Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Even though it has many rooms, you feel like you are staying at a relative's home. Quaint, quiet and yummy eats. Having the matriarch of the family check us out in her house robe definitely left a lasting impression. Great value, great local food, clean rooms, and very quiet.

We stayed in one of the family rooms (sleeps four) for one night a July weekend. We arrived much earlier than the check-in time but were still able to get into the room and use it. The extra beds were pullout couches. We only used one of them for our two three-year-olds and they slept well on it.

We were there for an event at a restaurant nearby, so the location was excellent for us, but it is not particularly central.

The hotel has a restaurant that is no longer open for lunch, only dinner. The breakfast was generous and set in a relaxing atmosphere.

So, the overall stay was lovely, the only negative being that we could not have lunch directly in the hotel and that there was only one room/house key, which posed a few logistical challenges for us.

Since we wouldn't have been able to drive six hours home after the Iron Maiden concert without getting any sleep, my partner had decided to book a hotel from which the Cannstatter Wasen was easily accessible by public transport. Unfortunately, there wasn't much choice, so we chose the quaint guest house in the small town of Fellbach. My impression of the atmosphere of the hotel and the staff can be summed up in one word - strange. As soon as we arrived, the hotel seemed deserted. There was no one at the reception and even after we rang the bell several times, no one showed up for half an hour. All of this happened around lunchtime. A woman finally appeared out of nowhere, asked for our last name and wordlessly asked us to follow her. No "warm welcome", no house rules, no checking of our identity with ID cards. In the hallway, on the other hand, things started to get loud and busy as soon as we arrived. The two employees started vacuuming simultaneously and were talking loudly in a Romansh language. However, as it turned out, they were not in our room. The door to the room looked like a simple children's room door, which personally gave me no security. The bed linen was not allergy-friendly and the room in general had something of a holiday at grandma and grandpa's or an East German apartment. There was a broken garden gnome on the balcony. The furniture was old and dusty, perhaps that's why it was called "Alte Kelter". The bottle of liquid soap on the shower shelf in the bathroom seemed just as old to me. I didn't want to use it. Nor did I use the corded telephone, which I would only expect to find in a German government office these days. The only thing that consoled me was the view of the vineyards. After returning from a good concert, I didn't really care where I slept and so I rolled myself up in a bath towel because the bedding wasn't suitable for me. The last point is breakfast. As far as I remember, we paid around €8 for it, and we were in the restaurant downstairs more than an hour before closing time, but there was hardly more than a roll. Everything else was gone and there was no refill. I don't know what the people who arrived an hour or two after us ate, but while we were there the baskets remained empty. I had an apple and my partner had a dry roll and a cream yoghurt. My conclusion: it's enough for one night's accommodation, but no more.
