We have been coming to the Hotel Engstler in Velden for Harley Days for several years. After trying out several hotels in this area in previous years, we keep coming back to this beautiful, well-located hotel. The staff are very warm, courteous and always up for a laugh.
The rooms are spacious. The view of Lake Wörthersee from the balcony makes you want more. When the weather is nice, breakfast is served in the lovingly landscaped and very well-kept garden, which goes right up to Lake Wörthersee. The waiters should actually get mileage allowance for the distances they walk here. Since we came with our little dog this year, a waiter was specially assigned to serve on the terrace. Where do you find something like that?
Of course, we also use the spa every day with the various saunas and the indoor and outdoor heated pool. During breaks, the loungers provided with a view of Lake Wörthersee invite you to dream. Everything in this area is also very modern and well-kept. When booking, you can choose between the very generous breakfast and half board. With half board, you can choose between the different courses and several great dishes. The kitchen surprises us every time with new creations. Thank you for the great time and see you next year to the Hotel Engstler and all the staff.

From the reservation to the check out everything it’s perfect. We were a group of 3 friends, the check in was smooth and fast, room already ready for us at midday. Very spacious room with nice balcony and view, and we received as well a welcome drink voucher. The location is perfect, in the city center and parking free. Great swimming pool and easy access to a private green beach on the lake, with a bar and food available. Swimming pool as I says and spa area are great and staff it’s simply amazing and very helpful. Breakfast is really really good and with many choices. Absolutely great and for sure will go back in the future. Thanks to the staff.

We booked five days in this very friendly hotel. Stayed in a spacious family room (with separate room for our kids) overlooking the wonderful lawn (where we ate breakfast and dinner) and the Lake. Hotel owners are experienced, which shows in details (e.g. child strollers available at the hotel desk). The hotel is located in the very center of Velden ("Monte Carlo of Austria") but still an oasis of tranquility. Child care is available during week days. Breakfast was copious, half board always very tasty and with good price/quality relation. Free parking near the hotel. Friendly staff. For all you coming from Western Europe, a general warning: beware of ticks. Kärnten has a species that bears not only Lyme disease bacteria, but also a nasty virus potentially leading to encephalitis. Get your vaccine!

This hotel is a good example how the region is helping average hotel sustaining a high price...
First the good part. The location is one of the best in Velden and the access to the lake is unique. Rooms are well sized and the overall service is friendly.
Now to the downsides...if you end up in a room on the ground floor with a view over the lake you have a special experience - in the evening drunken German seniors raving about their past, in the morning the same seniors having breakfast. So long sleeping or an early nap with open windows or blinds is impossible.
Now you might also end up getting a special room with a view over the street - which is crowded and noisy the whole night - a very special experience. The answer from the reception - bad luck.
The alternative - go for the schlosshotel - a little bit higher pricing but way more modern and better rooms, a spacious lake area and friendly service.

es tut uns sehr leid, dass es zu dieser, für uns sehr unüblichen Bewertung gekommen ist. Der Aufenthalt war im Juli 2014, die Bewertung haben wir erst jetzt erhalten. Es wäre natürlich sehr viel besser, die Reklamationen (besonders wegen Lärmbelästigungen) sofort an Ort und Stelle zu melden, damit wir Abhilfe hätten schaffen können. Jetzt, 1 Jahr später, ist es schwierig, die Reklamation richtig zu bewerten.

This was one of the best places we stayed on our trip. Very convenient and beautifully located directly at Wörthersee, with lovely hotel-own bathing dock. The housekeeper made our stay so comfortable. The staff was very kind and friendly and helped whenever we needed any assistance. A warm atmosphere, spacious room with comfortable bathroom. We found it was very clean. Breakfast was good and abundent, the dinner was always four courses of fresh ingredients from the area. It helped to make our memories wonderful. So we wouldn't hestitate to go back.

At the very center of Velden right next to the Casino. The hotel has its own "beach" by the lake and a very extensive grass covered area for sunbathing. Lots of deck-chairs around for everyone. You can even reserve your deck-chair at just the right spot for the duration of your stay. There is also a nice little pool for more sunbathing. Breakfast, weather permitting is served on the lawn between 7 and 10 in the morning and consists of food for every taste. Many kinds of bread to make your mouth water. Normally dinner is included in the price and the meals served are of high quality. The rooms are large with a wonderful view to the lake. Bathrooms are also large with good tubs. The rooms have sound-proofed windows. This comes handy because at night a lot happens on the street and it can be somewhat noisy. Parking can be a bit difficult, but the hotel personnel cheerfully takes care of the problem. Service is very good and very friendly. This was my second stay at this hotel in 12 months.
