The good:
a) The service is great. The owner went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The staff at reception were very helpful and nothing was an issue when I needed something i.e. Iron, water etc
b) Location. There is not much to choose in Leipheim but the location is a bonus as it right next to the Danube river (2 min walk). The walk along the river is beautiful.
The not so good:
I was in Leipheim when it was well above 30 degree Celsius during the day. The rooms have no air conditioning so my room felt like a sauna. I could open the window fully at night so it became very uncomfortable during the evening.
My German is appalling and I am always tentative when approaching people. Fortunately the family owners spoke impeccable English, much to my relief & we chatted away when checking out the following morning.
Being so close to the station there's a theme running through the hotel. Our floor was dedicated to Scotland with beautiful imagery of viaducts and valleys. I believe the 1st floor below us was dedicated to African railways. The detail and finish throughout the hotel is second to none. Our room was a family room with the child bed conveniently located out of eyesight, but close. All the furnishings were first class, the bathroom was immaculate & we all had a beautiful nights sleep.
We didn't eat in the formal restaurant in the evening and chose to sit in the less formal area. The food was top class regional food and the beer was much appreciated after a very long journey. We sat for breakfast in the swanky restaurant the following morning and tucked in to a variety of self service meats, cheeses and breads. There were cereals and hot foods available, but we didn't try them.
Without hesitation, I'd recommend the hotel to any of my friends and we'll no doubt stop there once again in the future.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves some great regional food, remember to ask for meal of the day, however the price is in the higher end for the food.
If you are in need of high speed internet... Thats the wrong place, I wasn't even able to download mails some days, that's the reason for three stars, a good Internet connection is a must in my opinion.
Furthermore the hotel is offsite, so there is nothing close to...
We just about arived in before last orders for tea, and had a great meal at a reasonable price.
They were happy to let our dogs sleep in the car, in the car park.
The restaurant was ok and the food was great. But the didn´t seem to have any fans in the kitchen. You got a smell of fried things in your clothes that stayed for quite a few days.
Great playground for kids.
Ok breakfast.
