Detailed Reviews
This is our second holiday at Brenton on the Rocks. We are completing a wonderful 3 weeks in the Seagull View Villa with its three bedrooms, two bathrooms and cloakroom, fine kitchen and appliances, wonderful balconies, exceptional views and decent internet.
Both Mariska, the manager, and Nico, the owner, have been friendly and helpful well beyond the call of duty. All the staff are pleasant and helpful. We felt exceptionally comfortable and peaceful during these past three weeks as well as during our time here last year.
We enjoyed our ten days here in a king-bedded room last year so much that we booked the villa for 3 weeks for this winter before leaving South Africa last February.
The beach nearby is an exceptionally good walking beach with access by a boardwalk, which is especially helpful to those of us no longer young. The views from our house and from the hillside benches near the carpark and beach are wonderful. The community here feels like a community and is quiet and peaceful.
The villa itself has parking and its own garage with entry to the house through the garage. We entertained two friends here for a week and had additional dinner guests.
The kitchen's oven had been reported as problematic and during our first week here the owner replaced the oven and installed the ceramic touch control hob. We really welcomed the opportunity to do our own meals and enjoyed shopping for groceries in Knysna. We also went out to lunch fairly frequently and enjoyed exploring the surrounding area.
Bottom line is that this is an exceptionally pleasant place to holiday if you love the beach for walking, gorgeous ocean views, and are happy either to have self-catering as we did this year or also fine for b&b living with the option of having breakfast at the property with full choices and enjoying the kettle, fridge, microwave and toaster when you don't feel like a full meal or just want to stay in.
The only downside is that you really have to go the 15 km to Knysna for proper shopping and restaurants other than the one at Brenton Haven and the beach bar nearby.
Thank you Nico, Mariska and all the staff for a second wonderful holiday, in spite of wide variations in the weather these past 3 weeks. We have really enjoyed sharing your stunning ocean, beach and community.

Dear Georgia & Dick, Wow what a wonderful review to read. It was been such a big pleasure to host you the last month. My only wish is that it was longer. We will definitely miss all the chats and sharing of recipes. We hope to see you next year and hopefully there will be less rain. All the best with the rest of your travels and your travels back home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brenton on the Rocks and found it to be good value for the quality of accommodation and location. The breakfasts were excellent and the service very good. The family unit was very well equipped and very clean and the view from the balcony and main bedroom was awesome. It was also great to have our own garage. I would definitely visit the guesthouse again given the opportunity. Our stay was enjoyable even though all the beaches were closed due to covid-19 restrictions. We chose this place to be near the sea with a magnificent sea view and that is exactly what we got. Thanks to Nico and all the staff for making our stay pleasant and enjoyable.

I booked this for my family by accident thinking I was going somewhere near the Knysna Heads but I was pleasantly surprised. The location is stunning and the host, Nico, was ever attentive and truly looks after his guests. What a gentleman. It was difficult leaving but will definitely make a turn again.

A gem along the South African garden route near Knysna.
Nicely built house on the cliff above the Indian Ocean. Easily accessible to the room though the indoor garage. The room has a fantastic view of the ocean with lot of dolphins surfing the wave. We thought the dolphins jump only. haha.
The breakfast which you can choose was more than adequate. The neighbourhood Brenton-on-Sea is very peaceful and secure ocean facing village with very nice restaurant nearby. Knysna is within 15 minuite's drive away.
Most of all, Our hosts Margaret and Nico were superfriendly and very helpful. So were the other staffs. (Soory I forgot the name of the dog who is also a superhost.)

What a beautiful setting! Friendly staff, lovely rooms. Our family loved staying here and would definitely recommend this stunning venue for discerning travelers. The pool area was used to cool off after our beach days and the walks and stunning secluded beaches in close proximity afforded us the opportunity to walk and discover the area, daily!

Stayed at Brenton on the Rocks Guesthouse for a few days during February 2022 for the Chukka Water Polo Festival in Knysna and had a great few days. Manager and staff were very friendly and kind and really went the extra mile to make this an unforgettable few days. Unbeatable view over the sea, beautiful room and bathroom and excellent service overall. Will definitely recommend to others.
