this. They responded to say they cater for all dietary requirements. Unfortunately when we arrived in the restaurant and asked about gluten free options, all the staff we asked said they didn't understand us. We had to take an educated guess about what we could eat. The word "gluten" is the same in English and Spanish so I found it implausible that nobody could understand what we were asking. Thankfully the manager helped us again after two days and we were then able to get gf bread and were offered gf pasta too.
The drinks service in the restaurant was quite frustrating. On one evening we had finished eating by the time we managed to order a bottle of water. The food itself is a good standard.
The hotel is rated 4* which I do find difficult to understand. I can't see what would make it 4*, and based on comparisons with other hotels, I would put it at 3* (and our original room fell far below this). Ultimately though, I would advise others to avoid this hotel unless you are local to the area. I'm very happy to be home!

Lovely hotel, accessible throughout. Good location right in the middle of Malgrat and Santa Susanna. The room was very big and the accessible bathroom was very modern with a wheel-in shower tray. Only criticism we have, the shaving mirror was attached very high on the wall and therefore not suitable for someone in wheelchair shaving at the sink independently. The food was fabulous every day, with a themed menu on each night. Eg. Tex mex, Spanish, sweets and Desserts with a chocolate fountain. Lots of foods to choose from with a Chef cooking meats and fish at request. Entertainment on most nights with a mini disco for kids. Staff very helpful, and the hotel, pool and dining area was lovely and clean.

In my opinion this hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel at all. The staff aren’t welcoming at all. We stayed half board and when eating at the hotel we had to pay for our drinks, which was expected however we was chased out of the hotel restaurant on multiple occasions for ‘not paying for our drinks’ that we had indeed paid for, when they realised on both occasions, there was no apology given. The food in the restaurant is average, there isn’t a massive variety of food options at all, we chose to eat out for the majority of the nights of our holiday due to this. The restaurant opens at 13:00-14:00 for dinner time and didn’t once open on time. It’s a very short amount of time to open at lunchtime so it got extremely busy and the food was taken very quickly, with little change over for fresh food. The hotel pool area isn’t as big as what it looks on the pictures and the sun beds get taken very quickly however there is a roof top pool. The roof top pool is absolutely lovely, finished to a high standard and really nice for relaxing however in the afternoon it gets extremely windy so be careful of this. The rooftop pool is suppose to be adults only, this wasn’t the case. There was children up there, crying and splashing about. There was no staff patrolling the area to stop this. The drinks around the pool area are very expensive, for 2 spirit mixers we paid €17. The rooms are nice however the beds are uncomfortable and the pillows are useless. The maids come round every day and they are really friendly and do a superb job. On a night there is a security guard, we arrived back at the hotel one night at around 10:30 and we was told to be quiet. There was only 4 of us and we wasn’t being loud at all, the security guard was very rude.
Other than the rooms being clean and the rooftop pool, they are the only good things I can say about this hotel.
Within the area there was many hotels that looked lovely from the outside, if I ever went back to Malgrat de mar I would consider staying in one of those instead.

Hotel was pleasant and clean but I wouldn’t rate it 4*
Rooms : clean and reasonably modern, however not much storage. Usual foreign hairdryer. Should have brought my own.
Sheets not changed daily but towels changed daily.
Reception checking in and out long winded
Safe lock can be hired for 5€ per day and €10 deposit
Pool/beach towels can also be hired. Access to the beach via a subway as main train line ran along the front. Beach wasn’t fine sand but more sharp sand with sudden dip into the sea.
On the whole restaurant and food was adequate but more staff would have been better to clear plates at mealtimes

Arrived at just after midnight technically day 2 of our holiday to a very rude receptionist. This was a reoccurring theme, the staff are unbelievably rude at reception. The bar staff and some of the restaurant staff are really nice.

The pool gets no sun until around 1pm, the children’s pool is filthy.

The rooms are nice and cleaned well the house keeping staff are nice too however, the hotel needs work the old wooden doors slam constantly and the walls are like paper!

The entertainment is none existent.

The food is very average, breakfast is the poorest for selection and quality. Lunch and evening meal are ok.

If you have a late flight your all inclusive ends at 10am so be prepared, even though we paid Wednesday to Wednesday we arrived Thursday and had no access to any food or drink passed 10AM we paid for 7 days and got 5!!

Margaret is very run down, nothing really happening.

Overall not a good experience and I can’t wait to get home.

I don’t know where to start so I will start at the beginning. My wife had booked this hotel for my birthday holiday.

We arrived in Spain and our transfer was late (different company we had booked with) this meant by the time we arrived at the hotel the dinner time had passed. So me and my wife were thinking we would need to go out to eat and spend money which we didn’t want to.

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly. They offered that we could have dinner at the hotel, even though the time had passed they took us to the kitchen and let us enjoy a very nice dinner.

I have to mention the food selection for Breakfast and Dinner was amazing, so much food, they do different themes of foods every day. There is a huge selection plus a chef on hand who can cook specialities for you too. Food is amazing!

It was my birthday, so my wife had asked reception on the day whether they could do anything for me on my birthday (without telling me of course)
The reception lady said no problem and they would sort it. On my birthday as I went to dinner they had decorated my table with balloons and lots of other decorations. After dinner when I finished my food, all the staff came out with a cake (which they had baked on the day and I have to say it was amazing) and they all sang me happy birthday. To my mrs delight everyone who was sat for dinner at the time also joined in to sing along with me.
It was really nice of them to bake a cake and go through all that effort on the same day.

The hotel has good entertainment at night, in a good location and has a beautiful beach right in front.

I can not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are amazing, the food is great with lots of variety, great location and the best staff you can get.
I can not thank everyone at this hotel enough. Thank you again. You were all amazing and I can’t wait to come back.

There certainly didn’t seem to be when we stayed a few weeks back. We went in shorts, flip flops and all sorts of clothes combinations! Definitely no “long trousers” type dress code!
