We are a Rated Self-catering Exclusive resort with accolades for birding, family friendly and hiking, issued by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. Situated in 36 hectares of forest in the Garden Route, 16 km’s from the N2. We are off the beaten track and partially off the grid. The closest town, shop and restaurant is 20 minutes away, so be sure to stock up with groceries on your way. Our on-site facilities include a licensed bar, petting zoo, art gallery, 2 forest trails and a river walk giving guests access to the Karatara river and rock pools. All our suites are nestled within the magnificent indigenous Knysna Forest. The suites are built in a gorge, so access is from ground level and the front of the suite is built on stilts ranging from two to six meters above ground, giving you breath-taking views of the Karatara Gorge or the majestic Knysna Forest. We’re best suited to nature lovers, those wanting something a little unique, quirky and adventurous; especially when the winds pick up and the odd thunderstorm hits. Please be aware that you are going to be in the bush. This is not a manicured environment; it is part of the forest. We won’t, don’t, can’t fumigate the forest … so if you are someone who doesn’t have phobias about flora or fauna; trees, plants, birds, wild animals, insects, spiders, snakes, butterflies, moths, tame animals …… Teniqua Treetops is the holiday destination for you.

My wife and I stayed in one of the treehouses with our two kids aged 5 and 8. It was better than we expected. The treehouse was safe, well maintained and set far apart from any other treehouses or buildings, giving you a real feeling of isolation in the bush. Although more expensive than a more standard sort of accommodation, we felt it was well justified due to it's uniqueness and I imagine it's not cheap to maintain the treehouses and their facilities.
We very much enjoyed the hike down to and along the river and the kids were thrilled that the local dog Boo joined us on this 2 hour hike (it can be done in a shorter time, but we were with two small kids that enjoyed the rock pools on the way).
The play area with swimming pool and pool table was very much enjoyed by the kids and we could really relax as the kids played there. The service from the owners and other staff is excellent; you can see that they really want you to have a good time.

The Teniqua accommodation was good value for money. The location of each tent was well placed to be isolated from the other guests. The view from Gorge View was spectacular. The bath in this unit is well positioned. We did not experience any monkeys or other forest inhabitants. The walks around the property were well sign posted and had easy access. The swimming pool was spotless and we used the other facilities such as table tennis and snooker table. The access to the 7 passes road is good and worth the drive.
Now to some suggestions. The outside lighting in the access path to Gorge View was broken. The fridge door is rusty and needs repair. The west facing outside window frame and panels need urgent maintenance. The steel support ropes for the outer shade cover need urgent maintenance. Bits of old rope currently used looks ugly.

I will say from the start, it is place that we will be visiting again. Beautiful, peaceful, comfortable, snug yet spacious for two; the list of praises for this place is a long one. Definitely a place where one must stay for at least 3 nights to fully enjoy the experience.

Situated in the mountains outside Sedgefield, you access Teniqua tree tops via a private entry on a private farm.

Although near enough to the other camp sites/cabins to hear people talking every now and then, you are completely surrounded by nature and the beautiful views of the lush valleys nearby. Loeries and other bird life are frequent visitors on the trees nearby the cabin.

The tented cabin feels snug yet cosy and spacious for two, with a comfortable and generous bedroom; which looks out onto the deck and surrounding bush.

The bathroom and restroom are outside the cabin on the deck, but still under the same roof; which we found quite a help during the rain.
The bathroom has large windows, but is shielded by the decking, so you can enjoy the outdoors without feeling too exposed, or worried about being spied on.

The whole cabin feel just right and needs nothing less or more. It was really a pleasure to stay there and was a place where we could really just relax.

Anthony and Tarryn (the owners) were truly delightful to meet and were always ready to help us out with any special requests, or giving of advise.

I would highly recommend a stay here for the nature lover, star gazer, or general midday snoozer; or anyone in between. Truly, an amazing stay

What a wonderful soul gathering place. The service was excellent! The breakfast was really worth it.

It would be very helpful if there was a dustpan, broom and mop in the unit. One does not want to bother the workers unnecessarily with a small spill, not that they care at all.

Will revisit!

We booked Teniqua as a quick forest stop over whilst doing a whirlwind trip through the Garden Route and we were so glad that we did. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and facilities were top notch, thought had been put into everything from the heaters to the little locks on all the doors for the monkeys. Wish we had more time to spend but we managed to cram in a hike to the pool, a glorious bath and a few evening drinks at the bar. I definitely recommend this little gem.

I decide to stay here with my partner over my 21st birthday and the experience was truly made special by the owners. We were greeted warmly by the reception (even though we were a little bit late). They proceeded to show us the commodities at the reception such as the bar and swimming pool, thereafter we were taken down to our suite for the evening. To our surprise, the bed was spread with rose petals and swan-folded towels, there was also a full cheese platter with a bottle of wine and champagne waiting for us. It was super special. After a warm bath, we proceeded to entertain ourselves with card games and snacks. The sleep was slightly challenging, as I found myself caught in the mosquito net multiple times, but I slept like a baby nonetheless. In the morning, we were greeted with the curious Knysna lourie, that came close enough to actually eat seeds held in the palms of our hands. The experience was truly magical. Thanks to the owners and to my mother that made the special arrangements.

Teniqua is just a stone throw away from the Garden route bike park, which is why we chose it initially. We were very happy there, the tranquil and very friendly and accommodating staff made every effort for us to be comfortable, even moving us to a warmer room when the weather looked like it was going to be cold, completely unsolicited by us. the views are great, and you feel like you are sleeping in the forest, with trees and birdlife all around. Would love to go back.

What a great place to rest and recover after a week long motorcycle trip through the Karoo. The hosts were very accommodating and hospitable.
Booking was easy and without complication.
Communication of our late arrival was received with concern about our trip and reassurance not to be concerned.
On arrival we were met with friendliness and even extra assistance with food for the evening because of our late arrival. Seriously above and beyond!
The tents are very well equipped and we needed nothing additional, a massive bonus travelling on a motorcycle. Very comfortable furnishings and top quality finishes, bedding, towels all top quality.
Tents are far apart and we felt like we were on our own in a gorge. Stunning views, wonderful bird life and incredible sunsets.
So good that we decided to stay another night and fortunate that we were able to get the unit for the second night. One night would never have been enough to appreciate this place in any case.
Close enough to Sedgefield for a quick supply run. Could have gone to Kysna but enjoyed that road the day before on our way in.
The lost property was especially helpful and we found exactly what we had left, thank you.
I honestly hope to visit again soon for a few days to explore more of the hikes and trails.

Very spacious tent-like construction. For indoor and outdoor living. There is even a bathtub/shower with a view. Nice barbecue and cooking facilities. The very helpful owner provides you also with salt pepper and olive oil. Bring just your meat and veggies and cook your meal in gorgeous environment. For breakfast a rich basket of goodies is provided at the door.

Our family of four includes two children, ages 7 and 9. We had an excellent stay at Teniqua Treetops. The "treehouse" itself was clean and well appointed, not to mention super cool tucked into a forest paradise. We made this a one-day pitstop on our tour of the Garden Route, but we all wished we had stayed another night. The thoughtfully prepared breakfast delivered to our door was copious and delicious. We enjoyed time in the common areas having wine and pizza, teaching our son billiards while our daughter fawned over the dog and cat. The pool with the balance beam across it was a big hit. And the owners were warm and welcoming. Highly recommend.
