The room was great - the Goldnest was perfect for us and the children. The open bathroom is a bit of a challenge for four people, but it is very modern. The beer garden and the food were also really great! Unfortunately, the playground is no longer in very good shape and the petting zoo is basically a barn/stable on the pasture.
Otherwise, we only found out by chance at the second breakfast that sausage and egg dishes can be ordered. That's a shame and could certainly be proactively communicated to guests. The quality of the breakfast was top notch, as was the service when checking in/at reception. We would recommend the Waldvogel!

We live in Germany (three years now) and have travelled all over, yet we've never written any reviews. Waldvogel so impressed us however, that we almost couldn't wait to write about it.
OK, it's a bit far off the beaten path, but for us (a young family visiting nearby Legoland with a toddler) it was a great location. It is just charming in design and if the rain had only just stopped for a moment we would gladly gone walking in the area. The staff are wonderful and the room (we were in #110) small but spotlessly clean with comfortable beds...and I am 7 months pregnant so something of a "bed comfort expert" these days!
But the thing that really made the experience amazing for us, was the food. We love all kinds of food and will try anything and have eaten all over the country, but the dinner at Waldvogel was exceptional. Had we had more than one night, we would have gladly worked our way through their menu. The buffet breakfast with fruit, honey, eggs, jams, bread etc all made right there on the farm (and there was a lot more variety to go with that by the way) was really wonderful.
The only negative - and this is just a personal thing for me as a light sleeper - was that the curtains only closed far enough to cover half the window, so we were bathed in bright light at 5:00 am. But really, everything else at this hotel was so incredible, it was really a minor annoyance.
Thank you Waldvogel - we'll be back!

Very quaint hotel in the countryside just outside Leipheim. Bedrooms had lots of wood so felt like you are in a farmhouse but modern at the same time. Restaurant was pleasant and the staff were great. Big garden area for relaxing or dining. Great forest or countryside walks at your doorstep.

This hotel is truly a gem. Personnel is very kind, hotel is clean and neat.
Our room was nice, with all the necessary accommodations. It seems to be recently renovated, with the use of a lot of wood. This gave the room a modern and cosy feel.
Wifi is not that great though, and you should ask for a code at the reception. One code per device you want to hook up.
This hotel still is a farm, where they bake their own bread, cultivate their vegetables and prepare their own marmelades,....
Outside you can make a nice walk, they have a playground for the kids (this needs some renovation work), you can pet the farm animals, they have a maze and a 'soccer golf' nearby.
We had some diner as well, and that was just great. Price was not too high, and it tasted delicious.
The evening before you're asked what you want for breakfast. There is way too much to choose from, and most of it is homemade. Breakfast was again superb.
If I have to point one more negative point, most of the personnel doesn't speak English at all, or very little, which makes it hard for them to express themselves. This could lead to the fact they are perceived as unkind, but they are certainly not.
Tip: When ordering in the restaurant, ask for both the German and English menu so you can point in the German menu what you want to eat, after having made your choice in the English one :)

There isn’t so much to choose from in this area so I am going to give the hotel 3 stars. Some more details…
Pros: Clean, recently renovated rooms, nice restaurant on-site, free parking, free wifi (works okay), friendly staff, free breakfast
Cons: No air conditioning, pretty expensive for what you get, the staff don’t speak English (unless you get one of the younger members of the team who aren’t there all the time), very small rooms, the “double bed” is two small beds put together, no shampoo/body wash, other eating options are a drive away, the “bathroom” is pretty much in the bedroom/on top of the bed
In the end, I would stay at this hotel again if I had to be in the area. You can't find anything close to a western hotel.

They renovated the hotel, the nice single rooms are now smaller than before, but with the wc and sink I'm the room, I mean separated by a glass, not so nice.
The breakfast was nice, nothing special but nice.
The worst thing was a party with live music that lasted until 2.00am, not easy trying to sleep...
Wireless Lan not working, I mean so weak that the connection goes on and off, quite impossible using it.

After a very long day and heavy traffic on the A8 and its Roadworks, we were nearing Ulm and needed a stopover for the night. Using Points of Interest (hotels) on our SatNav near Ulm, and then used our mobile to view trip advisor on various hotels. The first review on this hotel settled us and a short phone call in good English had booked our room and dinner. It was a Saturday night.
We arrived about 1930 to find a huge carpark full of cars, our hearts sunk. But our welcome was efficient, our room ready, but dinner an hour away.
The room was simple clean and very comfortable. A simple bathroom and shower was clean and worked.
Going down to the dining area and hanging around soon found us a table. Now the full carpark revealed a wedding party, however that did not hold up the wine, or our well presented and delicious dinner. (Local sausages with roast potatoes and sauerkraut for 9 euros).
This stopover was a surprise and we were very pleased, a good quiet sleep, great breakfast with freshly fried eggs for me, good selection from the buffet.
Friendly staff who went the extra mile for us.
A perfect stopover and we were on our way. Reaching Calais at 1930 even after a long (2hour) Lunch at Metz.
