Pitch of tents too close to each other (I could hear the neighbors snoring) the land is dirt ( very dusty) there was a house construction right next to the campsite, from 8am the noise, the mini-market has almost nothing, the employees do not understand Portuguese (as often at the algarve), the bathrooms and showers very old, the washing machines are dirty inside my laundry came out dirtier than before, and 5 euros / machine .. Too expensive. I pointed out to the reception my concern with washing machines, the young man replied: it has nothing to do with the campsite, there is a helpline you just had to call.
The location of the campsite is great, we are close to everything but the campsite does not want to consume on site.

Pros:
• Cleaning: excellent. The cleaning ladies make the toilettes shiny clean several times a day. They even say hello. The rest of the staff seldom do, preferring to keep a straight face in a quite un-Portuguese way.
Cons:
• The wi-fi is free, but it doesn’t work. You have to bring your own.
• Most of the people in the reception shouldn’t have to do with other people, since they don’t seem to like them much.
• The staff uses a big diesel tractor. This vehicle makes a lot of noise every day.
• They use noisy motor equipment for trimming hedges, sweeping leaves or cut branches.
• A dog cost €2.25/day (69/month)!
• If you want to park a rental car inside the camping, it will cost you €4.50/day (€135/month)!
• The campsite is on a hill, so there isn’t a single plot that is even.
• There are multicoloured trash bins on the site, but since they are unmarked, no one knows what to put where.
• Outside the camping is just the busy main road of Alvor. No walking paths in nature.
• The toilettes and showers areas are unheated. So on winter mornings, 6 degrees outside means 6 degrees inside.
• You can only pay with cash. Only Portuguese credit cards are accepted.
• Electricity: €5/day!
• Washing machine: €5!
• A sign in the rest rooms says: “Please save toilet paper”, perhaps an indicator that the camping may be in financial difficulties, which might explain much of their mood and behaviour.
The feeling we get is that they're trying to squeeze the last cent from your pocket.

Response from Ana S, Sub-Gerente at Camping Alvor
Responded 23 Jun 2020
Hello Nanne I am a little surprised by your evaluation, since it was 5 years with us, frequent customer who knew better than anyone what was waiting for you when you arrive, I believe that if you spent 5 years with us it was not all bad because it always ended up returning. We would like to leave some notes and try to explain our part, as far as the Internet is concerned we really know that the signal was not the best, but the truth is that you were at the end of the park, the signal is spread by several antennas and the farther, the harder it is to catch, but in fact whenever Nanne came to the reception we always tried to do our best to solve his problem. About the reception staff the reason for your disgruntled is linked to a specific situation that I know, however a bad moment is not reflected in others, and I must also mention the fact that there is the reference of the dog, we know that this was the reason why there was more disagreement, but the fact is that the animals have always been charged and you know that there have never been changes in relation to that, in 5 years the price was varying but the items are the same. Regarding the tractor it has always been used to remove the dumpsters, here as in any other park, so it is impossible to do it from another, the other option would be for the dump trucks to go straight to the sites inside the campsite, which seems to me to be even noisier. Every year it is necessary to clean the park, and several tools must be used for this task. About the Toylet Paper when this information was placed is for the education of people who unfortunately do not have it, because from toilet paper inside the toilets, on the floor, wet glued to the windows, we must try to educate that the paper is for everyone and not to waste, in additional information I must inform that when it came in 2015 there was no paper in the toilets only because we think it is better for campers, because by law is optional, so it is not for financial reasons as you see is out of consideration to all customers. I don't believe that since 2015 you haven't had a good time with us and that the only good thing is the cleanliness of the bathrooms, I know that several situations in the last year have led to this disagreement but I also know that Nanne was a good customer, always nice and kind that´s the reason you came for 5 years

We chose this site from the ACSI directory. It was a new listing, considerably cheaper , at 12 euros per night , than it 's local competitors.Free wifi , which covers all the site , and has a strong signal , and 16 amps electricity supply.
Toilet facilities a bit dated , but very clean. Plenty of hot water.... but you have to run the taps !
Very pleasant and welcoming staff.

Well we said we would be back having spent our last holiday abroad (2019) visiting Alvor we certainly knew we could guarantee a pleasant stay at Alvor Camping.
This time we didn’t stay for a short stay we were enjoying ourselves so much we stayed a little under 4 weeks, and if we hadn’t had to be back for work we would have stayed longer!
Just as we remember if not BETTER!
Facilities clean we were opposite shower block 3, hot showers and clean toilets what more can you ask for?
Staff very friendly, of an evening we would return back to a nod and a wave from the security guard, the cleaners always spoke as did the chaps doing work onsite and collecting bins.
This time we made friends with people who were living on the site, it was very difficult to bring ourselves away.
The only 2 negatives we could find 1. Both bars were closed while we were with you (opened as we were leaving early Feb!) Might-be an idea to have one open as your busy enough in winter! 2. Although we found a fantastic sunny and quite private spot we found there were too many in the electric box and our electric kept tripping we only run a small fan heater of a morning and a cool box, however the bigger motor homes were draining it all, we also found ourselves blocked in on a few occasions as the drive to our pitch was flat and people kept parking up there if we had to get out in an emergency we couldn’t have… you did seem busy which was great to see and as we say we will be back, and thank you!

Camping Alvor: a campsite that is not suitable for motorhomes, it is chaos, small plots with stones, staff who ignore everything, we asked for help to find a plot and they put us in a place that destroyed the bottom of the motorhome and they ignored it , they told us where to go. We paid 4 euros per person to be in the pool and after having checked into the campsite we had to leave, everything was chaotic, the power went out, we lost a day of vacation, we do not recommend going there. We stayed in one of the apartments in the park that allows pets and we really liked it.
The apartment was very clean, with the essentials for the holidays.
All the park staff are very helpful and friendly.
The pool was always clean.
The park has a lot of space and is a 2-minute walk from Pingo Doce (which is very handy), a 10-minute walk from the center of Alvor, which has a good nightlife for families. It is a 25-minute walk from Alvor beach, but if you go by car it is 5 minutes and there is always parking.
The village is lovely.
It has restaurants, nice bars and good ice cream shops. We think the quality/price ratio is fair.
WE LOVED IT!!

Would highly recommend this site..the pitches are very unorganised but once in situ well worth it..facilities spotless. Two large toilet blocks plus a very small one..the one we used was more than acceptable..lovely hot showers, sometimes too hot. Lovely swimming pool, staff very friendly. Just a 5 minute walk to a reasonably sized supermarket, but the biggest attraction fo this site is the lovely fishing village of Alvor, a 10 minute walk away. Lovely restaurants, bars and shops. A beautiful walkway which is decked and goes on for miles, or so it seems. Will definitely return, another added bonus is that this is an ACSI site so only cost us €11 a night..what more could you ask for.

The site has no order to it you have to just squeeze in where ever you can, most of the electric hook ups no longer work, could only get could water from the one shower cubicle in the gents side the women's side has only one cubicle but two for washing dogs, again only cold water available, five times I was promised someone would come and look at the electric hook up but nobody came,it is a steep campsite mor suited to a mountain goat, it also has some sort of farm attached to it so the Cockrells, start crowing at 4am that then starts the other animals and local dogs off, this is more suitable for a insomniac

Booked in at reception for a few days then went to look a pitch, top level very small pitches which were all taken. Ventured down to the left and pitches were over grown and not clearly marked we could not find an electric point close to any pitches, very dark and gloomy. We then went to the right down the hill and it looked like a breakers yard with old rusty motor homes. Also what looked like the oldest and unsafe children's play area. We left immediately, this campsite should be taken off the ASCI website.
