An historical hotel without the boutique price is a nice find. German built in 1887, it was once splendid. It is opposite well maintained public gardens. The second floor balconies offer sea views. The Indian food is the best we have had since we visited India a year ago. The rooms are huge with high ceilings. Room price includes a fan and air conditioning and a nice breakfast. Beer is at local prices and is always cold. The owner is slowly restoring the hotel. The furniture seems original. Wi-Fi is available for a very reasonable price. The rooms are very clean and hot water is available. The water can be a bit spotty, but ask for the water to be turned on when you want a shower and it is hot instantly. If you are looking for an interesting historical place to stay in Tanga and you are on a budget this is my favorite option.
Also, Auric Air has daily flights to Pemba and Zanzibar so no need to hassle through Dar. This is also a good staging place for Mombosa. Tahmeed Coach has at least one A/C bus a day to Dar and one to Mombasa. Ask for the Cappuccino Café to find the terminal to buy your ticket.

First, the Indian restaurant serves great food!!

Second, the room downstairs was not great but oké for the price, I guess the rooms upstairs where more comfortable. Downstairs you are next to the bar what goes with a lot of noice and you re room is looking at the parking lot.

The manager on duty was a grumpy man that didnt show any interrest. He didnt say a thing and was only reading the news paper. The rest of the staff was nice though. The manager arranged a taxi to the airport and made arrangements with the driver to double the price!! And told us that that price was normal, not knowing we are in Tanzania for a longer time. Oké when taxi drivers try, but not customer minded from the manager of a hotel, its rude!

Fine place, in need of a changing manager (the one that was on duty during the day on August the 6th).

The situation of the hotel is what sells it . Right opposite the food gardens in Tanga and overlooking the sea.

Rooms are good and clean but the hot water system is erratic.

Dont take end room near the club next door ..you will get no sleep if you do.

We changed room to a middle room and was fine.

Breakfast was good and food in the evening was popular with the locals .

This is by far the best place to stay in Tanga. The rooms are huge and come with a balcony. This motel has a great bar, darts and pool as well as the best Indian food in town. The staff here are delightful, and we just keep coming back!

I dined here one evening with friends whilst working in Tanga in 2013. The food here is a lot cheaper than in the other hotels in Tanga. As with most restaurants/hotels in Tanga the menu has a lot of Indian dishes on it. I had the prawn curry which was very good. The service was also very good compared to some of the other more expensive hotels/restaurants in the area. Although the tables and chairs are garden furniture the service and price are excellent. I would go here if you want to mix it with the locals and try some really good Indian food.

The food is superb, the locals go here to eat and drink, the aircon just about works and the rooms are spacious and decent. If you complain about the wifi then to hell with you. This place is great. Only complaint is that is that they don't advertise enough; so everything they offer can be a little difficult to come across.

The only good thing about this hotel is the price. At only $15-20 per night, I felt fine about the place, but it is definitely not a great joint. The water was shut off 90% of the time and each time we wanted to use it, we had to go down and ask them to turn the pump on. The sheets and blankets on the bed are really old, to the point where I didn't want to use them. The AC didn't work. My balcony door stayed shut by a piece of cardboard rammed in to the door frame. And it's next to a night club (which we visited and had fun at) but if you're in a room at the end, you won't be sleeping much on a Friday or Saturday night.

nice and clean the big double room with fan, a/c, and a terrace with sea view for 35000 tzs. Great food and service. The hotel is good located, few minutes by walk to the market and with a green and nice public park just across the street.
