well, where do you start, Looked ok on web site, but not in person, bathroom had paint peeling off the roof and off the shower walls, Lino was lifting around the bathroom cabinets, A piece of used toilet paper was left sitting on top of a new roll. uncomfortable bed.. The road noise at night time, way to much, Laundry facility looked like it had not been cleaned in a month.. The internet was so slow it was not worth using. The food.. mmm. sad to say, fish was well over cooked, chips not edible from to much seasoning. Wont be back, NOT recommended, there are better places to be had in nelson for a fraction more on the cost.
There were 5 of us booked for a Fathers Day evening meal. The food was delicious and well presented. The service we got from John the Chef and the waiter was outstanding. The meals and dessert were great and very tasty. I reccommend this place for a meal as the service and meals are really good.
Clean and spacious. There was a lot of road noise, but this quietened down overnight. Had a full kitchen with everything needed to make a meal. Had a large shower with great pressure and a heater that heated the room quickly. There was no wifi.
We had often stayed in the Nelson area but on this occasion we had to book somewhere other than our usual due to high demand. So...it was a mystery what we were getting. The reception was little short of hostile. Certainly no polite conversation. We were asked how we were paying......by credit card......O.K. there will be a surcharge then. We had been travelling for hours and we were both tired and now downhearted. We were directed to our 'quarters'. Tired looking room looking out on a bleak view consisting of a carpark with a motorway behind. I can't really comment on the cleanliness because the furnishings were so dated that any 'dirt' would not be obvious. It's a long way from nowhere so we had to just pull the curtains, switch on the T.V and wait for the morning. I would have to add that the one redeeming feature was that while we were loading our car that morning a chap who appeared to be cleaning rooms shouted a bright 'good morning' to me. Thank you for that. It's amazing how such seemingly unimportant things can change impressions. Almost!…
I would also rate them a 0 if I could. Host rude blamed staff for most problems. Look out Claire the pom( her words) she blames you! Ants in rooms had to go buy fly spray, washing of towels, face clothes etc all on line outside rooms and very dirty and ripped looking. Amenities sparse, also wires hanging down by TV so beware with young children!@ beds hard, owners rude, lucky locals were nice otherwise would give Brightwater a bad name. Would never recommend in any space, Business personal etc EVER!
