The transfer from the Airport was quite long and took 1 hour 45 mins - We arrived quite early at the hotel at 11:30am - checked in and found we could not get our room until 15:00 which was not great after a long journey (however in the event we got access to it at 14:30) - room was great - bathroom really good - Food is ok - however we noticed that, as most all inc. hotels do, whatever was on the lunch menu before becomes an exotic concoction at the next sitting (sometimes better than the first offering) Surroundings are really nice and there is a gate that opens onto a path that leads to Praia Dos Tres Irmaos beach - which is really nice to mooch down to to paddle in the sea - the Main Hotel Pool is quite busy and the parasols are much sought after and go quite quickly - it is surprisingly cold when you get in but once the initial shock has gone it’s great - there are 9 hut style beds which can be rented for either half 10 euros or full days at 20 euros - these are booked up quite far in advance - so book early. However I was a tad miffed that I had to clean up food and drink from off the bed - left from people sitting in it from the night before. There is a children’s pool and infinity pool which we didn’t use, but looked really nice - One thing that the Hotel needs a big up for is their policy on sun beds - if people leave towels on and go off doing whatever leaving the sunbeds unoccupied - then a chap will remove the towels to allow people who want to use them to get settled by the pool - fair play to them 🤜🤛👍.
Excursions can be booked with the TUI rep who’s there every day between certain times and we did book one - Caves and Dolphins which cost 156 euros for 3 of us. However we did find that these can be a good bit cheaper if you visit Old Alvor Harbour - there are loads of Excursion kiosks so you could save a few euros.
On the whole it’s certainly worth staying here - it’s maybe not a “I’ll be back” but nice

There were also activities for children such as feeding fish, games, etc. There was an area for children up to the age of 12 that they could stay there with the supervisors and adults were free during the period of activities. In the bar on the 2nd floor there were popcorns until 22:00 and a billiard table that was paid 2€ to play. Inside the hotel there is a shop( quite expensive) and a multibank.For those who wanted to walk in the evening, there is not much to go in Alvor, because it is a quieter area.To complete a hotel is very good, I advise to go.

Another lovely stay at the Pestana Blue Alvor Beach. We stayed at the hotel in May, when it had only just opened after its refurbishment. We had a great time but very much acknowledged the "teething problems" the hotel was trying to put right. Well, they have certainly done that. We had a lovely "welcome back"reception and it felt like visiting friends rather than staying in a hotel.We noticed improvements such as better food temperature control; food labelling had made progress (and we understand is being improved even further); pastel de natas at breakfast, more flavouring in cooked food. And the variety of food, the evening showpieces from a 100+ kg swordfish, to oysters, lobsters, langoustine, paella - it was excellent. Restaurant staff were always so helpful in answering my questions, I cannot fault them. Bar and snack van food was good, too. Other "improvements/additions" were small tables near the sun loungers around the pools, a drinks station near the infinity pool, in the afternoon a lady walking around handing out donuts to those interested, a special underground "base" for teenagers. Luigi's was excellent as well, Fuego a little less to our liking but we all have different tastes. The bars were always busy and bar staff always so very busy, cheerful and helpful.
The hotel location is ideal, close to the beach and a 25 minute walk from the centre of Alvor. Rooms are lovely and you do not hear anything from your "neighbours" unless they are walking in the corridors. Room service was fine although we did have some "google translate" moments when our "bidet towel" had not been replaced.
We certainly give the Pestana Blue Alvor Beach its five stars, facilities are excellent. The biggest strength of this hotel is its management and staff team, they are continuously striving to improving the hotel to ensure that you have a lovely holiday. - Clean and modern rooms, bathroom needs remodeling and renovation of the sewers (they make some noise that is annoying at night). Lots of sunlight comes in through the bedroom door - Wi-Fi throughout the hotel with very good signal - Restaurants with quality food and variety, we never had queues, there were always free tables and food was replenished quickly. The breakfast is of extreme quality. However, I suggest 2 improvements: having fresh orange juice at breakfast and having more variety of desserts and sliced fruit (it was always melon/pineapple/watermelon and orange) - Fuego Restaurant with extremely high-quality and refined à la carte service - The snack needs to be improved in terms of quality and variety to be at the same level as other meals, they are always the same products, they serve hamburgers and dogs but that's all every day, I suggest more variety - In the bars the drinks are good and of quality, both those served at the counters and from the machine - Very fun nighttime entertainment, high points - the magician and Mrs da viola/singing on the night of 11/6 - Point for urgent improvement: greater number of sun loungers with parasols. It is regrettable that guests reserve chairs and are not in the pool area. There is a sign indicating prohibition but every day they did it, I suggest the staff remove the towels. There are enough sun loungers but there are few umbrellas - The pool floor is very bad. A big thank you to all the staff at Pestana Blue Alvor Beach hotel for a great all inclusive holiday. We booked two days before departure to escape the UK weather and we couldn’t have been happier. A lovely modern room on floor 11 with balcony and sea views. The breeze off the Atlantic and clear blue skies resulted in perfect weather. We loved the location and enjoyed long walks along the boardwalk into Alvor and also to the lighthouse at the mouth of the estuary. Lots of people out walking and jogging in the early morning sunshine so bring your trainers. A lovely long sandy beach in one direction and hidden rocky coves in the other. We explored the wooded area above the cliffs to the east of the hotel and viewed the spectacular rock formations and inaccessible coves. A little further along the coast is Praia do Vau and we walked from there along the beach to the marina at Portimão, probably only possible at low tide. The hotel has recently been refurbished and the reception area with its restful underwater video playing and water feature were lovely. The small but well equipped gym was quiet and inspired us to try the weights which we’ll continue at home. The food was good and the restaurant was never too busy. The restaurant staff were polite and attentive. Some impressive displays in the restaurant of roast pig one day and on another, a huge swordfish (or maybe marlin) being expertly dismembered for cooking. I wish we’d taken a photo. The wines, cocktails and beer were all good. The poolside bar provided an excellent buffet as an alternative to lunch in the restaurant as did the burger van. The hotel, pools and gardens were clean and well maintained. An adult only infinity pool with lawns, trees and some welcome shade on our recliners suited us. Paulo, the TUI rep was always friendly and visible unlike reps at some hotels we’ve been to. A €11 taxi ride into Portimao dropped us by the harbour and the taxi driver helpfully pointed out the taxi rank for the return journey and several places of interest. Highly recommended is a visit to the museum (€3) which is in a building which was originally a sardine processing and canning factory and which has been preserved intact with excellent displays showing the history of this industry once vital to the Portuguese economy. We’ve recently visited both Spain and several Greek islands but, for us, Portugal is the winner and we’ll be back later in the year.

We spent two nights in this hotel to get to know each other, because we were curious once that we had seen it earlier, when we passed to the beach, when we stayed in the "old" blue alvor. Aesthetically is beautiful, was well restored, pleasant, spacious and modern rooms. As for me and what have been my experiences in hotels including hotels Pestana, the service is below what one can expect from a 5-star hotel in Portugal. Meal service at the buffet restaurant: - little interesting food in sight, little varied and poor confectionery; - weak table support service: let a lot of dishes accumulate on the table, delay in answering any request (either from a drink that is not available to the public, or from a baby soup); - rare employees to master the Portuguese language; - Employees without a fard/uniform (each wearing his black pants, his black shoe and his white blouse/shirt), staff working on the grille equally (to wear his own hat with the initials "NY" or dresses with jeans pants). Of course these aspects do not directly affect my stay but for a hotel of the pesta group, now rated with 5*, there are minimum requirements to meet; - uncomfortable and inadequate chairs at the height of the tables; - intense smoke and creation of fog inside the restaurant, and smell when the grilled.. opened windows, which on a windy day as it was quite uncomfortable; - little personnel in the cleaning of the spaces, not guaranteeing the removal of dishes and remains of food that people are leaving by the tables of the bars and etc; Children's swimming pool located in the area that only catches sun from 13:00, then never warms the water naturally. Which makes the place unappetizing. The access to the beach is good and fast, 5 min walk; Snacks unvaried and uninteresting. They do not offer individual yogurts, which for babies gives way. In general, I do not recommend this hotel simply because I think the price has nothing to do with the quality they are presenting. Compared with the two experiences that I had with the "old" eyebrow blue alvor, this presents itself with a much weaker and less appealing service.

My husband and i have just returned from a week away here and we had a fantastic time. Take some of the lower reviews with a pinch of salt, some grumbles are incredibly pathetic from some of these people! Our room was lovely and spacious with a great balcony, and everywhere was exceptionally clean. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels given and water & juice replenished in our fridge. All the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Surendra on the bubbles bar in the evening is the happiest barman, and also makes the best Mojitos! We were very impressed with the premium spirits on offer and the quality of the drinks. Both the a la carte restaurants are superb, make sure you do not miss out on those! So much food available throughout the entire day, you could never go hungry here so i can not understand a review i read about someone ordering McDonald's due to hunger!! Adult only pool was the perfect place for us to relax and unwind, the comfy beds there were a bonus.
We took a 30 minute uber to Lagos one afternoon and spent the evening there. Only 10 euro each way, so very easy to go and venture out to different places. The walk into Alvor is lovely along the beach, with lots of nice bars to sit in and soak up the gorgeous sunset in the evening.
All in all a fantastic holiday and a lovely hotel, we would definitely recommend.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and it is the best all-inclusive hotel we have stayed at. Food quality and choice is excellent and, as well as very good wine and beer, there are cocktails and spirits such as Baileys freely available. If you are so inclined you could eat and drink from 7.30 am until 10 pm as there are snack bars as well as the main restaurant. There are 2 other restaurants that you can book. We went to them and they were a nice change but the main restaurant is more than enough and has lots of choice. The staff in the restaurant seem to be in perpetual motion clearing and relaying tables. Every member of staff we encountered was cheerful and friendly; a real asset to the hotel. Our room was cleaned daily. We had a very good sized room with a fantastic sea view and I was impressed with the size of balcony and quality of the balcony furniture. Loved the different pool areas, main, children's area and adults only. Something for everyone. We found it easy to get a sunbed as there didn't seem to be a morning rush to get one or any sunbed hogging-civilisation, indeed! The location is great. 5/10 minute walk to beach and lots of walks along the beach or the network of boardwalks that link to Alvor. Also a mention to the entertainment team in Coral bar. They work so hard throughout the day and evening and are a real asset to the hotel.

I have just spent a week here with my partner. A really good Hotel, well run with friendly and efficient staff. The location is excellent with easy access to the fabulous Alvor beach and small fishing village of Alvor.
Our room was large and airy, with a larger than usual balcony, which was a lovely sun trap in the afternoon and evening,
Food and drink was excellent and available pretty much all the day. Especially noteworthy were the two feature restaurant which offered a fine dining experience.

It was the third time we visited this renovated hotel! We really like it..... Positive points....beautiful renovated hotel overlooking the beach....attentive staff ...all included at this time prices still affordable.... Things to change... check the dishes and glasses left in the pool area... always everywhere... the beach towels are a little old some with holes... the food should be more varied and the desserts also ( ⁇ mousses puddings ... always cakes and afternoons!! from the part of the animation all very friendly ( could change the songs .... Every day always the same....) do more activities in the water.... Putting live music was also a good idea.... But in general they are days well spent, rested and willing to come back again! Our room was large enough to easily accommodate a cot.
You will have to pay a premium for a 180 degree sea view but it was worth every euro.
