Stayed here for a weeks B&B, lovely hotel with a really great location. Super quiet of a nighttime but active enough during the day. Really nice poolside and close af to the beach, but beware that the hotel staff are not that friendly, during breakfast you have to fight for more than one coffee and they were surprisingly rude. Nice selection for the breakfast but minimal vegetarian options for lunch and dinner from the sister restaurant attached to the hotel (Sea Deck.) Reception staff were super helpful and lovely. Rooms were cleaned to a really great standard everyday, fresh towels, every surface cleaned etc. Covid restrictions wise, EVERYONE was in a mask, hand sanitiser everywhere, tables cleaned all the time, social distancing was really evident. Considering Iv never visited Portugal before I was really impressed.

This was our 3rd trip to Alvor south beach and its still a great relaxing hotel for a break. Reception staff very friendly and welcoming, bar staff despite being very young and inexperienced where a credit to the hotel, always smiling and doing anything they could to help. Breakfast hasn't changed since we started coming but the fresh fruit is amazing, cooked breakfast is repetitive but still ate it every morning. Large selection of pastries every morning, not for me but everyone seemed to enjoy with tea and coffee. Pool area is beautiful and relaxing, plenty of sunbeds usually however the bali beds were reserved very early in the morning, I'm a early riser and went a walk on the beach around 7 am and they were always taken, mayb a small charge for bali beds so everyone has a fair chance in enjoying them. Rooms are good though a bit of wear and tare is starting to show, our toilet roll holder kept falling of wall and toilet seat was loose. Maid service was good and clean towel whenever required. The sea deck restaurant unfortunately we didn't use as it seemed to specialise in fish and we aren't big fish eaters but it was always very busy, with Alvor centre a short walk away there was so many other restaurants to choose from. The beach is about 20 metres away from the hotel and is amazing with the sand cleaned every morning. Overall enjoyed my 3rd trip here and would definitely go back.

So many reasons why we should have rated the hotel excellent but just a few things let it down. We loved the hotel in many ways, compact and only two floors, very laid back and tranquil with no reps trying to drag you off your sunbed every 10 minutes to join a daft game. Our pool view first floor room was spacious and comfortable without having a great view of the pool .Wifi , safe and pool towels not something you get at every hotel free of charge. The breakfast room area we thought was excellent although maybe in July/August could get a little cramped. The 3 girls who mainly waited on at breakfast we couldnt rate higher. Nothing was too much trouble for them and always with a smile. They brought Latte or Cappucino to the table if you preferred that and helped with requests for different eggs/omlettes. Those 3 girls definately got top marks. The pool area is lovely set in a pretty garden area. Plenty sunbeds well spaced out. A walk along the boardwalk past the scrubland to the beach about a 100 yards away. 15 euros for beach bed hire. So why not the top rating? Its always the small things. For the first few days we were invited to help ourselves to the filter coffee. Around day 5 the breakfast supervisor snapped at us and said we shouldnt be helping ourselves she would bring the coffee. She was actually quite unpleasant about it. 10 minutes later she still hadnt brought the coffee so we asked one of the young girls who responded immediately. The hotel website offers a paid shuttle bus service. We never saw one and the reception staff didnt know anything about it. So why offer it? The first wednesday it was apparently Happy Hour, every wednesday the barman told us. We went the following Wednesday, no Happy Hour, finished till 2023. It was only early September. The Star Decks restaurant has a very limited menu and is very short of trained staff. We were given a bowl of olives, at least half had been eaten by other people so they had chucked their stones back in the bowl and this was the same bowl now given to us. The final negative, not really the fault of the hotel is the inland walk to the centre. Its along a dusty, busy main road lacking in pavements. It did feel quite dangerous at night. So overall the hotel has some beautiful features but could do better.

The hotel looks very nice on the surface and made my choice based on the pictures they showed on the website. It’s walking distance to town with a lot of good restaurants and the beach in front of the hotel is very nice. If you want to charge incidentals to your room, make sure to mention this at check-in, as otherwise you will need to go back to the front desk to open your account. The pool area with the 3 pools looks very nice. However the dark wooden floors can get quite hot and reflect the sun well and they could consider to invest in better loungers than the plastic ones for better aesthetics.
We were upgrade to a ‘suite’ which was more like smaller room with an equally sized entrance hall without any windows that just featured a sofa bed and a tv. In the bathroom, they provide shower gel and shampoo from large dispensers. However, there’s no body lotion, so make sure to pack that. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable with a worn out mattress. Whenever you moved, the entire bad made cracking noises, which especially at night was rather disturbing. The A/C wasn’t the most easy to regulate. The breakfast was extremely messy. Once you entered the area, you needed to try to catch the attention of servers for cutlery and coffee. The buffet area had a basic amount of choices, however plates were only ever (if you were lucky) replaced when it was completely finished so that a lot of their choices weren’t available whenever you went to the buffet. The checkout experience was simply appalling. They fully charge the room at check-in, but we opted to also charge incidentals to the room by going back to the front desk during our stay and arrange it. At the time I had to show my creditcard again, but apparently no authorisation was taken. When I wanted to pay with card at checkout, their terminal rejected it and also rejected 2 other cards that I offered. She tried several times and insisted that my card is declined. I insisted that wasn’t the case and I had to show my card to reopen my account a few days earlier and I don’t want to use any alternative form of payment. The manager joined and also insisted that my card is rejected as it’s certainly no problem with their terminals. He kept saying that my card is no good and I should get some cash to pay. He proclaimed that their terminals are fine, as for a fact the one at the bar has also been working. He only considered to try that one, after I suggested that he might want to go over there and fetch that terminal if it’s indeed working. Once he got that terminal, suddenly my card was no longer rejected (as they claimed) and the payment went through. This embarrassing process took more than half an hour. Overall I feel the staff in all areas is lacking some basic amount of training, which makes it at times quite an experience for the guests.

The Good: Friendly staff, good breakfast, close to the beach, decent cocktails at a reasonable price, nice room with decent bathroom
The Bad: The pool was really cold. I understand it was not the height of summer, but really a heated pool is required for anyone to enjoy – the water was about 15C.
No light on the balcony – this might seem trivial but consider that sunset was about 6.30pm. It was nice sitting on the balcony watching the sun go down, but we wanted to read or play cards and had to give up and go back inside the room.
Cleaning staff are not great – often our room would be cleaned very late in the day which was a hassle. Apparently the latest the cleaner should come is 4.30pm, so I was annoyed to arrive back at our room at 5.15pm after a day out only to see the cleaner just starting to clean, so we had to go away for another 30mins and come back. Also, the cleaner didn’t take away empty bottles and glasses but did take away our room card (which we left in the holder to provide electricity to charge a tablet). I’d rather they took away my rubbish and left stuff I need.
Bedroom ceiling – instead of a normal painted ceiling, the entire room ceiling was one giant picture of six young ladies splashing around in a pool. Not a big deal, but just no need.
The hotel advertises ‘fitness centre’ – I had to laugh when I saw this, as it comprised a couple of dilapidated weight-training items located on a grassy area near the pool. The worst ‘fitness centre’ I’ve ever seen!

On arrival everything looked nice our room wasn’t ready so left our phone number so they could contact us. Staff were great on the whole very professional and with a few exceptions seemed pleased to be doing this type of work. Our room was first floor facing away from the pools room 112 with a sea view. Beware if you leave the patio doors open you will be inundated with mosquitoes. This wasn’t very nice at all. Generally the suite was decent enough plenty of space with a sliding door in between the two rooms. The bathroom had an in bath shower but found this to be very slippery and dangerous. We asked for a rubber bath mat but they were unable to supply so we used a hand towel daily so wife didn’t fall. We think a walk in shower would have been a better option. The swimming pools and surrounding areas needed a lot to be desired. The pool overflow areas were absolutely filthy in a lot of areas and think this needs daily cleaning. Above the water line the grouting and tiles in places were again absolutely filthy. Most of the sun beds were in poor condition and in need of replacement as they sagged and slats were broken or damaged. The day beds were filthy first thing in the morning making our towels filthy dirty perhaps a full clean daily would be of benefit. The bar and café/restaurant we found this to be rather expensive for the quality of food it served. I.e we asked for a chicken burger with chips one day and we’re served with 3 of the smallest thinnest slices of chicken on top of a ring of pineapple (see picture).
The location if the hotel was good you are able walk along the board walk into alvor and if you decide not to walk the 10 minutes back there are plenty of taxis.
This hotel was a 4* , personally I don’t think the quality reflects this rating. We have decided we shan’t return I’m sorry to say, Nb the bar closes at 23:00.

We had a great holiday at PASB. The room was clean and big enough. Everyday the room got cleaned and the hotel is very serious about the corona virus. The breakfast was not what you expect from a 4 star hotel but it was nice that you could take away your breakfast to eat it at your hotel room. Shout out to Beatrice who was always smiling and ready to help you!
Unfortunately there were a lot of children so most of the time they were making noise in the pool. So if you want a holiday without a lot of kids this is not a place for you.
Overall we had a great time here.

We travelled a couple with a baby to this lovely hotel which is well situated right on the beach. We stayed in a suite which was nicely decorated with a small lounge room off the bedroom which both had tv’s. We found the bed comfortable. Our view was not the best as we were facing the side of the hotel. The hotel should maintain this area better by planting some flowers etc and I think that would make a difference. The pool view snd sea view rooms would be better for the view. The breakfast was excellent and good quality. We are at the pool restaurant a couple of times and the food was good there also. I do think the menu would be better if they had more lighter meals such as sandwiches as that is all you need during the day and I think more guests would eat there for lunch if there were lighter more reasonably priced meals on the menu. We were there in September so there was not many children so I think it would be more suited during this time for couples or groups of adults. Alvor is a lovely resort and the walk from the hotel by the boardwalk is very nice however it would be great if they improved the main walkway to Alvor as there is no paths a lot of the way and is quite dangerous especially with a buggy. All in all I would very much recommend this hotel and we had a fabulous holiday!

Myself and my husband have today returned home from a week at this lovely hotel .first of all i would to thank the staff who went out of there way to knock on our door with a cake and fizz on our anniversary day 😁 it was a lovely surprise and was totally unexpected. We also was surprised with our room being upgraded on arrival .i could not fault anything about the rooms and how spotless this hotel is .unfortunately their is a few members of staff who work around the bar area that spoiled it for other members. Twice i was ignored when standing at the bar when nobody else was waiting ,The breakfast had plenty of choice but unfortunately the cook breafast was only served slightly warm even at 7.30am when the breakfast area opens . We manged breakfast 3 mornings out of our 7 night stay the other 4 we decided to eat else where .
Saving sunbeds .... on check in we was asked to sign a agreement that we unstood that no sunbeds could be reserved i thought this was a very good idea. Shame others didnt stick to the agreement and hotel staff did not do checks . With our room looking over the pool everyday by 9am most beds had towels on them but nobody on them for hours at a time .
We would return to this hotel again knowing how spotless the rooms are,comfort of the beds, the pools spotlessly clean and the staff members who can be polite .

We had a lovely relaxing holiday here in May. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really nice with the usual assortment of hot and cold foods. If you wanted eggs cooked other than scrambled you just had to ask. Our room had a pool view but was very near the bar area and so not quite as private as I would have liked as we liked to lie on the sunbeds in our 'garden' area. We found the beds to be very comfortable and the shower was very good, hot water was always on tap. The pool area was very nice with plenty of sunbeds and no problem of them being 'booked' by bed blockers. There were the odd few people who did this but it didn't cause any problems. We didn't dine in the restaurant as we prefer to wander into town and soak up the atmosphere of Alvor which is pretty special.
